When distress or panic overwhelm or upset and indeed anger takes your system down and you need a strategy to deal with it.
Coming into the present is very powerful and a good effective and pretty easy to remember strategy is the following.
Take a nice deep slow breath and again for good measure.
Come into this moment name five things you can see around you.
Name four things you can hear.
Name three things you can feel whether that's internally or externally.
Name two things you can smell.
And name one thing that you know.
One thing that you know with all your being is completely true.
A reason to remind yourself why you are safe in this moment.
Perhaps the fact that your senses are with you or that you can tap into this piece.
Come back to this exercise whenever you feel you need anchoring or grounding and the more you practice it the more help it'll bring to just come on back to this moment.
Another effective grounding technique if you're still listening is to think of a sentence,
A mantra that helps to anchor you.
I'll share mine which is all is well in my world.
A short simple reminder that regardless of all the chaos that might be happening in the world within that moment of presence when you are immersed in your your being you're centered all is well in your world.
So find a way to to honor yourself and honor your you know intentions for yourself and for this world.
It's very easy to get lost in your head.
The mind hunkers for it.
That stimulation,
Storytelling,
The opinions,
The judgment.
We become almost intoxicated by it.
An awareness of the fact you're doing it that's the first step.
So bringing yourself back and into the present moment that's one of the reasons it's so important to step out of the mind and all its traps.
So other ways to do that just to round off is breathwork.
Using your breath to come into your body to come within and movement.
A simple thing to be aware of or mindful or it's just novel either way is often we really hunch over and our gaze falls down when we're feeling downtrodden and exhausted and depressed and depleted.
And just awareness of your posture you know in any given moment is extremely powerful because if you can then bring awareness to it and observe wow my you know shoulders are up near my ears or you know my neck is so rigid or my shoulders are really curled and slumped whatever it might be.
It's tension in the jaw you know just bringing awareness to it and recognizing that there's a message behind that that particular posture your body's in and that you can reverse it and become aware of it first and then reverse it by doing you know the concave the opposite movement you know.
So for example rolling your shoulders up and pulling them down and then you know lifting your head and letting your gaze you know move upwards and just feel the difference in how you hold yourself and recognize that there's this interplay between mind and body and emotion all the time and one can drive the other very easily without awareness.
So bringing yeah awareness to the present moment.
Anyway blessings friends let's hope this year is a lot kinder and let's work together to move the planet you know in a more positive direction and learn from from everything we've just come through or still going through I should say for a lot of places.
And pace,
Pace to you all.
