Sitting comfortably,

Either with your legs crossed or sitting on a chair with your feet flat on the floor.

Spine nice and long,

Your shoulders down and relaxed away from your ears and your eyes softly closed.

Take a second to feel the weight of your body into your seat.

Notice that sense of grounding at your hips and your spine lengthen up from that space.

Scan up through your body,

Noticing any muscles you can relax.

Sometimes our muscles cling unconsciously so just check in,

Notice areas that you can consciously soften.

Check in within.

How are you feeling right now deep down within yourself?

Notice your emotions without judgement.

You are not your emotions.

They are just passing visitors.

So often when we meditate we have this perception that we are supposed to stop our thoughts and emotions when really the reason why we are here is quite the opposite.

When we sit down to practice mindfulness we are doing just that,

Becoming mindful and aware moment to moment.

That includes your thinking mind,

The exercises,

Having the ability to notice the thoughts as they come and draw your awareness back to your breath.

It's a constant,

It's the constant coming back that's why we are here.

The reason we come back to the breath so often is because our breath is the closest thing we have to the present moment.

You can watch your breath come and watch it go,

No two breaths the same.

So we just sit and hang out with your breathing like it's the most important place in the entire world to be.

A new person you really want to get to know.

When your mind gets distracted it's coming back to your purpose of being here and that is simply to watch your breath.

So sitting here for the next few minutes really watching each breath come and go.

I'll mind the time and I'll come back to you in a few minutes when our time together is over.

And you're listening to Poetrytechnology on the You You You You You If your mind's wandered up bring it back to the breath now You start to wake up your body just by rolling your shoulders You keep your eyes closed Feel the weight of your body back into your seat Once you're ready You like your eyes open have a lovely day
