Transcript
Welcome to this yoga nidra practice.
Take a moment to lie down on your back and get comfortable.
Find the right position that will support you during the duration of the practice.
You may want to support your head with a pillow and cover yourself with a light blanket.
Fidget until you find the best position that you can lie in.
And then place your hands by your sides.
Right hand on right side,
Left hand on left side,
And both palms facing up.
Begin to scan your face for any tension that you might feel in the forehead,
The eyes,
Your mouth,
And jaw.
Allow any tension to subside from the face and start to soften the muscles in the face.
Begin to notice the sounds in the room and the sounds in the distant.
Try not to focus on any one sound but drift your attention from sound to sound.
Notice the position your body is in.
Notice where you can soften your body just a tiny bit more to get comfortable.
Bring your awareness to the sounds of your body.
Notice the sounds within your body,
Your heartbeat,
And your breath.
Begin to follow your breath and notice how your body expands and contracts.
With each inhale and exhale follow the breath as it flows in and out of the left nostril and as it flows in and out of the right nostril.
Continue to follow your breath from nostril to nostril and notice which nostril feels a little bit more clear.
Now rest your awareness on your heart.
And for a moment connect with a personal intention for this practice.
Your personal intention or sankalpa is an affirmative statement of that of which your heartfelt desire is manifesting.
Intuitively connect with your heartfelt desire and repeat your personal intention as an I am statement emphasizing that this statement is already true in your life.
Now repeat your sankalpa and again once more emphasize it with awareness and feeling,
Treating it as if it has already manifested.
And now release your sankalpa.
From here follow my voice as I guide you through a rotation of consciousness.
If you find that you fall asleep or you drift off into thought simply bring yourself back to my voice.

On this next part,
You will begin to start counting your cycles of breath backwards from 27 to 1.
When you inhale,
You will count 27,
And when you exhale,
You will count 27,
And that will be one cycle of breath.
For example,
Inhale 27,
Exhale 27,
Inhale 26,
Exhale 26.
If you lose your count,
You can always begin again.
On your next inhale,
Begin counting at 27.
I will be here to bring you back when it's time.
Now,
Begin to let go of your count and follow my voice as I guide you through a series of opposite feelings and sensations,
Visuals and a visualization.
If you find that old memories or emotions come out to the surface,
Know that this is completely okay.
The idea is to be the observer of the emotion or story without getting too attached or focused on the story.
See if you can disengage from the story and stay focused on the visuals,
The sensations and the feelings.
Now,
Begin to imagine the sensation of open.
Notice how your body feels open.
Observe your body language when you feel open.
Observe any subtle changes in your breath or posture when you imagine the sensation of open.
Notice your thoughts when you imagine the sensation of open.
Now,
Let the sensation go and begin to imagine the sensation of closed.
Observe how your body feels when you imagine the sensation of closed.
Notice your posture or body language in your mind.
Notice what comes up for you when you imagine the sensation of closed.
Where are you when you feel closed?
Now,
Let this feeling go and go back and forth between both sensations.
Closed.
Open.
Closed.
Open.
Closed.
Open.
Now,
Let go both of these feelings and come back to a state of neutral.
And begin to recall a time you felt energy.
Notice how your body feels in a state of energy.
Notice the kind of thoughts that you had when you felt energy.
Observe your body language and any physical sensations that you might have in the body when you felt energy.
Notice any behaviors or actions that you took when you felt energy.
Now,
Let this feeling go and begin to imagine a time that you felt exhausted.
Notice how your body responds to the feeling of exhaustion.
Observe the thoughts that you have when you feel exhausted.
Become aware of any facial muscles changing when you feel exhausted.
Notice your heart rate,
Your breath,
And your body temperature.
Become aware of the entire body in a state of exhaustion.
Now,
Let this feeling go and for a moment shift your awareness from both sensations starting at exhaustion,
Energy,
Exhaustion,
Energy,
Exhaustion,
Energy.
Now,
Release both of these feelings and just come back to a state of neutral.
Now,
Bring your awareness to the space behind your eyelids and begin to imagine the smell of honeysuckle,
The taste of fresh pineapple,
The sound of leaves crunching underneath your feet,
Your mother's face,
Sirens in the distance,
Hiking on a dirt trail,
A rosary,
A boat ride,
Your inner voice,
Your inner voice,
Your inner voice,
A blank canvas,
Chipped nail polish,
A state of vitality,
A cat meowing,
A presidential election,
Warm fuzzy socks on a cold day,
A golden egg,
A ghost,
A loud and windy thunderstorm,
A babbling brook of water flowing over rocks.
Now,
In your mind's eye,
Engage your imagination and begin to imagine that you are in the middle of a desert.
As you become aware of your consciousness and body in the middle of a desert,
Surrounding you are cacti,
Succulents,
Shrubs,
And tall Joshua trees.
The sun is setting and the sky is beginning to paint pink,
Golden,
And purple hues.
The air is so dry that you feel your lips slightly chopped.
There is a light dust flying in the wind.
For as far as you can see,
The land is flat.
As you begin to wander throughout the desert,
You discover an outdoor sculpture park of art installations.
As you wander through the outdoor sculpture park,
You see an installation of a life-size blank canvas.
Next to it is a can of black paint with a paintbrush.
You pick up the paintbrush and you begin to paint a message on the canvas.
This message is your sun copa.
As you paint your sun copa on the canvas,
You begin to repeat it to yourself and your mind until you feel complete.
When you feel complete,
You step back from the canvas,
You put the paintbrush down,
And you admire your masterpiece.
Begin to recall your sun copa once more and repeat it to yourself,
Allowing the words to flow deep into your subconscious.
You feel a state of energy and vitality as you breathe and repeat these words to yourself and admire the masterpiece of your work.
Each cell in your body receives the medicine from your sun copa and your subconscious is transformed.
Bring your awareness to your breath and feel your ribcage expand and contract.
Begin to bring your awareness back to the space behind your eyelids and let this vision go and drop your attention to the sound of your heartbeat.
Now become aware of the sound of your breath.
Begin to deepen your inhales and lengthen your exhales.
Start to notice the sounds of the room.
Notice any sounds in the distance.
Become aware of your body resting.
Become aware of the weight of your body.
Notice how your body feels in this state of resting.
For a moment,
Simply observe the way that your body feels.
Observe any tension that might be in the muscles still or if it has all subsided.
Observe your facial muscles.
Notice how your face feels.
When you feel ready to move,
You can begin to gently wiggle your toes and your fingers beginning to start to awaken the consciousness in the body.
You can feel free to lie in this position for as long as you wish or you can draw your knees into your chest and roll over to one side.
And as you feel ready,
You can begin to slowly push yourself up to sit,
Keeping your eyes closed.
Bring the palms of your hands to touch at the center of your chest and let your chin fall to your hands.
Recall your sankalpa and repeat it to yourself three times in your mind.
Now take a deep breath in and slowly sigh it out of your mouth.
When you feel ready,
You can begin to gently open your eyes.
The practice of yoga nidra is now complete.
