11. Forgiveness
Hurt and anger are baggages that hold a person back in life. Using visualizations, this meditation guides the listener towards letting go of past hurt and resentment, and towards the freedom that is the result of forgiveness.

Hello,
Welcome to Guided Jewish Meditations.
My name is Eliezer.
Forgiveness is a divine gift.
It is an act of grace that goes against the natural flow of time.
If someone hurts someone else,
It is in the past and nothing will ever change that.
How can forgiveness ever change what has occurred?
During today's meditation,
We will discover that not only is forgiveness possible irrespective of the past,
It is also irrespective of the person who caused the hurt in the first place.
To forgive is a divine gift you can give to yourself.
It is a precious,
Beautiful,
Immensely freeing and powerful present that involves only one person,
You.
During this meditation,
It is important that you remain undisturbed.
To this end,
Try and find a place where you won't be interrupted over the next 30 minutes or so.
Sit or lay down and gently close your eyes.
Allow yourself to fully relax.
Place your arms and legs in a comfortable position and feel your body's weight sink into what's beneath you.
Take a deep breath in through your nose,
Hold the air for a moment and exhale completely through your mouth.
By breathing evenly and deeply,
Allow your entire body to fully relax and shift your focus on your heart,
The seat of your emotional composition.
This is the seat of your Ruach,
The level of your soul connected to your emotions.
As today's meditation will involve your emotions,
Focus all of your attention on your Ruach.
As you breathe in deeply,
Allow the air to stream freely into your heart,
Filling it with light.
And as you exhale,
Expel from your body and heart any negative emotions you may be feeling at this time.
Continue breathing deeply and evenly,
And as the air you breathe in fills you more and more with divine light,
Allow this light to replace any negative emotions,
Leaving you as you exhale,
Leaving you relaxed,
Filled with spiritual potential and light,
And in a deep meditative state.
Shame.
You allow your mind's eye to open and find yourself sitting on a hill overlooking an immense valley surrounded by all sides with majestic mountains.
The air is still,
Warm and sweet as you slowly take in your surroundings.
From all around you,
The stillness of the air is infused with radiant spiritual energy.
Speaking of the potential for growth and healing in this world,
Take a deep breath.
Allow this sweet air to fill your lungs,
Feel the spirituality woven into the fabric of this world enter you and fill you with light,
Strength and courage.
You instinctively feel the time for personal growth has arrived.
A time to improve your life,
To take ownership of your well-being and future and to let go of some of the negativity that has held you back for far too long.
Let assume explorers come to help when they are not afろ0200 whistleblower as a catalogue of course some sort of book brew leathermed that no longer needs to collect.
As you slowly begin to stand up,
You feel your body refuse to move.
An endless weight seems to hold you down,
Causing your body to be unable to budge.
As you take a closer look,
You see rings of light held together in the form of linked chains attached to your arms and legs.
The rings seem to be floating in mid-air,
Extending out into the distance,
Disappearing into the haze of the horizon.
Taught and strong,
The rings cause you to be unable to move.
Taking a deep breath,
You gently close your eyes and allow your mind to meditate on these chains.
Allowing your mind to wander over them,
You try and discover their secret.
What holds you back in life?
Why do you find yourself unable to progress?
Stuck in an eternal rut,
Held back in perpetuity?
As you meditate on these questions,
You feel the light contained in these chains enter you,
Slowly,
Through your arms and legs.
The light merges at the center of your chest,
Lighting you up,
Filling you with divine warmth.
As the light enters your mind,
You feel it begin to form images in your mind.
As these images begin to form stories,
You recognize them as memories of times in your life you were gravely hurt.
You instinctively push them aside,
But they slowly come back through this light,
Entering your mind and trying to allow you to let them into your consciousness.
This happened.
Yes,
It hurt.
It wounded you so deeply.
And now it's time to let go.
Let us go.
Please let us go.
Let us go so you can be free again.
As these words echo in your mind,
You slowly begin to meditate on one of these stories,
One of your own choosing,
Allowing the hurt to slowly enter your heart and mind.
As you begin to feel this hurt,
You hear the words you heard earlier reverberate in your mind.
Let us go.
Become free of us.
As you continue meditating on this mantra,
You feel the pain slowly merge with the light in your heart.
Let us go.
Let us go.
Let us go.
You realize deep within your heart that this pain,
This hurt that has invaded your life is not an integral part of you.
You were born free,
Free of hurt,
Clear of pain,
And this hurt was imposed upon you.
Deep within you lies the power to simply let go of all of it.
The shackles that hold you back are not a part of who you are,
And they do not represent a part of you that you must carry along with you for the rest of your life.
As you meditate on this truth,
You feel the light contained within you slowly spread across your body and into your arms and legs.
Take a deep breath.
Right now,
At this moment in time,
Try and let go just a little bit of this hurt and pain.
Simply let it go,
This little bit of pain,
Remove it from your consciousness,
And fill its place with light.
Recognize that this pain and resentment is not a part of you.
It is a self-imposed restraint,
And you have the power to let it go.
Let it go.
Let it go.
Let it go.
As you slowly remove this hurt from your life,
You feel the divine light slowly flow into the chains holding onto your arms and legs.
Taking its way up the chains,
You see the chains begin to glow,
Grow in size,
And release some of the tension holding you down,
Enabling you to move.
You slowly stand up tall and begin to feel a sensation of weightlessness form in your arms and legs.
You begin to walk along this hill,
Encouraged by this newfound feeling of freedom,
Until you feel the chains,
Now stretching behind you into the distance,
Hold you back yet again.
You stop walking and take a deep breath.
Focusing on your heart and soul,
You try and find the courage within you to free yourself completely of this restraint.
Meditating on your soul,
Your divine connection with the eternal creator,
A deep truth begins to reveal itself in your mind.
Forgiveness does not exonerate the person who hurt you.
In fact,
It doesn't involve this person at all.
Fervness is the act of freeing yourself of the anger and resentment that hold you back,
That keep you from living to your fullest potential.
This pain is living deep within you,
Free of charge,
A squatter who holds on for dear life to stay with you.
Try and find the courage to evict this squatter.
Meditate on how your life could be without this pain and resentment holding you back.
Imagine in your mind a day in your life without this anger.
Allow this freedom to take a hold of your heart,
Fill your emotions with light,
And encourage you,
Even just a little bit,
To just let go.
As your meditation on trying to forgive this hurt intensifies,
You realize that forgiving is not something that can be done all at once.
It is a process,
Slow at first,
But one that takes on a life of its own.
When you truly realize that forgiveness is a precious divine gift,
A gift you give exclusively to yourself,
It becomes a freedom you seek every day,
More and more,
Until one day you find yourself a completely free person once again.
No longer restrained by chains,
You are able to meditate and think about the person who hurt you and say,
You no longer have the power to hold me back.
I have taken this power back to where it belongs,
With me.
My life is exclusively mine once again,
To live as I wish and as I choose,
Without my decisions being influenced by this anger and resentment.
It is at this point that you realize that the greatest reaction you can have to being hurt by someone is to let go of this hurt,
To be happy,
Free and able to freely choose your journey in life.
Resolve to make this your journey.
Form a plan in your mind to reach this goal.
Live and be free yet again.
We are nearing the conclusion of this meditation.
Slowly bring your mind back to your body and the present.
Breathe deeply and evenly,
Giving yourself as much time as you need until you feel your mind and consciousness have fully returned.
Thank You for your loving stroll.
This concludes this meditation on forgiveness.
It is my sincere hope that this meditation has helped you even just a little bit to see a glimpse of the freedom that forgiveness brings.
Even if it takes a long time to fully forgive,
It is a journey that leaves you free,
Stronger and ready to live your life to the fullest.
My name is Eliezer.
May peace be with you.
May peace be with you.
May peace be with you.
May peace be with you.
