Part of our spiritual work is to take care of ourselves physically. Our body is always sending signals to let us know which aspects of our physical health need attention. Usually, we aren’t listening or even choose to ignore these signs. In this episode we’ll discuss how to prioritize physical wellness and integrate spiritual consciousness into our health practices. Good morning,

Everyone.

Good evening,

Good afternoon,

Wherever you are,

And welcome to this week's Weekly Energy Boost.

My name is Ellie Sheva,

And I am here with David this morning,

And we are discussing this week listening to signals.

I think one of the number one questions we get is,

How do you know when to?

How do you know which is right?

How do you know what's the best thing?

And the truth is,

There is a lot of wisdom,

A lot of understanding,

A lot of guidance that the wisdom of Kabbalah provides on how to gauge when,

What,

How.

One of the things we're going to be talking today about is just that,

And hopefully by the end of the episode,

You will have not the answers that you need,

But at least the approach that will support you in being more in tune with your inner compass.

The Weekly Energy Boost is just that,

A boost for your energy this week.

David and I,

And sometimes as a guest,

We share the most practical and powerful wisdom and tools that we can find that's worked for us and for the people that we work with.

So you can have not only the best week,

But so that you can take those lessons into your life and make them work for you all year round,

All lifelong.

So we've been speaking this month,

We opened a series last week really around whole,

Last week was about wholeness,

But really what we're focusing on is wellness,

How to combine the energies of growth and health and wellness into both our spiritual and physical wellbeing.

So today we're really talking more about the resolving the conflict between the body and the soul.

One of the first things we talk about in the beginning classes of Kabbalah studies is the fact that we have those two consciousness within us at war.

Maybe war is a bit of a harsh illustration,

But there is this pull between the body and the soul that is really what creates most of the conflict in our lives.

Even if you look at,

If you've ever felt like in a relationship you've had a challenge,

At the end of the day,

If you really look at it,

The challenge is that your body wants something and your body includes your ego,

Your selfish desires,

Even our emotional state,

According to Kabbalah,

Is associated with the physical body and our soul,

Which is our higher self,

Our more elevated self,

The part of us that really sees the big picture and is able to look at an argument or a conflict and say,

You know what,

It's not worth it.

That conflict between the body and the soul is actually the problem and the relationship itself is not the problem.

So what we want to break down for our listeners today is really how to resolve that conflict.

Where first the conflict comes from,

How to resolve it,

And some tips and tools,

Maybe even some success stories around how to navigate that.

I also asked our followers on Instagram to share with us some questions,

So I'll be pulling from that as well.

Very nice.

Very nice.

So where do we want to start here?

I think one of the ways that we can address this is a lot of times people have pain in their body.

You want to go there?

Is that what you want to say?

Yeah,

Absolutely.

Okay.

So people have pain in their body.

We all do.

I did this week even and a lot of times people ask me,

Why did this happen?

Why does that happen?

And if you can think about in your own life,

If you're going through that now or you recently have,

Your body was trying to tell you something.

Without knowing the person more intimately and knowing what's going on in their lives,

The general response to it is that there's some kind of incongruency between what you want to do and the path that the universe has set out for you.

And those who have bigger desires or are moving at faster speeds will experience those signs and messages more frequently and in a bigger way.

So for example,

A person says,

I want to start enjoying my life and enjoying the moments as opposed to working so hard and being on the hamster wheel where you feel like you're just jumping from one thing to another person will either feel that they have this desire,

Say that out loud.

Sometimes they share it with us,

They share it with a mentor,

A friend,

And they even ask for help and they say,

Well,

How do I do that?

So they put that energy out there,

They put that vessel,

That desire out there,

As the Kabbalists say,

And then they move on with their life and they look for ways to make their life better.

But what's happening now is when you say something,

Even verbally or deep down inside,

You make that intention known to the universe.

You're asking for the universal power of good,

Which is the light of the Creator,

To assist you in that process.

So if you now do any type of action,

Which is going against what you said you want to do,

The universe starts to send you messages.

And we've talked about,

I talked about this in Kabbalah 2,

That there's four levels of messages where the universe is trying to tell you,

You might be on the wrong path.

The fourth level of it is when it's in the body.

So the first level is more of a hint.

Sometimes that's when a friend will come to you and tell you something or you hear something,

You hear it on our show,

On our podcast,

You'll hear it and you'll be like,

Oh,

That's a good message.

I should do that.

So that's like the hint.

That's the first level.

That's the first phase.

And the second and the third,

It becomes a little bit more in your face,

A little more intense.

And the fourth is the one we usually listen to the most.

We don't deny it unless we do deny it.

Then it goes to the fifth stage,

Which is death.

But the fourth stage is it's in the body.

The body is talking to you.

The body is trying to tell you something.

It doesn't mean you're a bad person.

It doesn't mean you're doing something wrong,

By the way.

It just means an adjustment is required.

Because if you point,

If you're supposed to go in one direction and you turn one degree to the left,

In the beginning it doesn't look like you're far off the mark.

But over time,

You'll distance yourself from the path you need to be on.

So that's the general answer to when the body has pain.

And there's so many books about like,

Oh,

This means that,

Back pain means this,

And leg pain means that,

And Kabbalah talks about it,

And a lot of other people out there talk about it.

And it's accurate.

So those are more of the details.

But ultimately,

We need to know,

I'm feeling something.

There's a signal.

I need to pause for a moment and understand what the signal means.

Right.

The universe,

The volume on the universe fluctuates from whisper to two by four,

Right?

At a certain point,

And I think that that's something that a lot of people experienced in this past year,

Is a situation where they could no longer ignore what was going on,

Right?

So part of the,

I guess the function of the universe,

You might look at that two by four as punishment,

Or as a bad sign.

It's very much something about the two by four.

You get whacked upside the head with something chaotic,

Something that's forcing you to change rather than giving you the choice,

The options.

I can think of so many examples where a person is sitting there and is looking,

Okay,

Well,

I can quit this job.

And this is a very,

We're talking about more internal choices,

But person can quit this job and move on to the next level or they can stay comfortable where they are.

And so you see those two examples and you fluctuate between the pros and the cons and you make your lists and you ask your mentors and at the end of the day,

You either take the leap or you don't.

But that kind of choice is a lot more comfortable than you get fired and you can't pay the bill.

So you've got to take whatever job comes your way.

The point is that it's a lot easier.

The Kabbalists use the term mercy.

When you're choosing change,

When you're choosing growth,

The path is much more merciful.

You have a lot more,

Not only what I would call support from the universe,

But it goes easier,

It goes smoother.

The hardest part is the choice.

And once the choice has been made,

It's sort of like a gliding into the next level.

Whereas when a person has to go through that change kicking and screaming,

There is a lot more chaos and misery,

Suffering that's attached to that change because of all of the,

It's like from the whisper to the two by four,

There's increasing levels of,

What's the word on a car drag.

Like you want an aerodynamic choice,

You want an aerodynamic process,

Pay attention to the signs and signals.

Choose earlier than waiting for the drag on the car to be so difficult that it's almost like you have to get out of the car and push it in order to get it to its next level.

So whereas you could have just glided to whatever that choice is to that next level,

Instead you're literally pushing tons of weight in order to get to the same spot.

And the body is,

A lot of us say things like,

Oh,

I wish I didn't have to deal with this,

Or why is this such a burden for me?

The truth is without the body,

And I look at one of the things that I like to do is to look at what other people are doing.

I think we talk about this a lot.

I like to look at which of the meditation experts has the most following,

What are they meditating on?

Or the up and coming authors or masterclass teachers,

And I'm always interested in what people are drawn to.

And one of the things that I see a lot of people drawn to is think your way,

Think and grow rich,

Change your mindset.

If you've ever read Think and Grow Rich,

You know that it really is all about changing your inner perspective,

Which then is going to result in external results,

External change.

It's guaranteed.

If you follow those,

He gives like whatever,

20 different things you've got to do,

No question,

You will experience an upgrade in your reality.

However,

With the spirituality that's out there,

A lot of it is a sort of rejection or denial of the burden of the physical reality,

Right?

Disconnect from it,

Don't pay attention to it.

Kabbalah teaches we need our bodies,

That without our bodies,

We actually cannot make progress spiritually,

At least in this very deep study about this,

About how eventually the body will be the vehicle by which we achieve total oneness with the light force of the Creator.

That's maybe for another episode.

But the idea is that we need our body.

Our body is just,

We say our body is a temple,

Right?

It is spiritual work to take care of your body and to honor it.

We are not here to deny it.

There's no sleeping on coals or push pins.

There's no flagellation.

The idea is that by my will controlling my body,

My body becomes a vehicle for expressing my soul.

And it's a very difficult,

I shouldn't say difficult,

It's very simple.

Yeah,

That's what it is.

It's not easy,

But it's simple.

The more I can be in tune with what's going on in my inner world,

The greater sense of purpose,

Fulfillment and control I'll have in my outer world.

We also talked about four phases where the universe gives you messages.

We also have four phases inside of us.

The concept of four phases is very deep in Kabbalah and we talk about it in our classes.

And maybe just to share a little bit of that depth and use some of the Kabbalistic phrasing because the phrasing has energy.

Sometimes we might use words in Aramaic or Hebrew from the original texts from thousands of years ago.

Also because the Kabbalists say,

Even though we're saying in English and saying in a fun and relatable way,

Because we want to relate to our audience,

We also want to draw from the original text and the sourcing.

So it says that these four phases also apply to the 10 dimensions without going too deep into it.

And the phrasing is called Chochma,

Binat,

Zarem Pin and Ma'khud.

What it really means is that Chochma is the person's thoughts.

It really starts with our thoughts and really there's even a stage before that which is like the intention of the person.

But we're not going to go there.

It just starts with the thoughts.

As soon as you start having certain thoughts about something,

It's already your energies being expressed in this world.

And this is why if the thoughts that come are not corrected or dealt with,

If they're negative thoughts,

The universe already starts to oppose you and interact with you based on what your thoughts are.

And these are why thoughts are so important.

Sometimes people dwell on negative thoughts.

Have you ever had a morning where you just woke up and you got into that kind of stressful situation,

You start having thoughts about someone or something and you're kind of cursing them in your mind and you're upset with them and you're having a dialogue in your head.

We do this in the shower a lot and we're just like sitting there under the hot water and it's melting you and you're just thinking about something over and over again.

Already what you're doing is you're telling the universe to interact with you.

If it's negative thoughts,

You're telling the universe,

Okay,

I know you know this isn't good but I'm not going to stop it.

You need to stop it.

You need to do something to wake me up.

And then from the thoughts,

It goes to kind of the feelings,

What's in your heart.

Sometimes it happens to me that I don't even remember why I'm in a bad mood but I just know that I've been harping on some conversation I wish I had done better or what I'm going to say next time.

And I'm like,

Wait a second,

Why do I feel like this?

Right,

Right.

And there's very subconscious stuff that starts even what we call the love of the keter.

But let's go to the second phase.

It's the feelings.

This is kind of what's in your heart.

So the thoughts usually lead to,

Then you feel a certain way,

Right.

So once you have a lot of negative thoughts,

You have to feel a certain way.

And Bina has two parts,

An internal and external part.

So internally you feel a certain way.

And then there's an external part which you can see on the face of someone.

You know,

When someone's feeling something,

Even if they're not talking about it or expressing it and they're trying to have a poker face on,

There's an energy that comes on their face because in Hebrew the word for face and the word for internal are the same letters,

Right?

Panim and Panimi.

So basically,

These are all secrets of palm and face to come about,

Which probably should do a whole show on that,

Which is you can tell from the energy on someone's face,

From their physical expression,

But also their spiritual energy on their face,

What they're feeling and what's going on inside of them.

And we all have this intuition,

We can see it.

This is the second phase,

Where then it's your feelings and your emotions.

And people who are dwelling in negative feelings and emotions for long periods of time without proactively trying to do something about it,

That's another signal you're sending to the universe.

And that's why sadness often attracts sadness and feelings of despondency or victim consciousness often attracts more abuse and more difficult situations,

Which then make you feel more like a victim.

And then the third and the fourth phase are the obvious ones which are voice and the words we speak.

Eventually you'll say the things that you're feeling and then it's the actions.

Eventually then you will do things that were based on that.

So these are the four levels.

When it gets to the level of the actions,

And then there's four levels from actions.

We're not going to go over all this in the show,

This is like what we teach in our classes,

But I want our listeners to understand the depth of where Kabbalah takes you.

We're not just trying to throw nice concepts at you,

We want to show you there's a science behind it.

And so the actions,

Eventually there are actions,

I'll just share it briefly,

There's actions where you know it's bad that you're doing it,

But you're just doing it anyway.

That's a good thing,

Because at least you still know it's bad.

Then eventually in the fourth phase of actions you actually start to justify it and it becomes part of your reality,

These negative actions that you do.

And again,

All started from the thoughts.

And the universe thankfully sometimes interrupts us and gives us a little pain here and there so we can adjust so that it doesn't have to go from thoughts all the way down to feelings and then our words,

Because once you start saying stupid things in front of people and doing stupid things in front of people,

Now you're really jeopardizing who you are and your reputation.

And then you become that person that everybody is annoyed with and then you justify why it's okay to become that person.

So as you can see here,

The anatomy of the soul and how it's expressed in relation to the interactions that the universe sends us.

One of the things that I found interesting,

I plan to share this before David went so deep,

But if you look,

We often,

One of the main texts,

The main text of Kabbalah,

The Zohar is really a decodification of the Bible.

And one of the prescriptions that's there related to illness,

Not feeling well,

Any sort of physical disconnect or discord is to isolate.

That the prescription,

Depending on the severity of the illness or the disease,

The prescription is isolation.

Now you might look at that and say,

Actually funny,

We're in a time where people need to quarantine or people need to,

You know,

There's different things that we need to do before we remerge back into society after we've been not well.

But the original intention of the isolation,

Regardless of contagion,

That's what really speaks to me.

It's not about if you're contagious or not,

It's that when a person has,

Let's say a skin rash or really any kind of form of illness,

The prescription is to isolate,

Whether it's for three days,

For seven days,

Then to check themselves with a spiritual master.

But the idea of the isolation isn't about contagion.

It's about giving the individual time to reflect on what's going on.

Why am I,

What were the actions that led to the ailment?

And that to me is where real healing begins.

Healing begins when the person begins really to reflect.

And you look at a lot of people who have gone through major illness or even witnessed a loved one who goes through major illness.

And as a result,

They do a 180 in their own lives.

It changes them dramatically,

Not just physically,

Right?

It may have some physical ramifications as well,

But it alters them at their very core because the ailment itself is the result of needing that.

And I have a very dear friend who recently got some very,

What's the word,

Unfortunate test results and for different reasons was very distraught by it,

Family history and different things like that.

And so we talked about how,

What's the best way not just to make sure that these numbers change in the test,

But that the universe doesn't need to send any other test results like this.

It wasn't even to the point of illness.

It was really just a point of doctors saying bad things.

And what was amazing to see is that this person took it to heart,

Not as,

Yes,

There are certain physical things I need to do to be healthier,

But that's just one slice of the pie.

The universe is really telling me,

And I'm not telling you,

I'm not using this example to tell every one of our thousands of listeners,

These are the things you need to do,

But it was an opportunity to reflect on there are certain things I know I should be doing that I don't.

Setting more healthy boundaries,

Taking better care of myself,

Honoring the parts of myself.

I know something I have a conversation with a lot of students is,

Especially in when we become parents,

We forget about the hobbies and the joys,

The things that we enjoy in life because our time and energy gets consumed by keeping things that we love very safe and healthy and growing and in the right environment.

Eventually those kids grow up and they,

Quote,

Leave the nest.

And then parents are just sitting there like,

What are we going to watch tonight?

Rather than remembering,

They loved nature,

They love music,

They love painting,

Whatever it is that they love.

And so it ended up becoming this renaissance,

Or it's still a work in progress.

And I think that's one of the main things that I see in people,

Those of us who are spiritual and studying Kabbalah even,

We end up,

We know what we need to do.

We know it's going to be uncomfortable.

We hold our breath through it and then we get to the other side of it.

We say,

Okay,

I did it.

Right?

And then we're relieved because we did the uncomfortable thing.

The real goal is not to brace yourself,

Get uncomfortable,

Do what's hard for me,

And then go back to being comfortable.

The real goal is to incorporate what's uncomfortable for me into my comfort zone,

To be able to do it.

You know,

Whatever I dreaded before now becomes something that I look forward to or that I enjoy or that,

You know,

Even maybe I don't enjoy it,

But at least I'm good with doing it.

And it's no longer something I brace myself for.

So in doing that 180,

It's not about,

Okay,

I've got to do it just until the next test.

And then hopefully when the test is over,

I actually watched the TV show yesterday where the person,

Some of you I'm sure know the show,

The person went for a catheterization,

Catheterization,

Like a heart stent.

And the doctor said,

Did any KG and said,

You know what,

You don't even need to do this anymore.

And the first thing he did was he went and smoked a cigarette.

Because before when the doctor told him he was getting sick,

He stopped smoking.

But the moment he heard he was okay,

He went and he grabbed the cigarette.

That kind of temporary,

I'm bracing myself,

It's difficult for me.

And then when things are going to go back to normal,

I'm going to go back to my negative or destructive ways.

That is going to ask the universe to bring a two by four as well.

Right.

This is a deep concept.

This is called the central column,

Where oftentimes we are one way when things are good,

And then another way when things are bad.

And if a person wants to know,

What's the universe trying to tell me?

Well,

One thing that the universe is trying to tell everybody is to get to that equilibrium where you view the darkness and the light both as one.

And you feel acceptance and joy in both equally.

Because what we do usually is we get overly excited when we start to get signals that things are going our way.

And we get sad and have anxiety and fear when they don't go our way.

And we're always reacting as a result.

People say,

What's the purpose of my life?

The first purpose is to get to that place where you're not reacting.

This is Kabbalah 1,

Class 1,

Where you are also not shutting down and becoming numb,

Because that's the opposite side of this.

It's being present and realizing that what you're going through,

Both the good and bad,

Is an illusion.

And you're taking control over it.

As our teacher Rob Berg would say,

Kabbalah helps you take life and everything that's going on and put it in a box where you can view it and you can be in control of it,

As opposed to feeling overwhelmed by it.

So this is called the central column.

It's also called Tiferet.

It's the point of restriction,

If I can use some more of the Kabbalahistic terminology.

Well,

I had something,

As Elisheva was talking,

That brought to my mind another concept about wanting to know what the universe is telling you.

In order to decipher that message,

It will never be revealed to you what the message is as long as you think the message shouldn't be happening.

As long as you think that this situation is either bad,

Shouldn't be happening to you,

It's wrong,

God made a mistake and you're upset about it.

Or you're being punished.

I think a lot of people look at when they go through a challenge or they don't get what they want,

That it's a punishment or it's a bad sign.

Or there's something wrong with me.

All of these emotions,

Even though it seems like maybe they're spiritual in some ways,

I can beat myself up,

Actually what they do is they put you in a frequency where there's no affinity with the light of the Creator.

So you actually can't have the Creator speak to you.

We talked about this once around death because this week also has lots to do with death and reincarnation,

That energy is there.

The secrets of souls who passed away can be revealed during this week.

And there's a period of mourning after death,

Which the Kabbalists say is important for the body to go through to release the soul of the person who died.

After that week,

There's another 30-day period from the moment of death and burial.

But then there's another phase where acceptance and joy is actually what brings you closer to the soul that passed.

Because that's how you have affinity with the soul that passed.

A lot of times people think that in order to maintain the memory of the person,

To have respect for the deceased,

I should feel sad or upset or maybe not even move on because I'm in some way disgracing them or not respecting the one who's passed.

But actually,

Kabbalists say,

Having acceptance and joy and being able to move on brings you to a closer affinity with the person who passed away.

And as a result,

That soul can visit you and talk to you and communicate with you and so on and so forth,

Which is something more of a reincarnation class.

Acceptance of the painful situation is the fastest way to receive the message of why it's happening.

And if you're wondering why something is happening and you're not getting the message,

Because you haven't paused and accepted,

Even if you were faking it but you're trying to accept it,

This will reveal the message.

That's good advice I've been giving a lot of people in the past year is to at least live life at a slow enough pace that you're aware of the opportunities to ask those kinds of questions.

Because a lot of us run,

Like you said before,

We're on a hamster wheel.

I shared,

I woke up this morning late and honestly,

It may very well be a marathon until this evening comes.

But most of us live our lives like that.

We hit snooze until we can't get away with it anymore.

We jump,

Run out of bed,

Take care of our physical needs really quickly,

Get dressed or pop in front of the computer to do emails or zooms,

Meeting,

Meeting,

Meeting,

Meeting,

Meeting,

Work,

Work,

Work,

Work,

Work.

It might be two o'clock before we realize that we might be eating while we're working.

It's like this constant,

We're acting like we're sprinting when really it's a marathon and we sprint from thing to thing to thing to thing to thing.

And then only at the end of the day when we slow down,

What we've done or the opportunities we missed may or may not catch up with us.

And it's like,

What happened there?

What was I doing?

I can't believe I said that.

Oh,

I forgot.

I learned to say pause.

What a pleasure.

Why did I forget?

I should have said it then.

It's basically a recipe for a life of regrets.

And the amazing thing about slowing down,

I'm sure there are people who are hearing me saying,

I can't,

I have so much to do.

I'm not going to accomplish anything if I move more slowly,

I accomplished so little as it is.

The act of slowing down,

And this is very much in connection with the body versus soul challenge is that we're ignoring the signals because we're moving so fast.

Imagine yourself driving 70 miles an hour down the highway.

You're not going to see all the advertisements and the signs,

Turn here,

Stop here,

Last rest stop for the next 50 miles.

You're not going to see those signs if you're going so fast.

The idea is that if you are slowing down,

Not because you have to,

And that goes back to the whisper versus the two by four,

Choosing to slow down is actually a way to ensure that you have the ability to pause and say,

Why is this happening?

This is not the first time I've heard this feedback.

What can I learn from it?

Why do I feel like I'm pushing,

You know,

My head is up against the wall.

I'm banging my head over and over and over again.

Nobody's listening to me.

If we're moving too fast,

All of those scenarios end up feeling like they're about someone else.

Someone else is not doing what they're supposed to.

Someone else dropped the ball.

When really the whole,

As we say,

You know,

Almost every week,

Everything that's happening in my life and my movie is orchestrated for me.

If I'm fast forwarding all the time through the important parts,

Just because I've got stuff to do,

Or you know,

I have a deadline to reach or if I don't get home in time,

Dinner's not going to be ready.

There's so much that we allow to be relegated by if I don't,

When I don't,

That racing mentality that we miss the real opportunities that are being given to us to listen,

Not only to our body,

But to the signs and signals that are constantly broadcast by the universe.

Eventually,

If it comes to my physical body,

It's already an indication that I missed some messages that were given to me along the way.

I think that one of the big things we want to focus on,

Especially this month,

Is a tremendous opportunity.

The reason we're bringing these ideas to everybody's consciousness is because this is a month where we can achieve that spiritual healing that then results in greater physical well-being.

They're not two separate departments.

Maybe in our mind,

We say,

Okay,

Here's health and here's spirituality and here is my career and here's finances and here's my family.

No,

In the spiritual realm,

It is all one.

There are no dividers or compartments.

So by bringing an increased spiritual well-being,

We're enhancing the longevity and the wellness in every other area of our life.

Now,

The average,

I would say,

Quote unquote,

Person,

And then I'll give the mic back to David,

Looks at spirituality as a hobby.

It's something that I'll do when I have time.

When I have more time,

I'm going to read more,

I'm going to study more,

I'm going to meditate more.

The opposite,

You're hearing it from a mom to a lot of kids who have various demands who works a full-time job that often means working in the evenings.

The slower that you move,

The more you accomplish,

I promise you.

It's tried and tested.

You have my stamp of- That's only for people who move faster.

That's also true.

But I feel like- If you're slow by nature.

The more titles you have next to your name,

Chances are you're moving faster and doing more and thinking less.

I'm suggesting the more consciousness you inject,

The more time you make.

That's really the key.

The more time you make for spirituality,

The more time you have for everything else in your life.

Yeah.

David's speechless.

I thought I had something to say there.

Well,

No.

I mean,

I have something else I can- I do want to say a lot of engagement on our feeds here and always appreciate when you guys create engagement,

Ask us questions,

Let us know what you think about certain things that we say because we engage very reactively,

Actually,

Based on what you feel and what you want,

We want to provide for you.

Then,

Of course,

When you share and you broaden the audience,

We always get these emails.

I got something recently.

I get a lot of these messages on my Instagram and stuff like,

I just started listening to your show.

A friend of mine shared this.

They have no prior background in taking Kabbalah or Kabbalah 1,

Which it used to be that people would study this wisdom coming- First studying Kabbalah 1.

That was the way that people were always introduced.

I think now we're creating a platform relating to more people who don't actually have to take a structured course can learn this wisdom through our podcast,

Through our show.

I have questions that people wrote.

Actually,

We have a few questions that are actually the same question.

The question that I posed on the Weekly Energy Boost Instagram account was,

When is it hardest for you to know what to do?

What's interesting- You mean us.

Us.

The interesting thing is that the common theme for almost all of the questions,

I would say 98% of the questions were,

It's most confusing to know what to do when someone else is involved,

When my decision is going to affect others.

When it's only me and I'm choosing for myself,

It's more clear.

But when my decision is either for someone else or is going to affect others,

It's harder to know what to do.

That's true.

It's true.

But I have a little Jiminy Cricket voice in my head.

My conscience comes in and reminds me in those moments,

If it's win,

The best choice for all of us is the best choice for me.

What that means is that in any opportunity that we have to make a decision,

The answer always lies in the future,

Not in the right now.

The choices that we make that are not the right choices,

And that should be in italics,

The right choices,

It's because we're looking at what's in front of us right now and disregarding the long-term effects.

What do I mean by that?

Very simple example.

My daughter loves chocolate.

She could eat chocolate all day and all night.

If she asks if she's persistent enough,

She knows I may break down.

So she is persistent.

If I give her all the chocolate that she wants,

Will I have peace and quiet now?

Yes,

I will.

Is it going to serve anybody in the long term?

Absolutely not.

That's a very stark example,

But I promise you all choices are like that.

If I'm looking for relief in the moment,

Or I'm looking for someone else to provide relief for someone else in the moment,

It will only create more damage in the long term.

The right choice is going to be win-win for everyone in the long term,

Not in the short term.

For that reason,

We invite people to look at those situations.

The best advice I ever got was to imagine you're watching what's going on on a movie screen.

I don't know if it happens to you,

Maybe movie screen,

TV screen is a more accurate example right now.

You've ever looked at somebody in an opening,

Is about to cheat on their significant other and you're like,

No,

No,

Don't do that.

You're telling the character what to do or in a bad horror movie,

They're about to open the closet door and you don't open the door.

You know what they should be doing.

It's easy when you're not involved to make a better choice.

If you can watch what's going on on a movie screen and give yourself the advice you would give the actor or actress you were watching on TV,

Chances are you'll make the better choice.

What happens is the body,

And I actually wanted to read something I read really beautiful.

The body is not necessarily,

When I say the body,

I also mean the emotions,

Is sometimes going to pull us back into looking at how everybody feels right now.

That sometimes when you really love someone,

You have to deprive them of what they want because that's going to help them most in the long term.

I want to read this.

It's just a couple of paragraph and a half or whatever.

An article that I found,

Again,

I've been sharing different things that I'm reading in order to prepare for each episode and I think this one is particularly beautiful.

Is this another poem?

It's not a poem.

It's an article by Karen Bird.

She says that life is a lot like walking up the down escalator.

If we stop climbing and making effort on our spiritual path,

We can feel as if we're slowly moving downward.

With spirituality,

We can ascend in this world,

Even if we're on an escalator moving downward.

There is a beautiful defined balance inherent within each of us.

Our body wants to sleep,

Eat,

And feel comfort.

Our soul,

However,

Pines every day for union with the creator.

These two forces together allow us to exist in the world.

This is the hidden balance of the human experience.

It is a divine and beautiful system that the creator created so that we may learn our spiritual lessons.

If it were not for the desires of the body,

We would not be able to fully develop our divine attributes of love,

Care,

And concern for others.

It is the existence of the night that allows us to understand and appreciate the day.

This force of the body that wishes to receive for the self alone is a relentless force.

Like the down escalator,

It is forever imposing its energy upon us.

However,

We have our soul,

Our gift from the creator.

Our soul is our birthright and our constant link to the creator.

It is our light,

Our reprieve,

And our power to rise above the forces of self-involvement,

Apathy,

Ego,

All of those things the Kabbalists refer to as a desire to receive for the self alone.

Our soul is our inner truth,

And the soul has but one desire to share.

We are at our greatest and most authentic when we are in alignment with our soul's desire.

This week,

We are bestowed with the precious gift to connect further with our inner divinity,

Allowing us to rise above any challenges or negativity that may be present in our lives.

That's really,

I think,

The crux of what we were trying to bring here is that in that conflict,

Right,

I want relief,

I want things to be okay right now,

We're sometimes sacrificing our true desire,

The desire of our soul,

Which is to be in greater affinity with the light.

The body sometimes comes into interfere,

Not so that we'll give in,

But so that we will recognize,

Okay,

This is not in affinity.

Right now,

I'm not acting like the creator,

I'm not acting like the light,

I want to be left alone.

If anybody has ever said,

Just leave me alone,

That is an indication that we are not in touch with our soul.

And so that doesn't mean that we don't take time and we've spoken about this ad nauseum about,

You know,

It's important to take care of yourself and to know your limitations.

And we had a couple months ago,

A guest that was sharing about how to know when you're in the red,

And it's essential.

But at the same time,

It's also important to acknowledge the disparity between those two forces,

And to learn how to both take care of the body.

I think I shared it a couple weeks ago,

You know,

If you know you're going to get hangry,

Put a bar in your pocket so that you won't get that way,

Right?

And prevent yourself from being your best when you know your limitations.

In the same way,

We are here to do as much as we can to amplify the voice of our soul and to nurture that voice.

So it is the dominant force in our day to day lives.

Beautiful.

And also,

To the point of when people say,

When is it hard for you guys to make decisions?

When I heard that,

I said,

Well,

I probably have a list of like 15 open items where I don't know what to do.

And it actively bothers me about what to do,

How to do it,

How fast to do it,

Who to do it with.

And it's just not clear to me,

Right?

It's not clear to me what to do.

And I was thinking about it and I said,

Well,

When was it ever clear to me?

And I would say,

And then I started thinking about my students,

I started thinking everybody I'm close with,

And it seems like at any given moment,

There's something on their plate that is confusing to them.

It might be totally clear to everybody else because we're always very good at giving other people advice and seeing their big picture more than they are.

But then I realized that something called or makif,

The surrounding light of the person,

Your surrounding light is always trying to manifest to become your inner light,

To become your new reality,

Light that's been earned by your vessel.

And the way that the surrounding light expresses itself and knocks on your door is by presenting confusion to you.

So even though we all want a life where everything's clear,

That doesn't make any sense because the only way to go from one level to another is through the door of confusion.

And not knowing what to do is the door that every Kabbalist looked for because that is the door to your soulmate.

That is the door to financial security,

To understanding how the world works,

To healing things you don't even know are sick,

To having a feeling where you have a purpose,

To finding the right circle of friends and people to be with.

It's usually through the door of confusion.

So while people don't ever want a reality when they're confused,

It is the reality of confusion that actually is the doorway and the gateway to your next level.

So I can't really remember a time where I had less than 15 confusing things on my list.

This is also a period,

By the way,

Where things feel heavier than they are in reality.

You know,

The little sign on the mirror that says things in the mirror are closer than they appear,

Your rearview mirror.

So right now we're in a period in the Kabbalistic calendar where things are heavier than they appear.

And I think it's important to bring it up also with regard to our topic this week because there is a Kabbalistic,

I would say,

Adage or saying that the harder something is to do,

The more light it reveals.

And in times like now where things may feel especially dark,

And I say they feel especially dark,

What I mean is that you may have no reason to be in a bad mood or to feel heavy,

Lethargic,

Dread,

But yet for some reason you do.

That is a collective energy that we're going through right now.

It's a heavy period that we're in right now.

And the Kabbalists teach that those things that we do that reveal light,

You know,

What are the things that we do that reveal light?

Anytime we share,

We get outside of our comfort zone,

We do something proactive,

We go against our selfish nature.

In times like these,

We reveal much more light than in a time where we're not feeling that way.

So the body telling us,

Well,

You know,

I'm tired or it's heavy,

Or I don't really feel like it.

You know,

You can imagine if you hold a candle up on a sunny day,

Right,

How powerful is the addition of that candle to the light in the moment versus in the dead of night,

If you light that candle,

You illuminate the whole forest or the whole stadium or the whole house.

So that candle right now,

Whatever you're able to do,

Whatever light you're able to reveal,

Even praying for someone,

You know,

I was reading,

I read something beautiful that the Kabbalists say that,

You know,

When you're prompted to say a kind word to someone or to reach out to someone with words of love and care,

That prompt that suddenly you want to say something nice is not you,

It's the Creator.

And those kind of words can be healing to the other person.

So especially in this time,

It's important to acknowledge the heaviness,

But also know that whatever light we are able to reveal in this time,

It has much more impact,

It's much more dramatic,

It's much more influential against the contrast of the darkness,

Then let's say a time when you're in the mood,

You're feeling good,

You're bursting with energy and joy and just can't help but share it,

It has a lot more impact when you feel the opposite of that.

That's all I got.

Alrighty,

So we will continue this conversation in the coming two weeks as well,

Around how to increase our spiritual and physical wellness according to the wisdom of Kabbalah.

I encourage everybody to share,
