Welcome.

This meditation is all about finding coziness and making space for coziness in your life.

Those of us in the Northern Hemisphere are at a time when we are moving into some cooler months.

Sometimes when we might be thinking about ways to feel extra snug in our homes or with friends.

The thing that I would love for us to get curious about today is how to find that feeling of coziness within yourself,

How to embody it,

And then how to make it come into reality in the ways that are within your control outside of you.

So take a breath or two.

Expanding your belly and your sides.

Fully coming into this moment,

Giving yourself permission to arrive.

And giving yourself permission to offload the things that might not need to be part of this time together today.

They can be there for you to come back to later if it feels like they'll serve you.

Settle in with that breath without judgment.

Allowing it to flow in and out of you.

You can close your eyes if you want and if that feels safe.

Or you might find that it feels really nice to just have a soft gaze on an object across from you.

Or maybe it would feel good to pause this right here and go find a candle to light or even a flameless candle.

Something to gaze at while we do this exercise together.

If that seems like it would be extra cozy,

Go ahead and listen to that.

I'll be right here when you come back.

So wherever it is that you find yourself,

Now is the time to feel relaxed and fully supported.

Now is the time to allow yourself to feel held by the surface that you're on.

Whether you're sitting in your car in a parking spot or whether you are snuggled up on a couch in your home with a blanket.

Wherever you are,

Allow yourself to feel held by the surface that you're sitting on.

And just notice whether that held feeling is warm,

Whether that held feeling is hard or soft.

Again,

Noticing without judgment,

But then allowing for some shifts if you feel like that would make this experience that much better for you.

So now is the part that we get to start imagining.

Right before we go into that,

Imagine that you are firmly rooted into the earth that you are on.

Imagine roots coming out of the bottom of your feet and traveling downward into the earth,

Anchoring you,

Holding you,

Keeping you from blowing away.

And in that heldness,

Go ahead and start to imagine,

If coziness were a feeling in your body,

Where would it live?

How do you feel in your body when you feel cozy and warm and snug?

What things that you do in your life bring up those feelings for you?

Is it watching a special movie or snuggling under a soft blanket?

Maybe being with a pet that you really love.

As you imagine these things,

Notice where they start to light up in your body.

Maybe you feel some warmth in your heart space when you think of cuddling with your cat.

Or maybe your belly feels nice and full when you think about spending time playing a really fun board game that's slow and leisurely,

Something that feels really unrushed to you.

Or maybe that comes from enjoying a meal that is one that just calls up feelings of nurturing and nourishment for you.

Just notice where all of these things start to light up in your body.

Say hello to them.

We're just getting curious.

We don't need to force ourselves to go to that part of our body.

But just notice all of these things as the observer.

So now,

See if there were any things in common in the areas of your body where these feelings of coziness came up.

Notice if a similar sensation came up when you imagined different scenarios or different things in your life.

Whether all of the sensations were the same or they were all different,

Either is okay.

But see if one is particularly calling out to you.

See if there's one that particularly says,

Come here,

I'm where cozy lives.

And so this is the time that you can imagine bringing your attention to that space of your body,

Noticing what cozy feels like there,

Allowing it to welcome you in,

And feeling all the feelings that come up with that feeling of coziness.

And for you,

Maybe that safety,

Comfort,

Warmth,

Peace,

Contentment.

You get to choose the words.

So draw your attention to that space.

Go within,

And see what it feels like to be completely surrounded by all of those feelings of coziness and comfort.

They're swirling gently around you,

Slowly,

Not in a dizzying way,

But just in a way of full immersion.

And see if you can look around you.

See what you notice is in the space with you.

Is there a certain decoration?

Is there a theme?

Are there cozy chairs?

Maybe there's a fireplace or a wood stove.

Maybe there are candles,

Board games,

Books,

Tea.

Look around your cozy space,

And take this time to fully stock it with whatever feels like is the definition of cozy for you.

Whatever feels like it fully embodies that idea.

Allow yourself to breathe and just really bask in that feeling of,

Wow,

This is cozy.

This feels good.

Let it become alive in your body.

Give it some gratitude as that feeling starts to deepen and widen,

And really see what it feels like.

Just try it on to become one with this feeling of coziness.

Notice the ways that this feeling is really impactful for you and feels really grounding,

Allows you to be present in your body in this moment.

And with that,

With that feeling,

Start to imagine how you might be able to take pieces of this and bring it into your world,

Your physical world that you engage with every day.

And it doesn't have to be just this time of year.

It can be any time of year.

It can be whenever you feel like you need a dose of cozy.

It's something that we tend to think about when the weather is cooler,

Especially for those of us who live in places that have very different seasons.

But we might be able to find cozy where we least expect it.

But the biggest thing is finding it right now for you as it exists and as it works for you.

See if you can dream up one thing,

One shift in your life,

In your home space,

In your work space that you can curate cozy this week.

To do this,

I invite you to think about all of your senses and bringing those in.

But just start with one.

There's no need to overwhelm.

You might start with music or a piece of art in your space or maybe just a soft sweater to have on hand.

Before we close out,

Take a moment to offer some gratitude to that space of cozy in your body and to know that you can come there,

That you can visit this space if it feels like one that is comfortable for you.

This is something that you are a full creation control over.

And so as you breathe in and out with that gratitude for this space,

Start to come back to the present and start to let yourself feel inspired about the ways that you're going to create cozy in your life this week.

See you next time.
