Feeling Feelings is an exercise into the safety of the present moment.

All feelings are on your side.

All feelings are here for your growth.

If I only knew that earlier in life.

I avoided many feelings of discomfort for most of my life.

Whether they were physical,

Mental,

Or emotional feelings,

It didn't matter.

I had mastered distraction,

Avoidance,

Blaming others,

And so many ways not to feel.

On my journey to well-being,

I learned that all feelings are temporary and transitory.

All feelings are like clouds passing through the sky.

As one of my clients shared,

All storms run out of rain.

And I'm just feeling the thoughts of where my attention is in the present moment.

Join me on this experiential journey into the safety of feelings.

Let's take a breath together and bring our awareness into the present moment.

And take another slow,

Deep breath.

You might choose to close your eyelids.

You're invited to generate a feeling of discomfort.

It might be tension,

Anxiety,

Worry,

Fear,

Or any feeling of discomfort.

If you are anything like me,

There are many opportunities to generate a feeling of discomfort.

Now notice in your body where you're feeling the discomfort.

Place your hand or hands on that part of your body.

Feel the sensation.

Focus on the sensation rather than the thought.

Bring all of your attention to the sensation in your body.

Follow the sensation as if it were leading you somewhere.

As your mind drifts away,

Bring it back to the sensation present.

You're invited to witness the sensation and notice what's happening.

Maybe the sensation is moving and maybe not.

Maybe the sensation is dissipating.

Consider that the sensation is inviting you to follow it.

Where is the sensation taking you?

Follow it.

Notice any change.

Is the sensation dissipating or shifting?

When my clients or I truly focus on the sensation,

Then the thoughts that created the feeling move on and a new feeling is present.

When that new feeling is a new discomfort,

I repeat the process.

What I've experienced is that under all discomfort is a place of peace and calm inviting you to join.

It's always there just waiting for you.

Following this exercise,

I've been experiencing greater peace,

Greater love for myself and others,

Greater joy.

As I've become more comfortable with all feelings,

My experience of life has expanded and deepened,

And I feel the richness and fullness of all that life has to offer.

The invitation is to explore and see what's there for you.
