Contemplation Meditation on Nisargadatta Maharaj's book I Am That.
Chapter 4 Real World is Beyond the Mind.
In contemplation we let the words sink in without judging,
Without analyzing,
But being completely aware and avoiding getting lost in trance or in sleep.
For the same you can keep your eyes open or you may close your eyes.
Time,
Space,
Causation are mental categories.
They arise and subside within the mind.
Like everything mental,
The so-called law of causation contradicts itself.
No thing in existence has a particular cause.
The entire universe contributes to the existence of even the smallest thing.
Nothing could be as it is without the universe being what it is.
When the source and ground of everything is the only cause of everything,
To speak of causality as a universal law is wrong.
When the source and ground of everything is the only cause of everything,
To speak of causality as a universal law is wrong.
The universe is not bound by its content.
The potentialities of the universe are infinite.
The universe is a manifestation or expression of a principle fundamentally and totally free.
It is the illusion of time that makes you talk of causality.
Think about causality.
When the past and future are seen in the timeless now as parts of a common pattern,
The idea of cause-effect loses its validity and creative freedom takes its place.
Past and future are actually in the timeless now.
Past and future are parts of a common pattern.
The idea of a linear cause-effect is not a valid idea.
A thing can exist without a particular cause.
Your own mother was not needed to give you birth.
You could have been born from some other woman.
But you could not have been born without the sun and the earth.
Even these could not have caused your birth without the most important factor,
Your own desire to be born.
It is desire that gives birth.
It is desire that gives name and form.
The desirable is imagined.
The desirable is wanted.
And therefore,
It manifests itself as something tangible or conceivable.
Thus,
This world is created in which we live.
It is a personal world created out of desire.
The real world is beyond the mind's game.
Sometimes we see the real world through the net of our desires.
Our net is divided into pleasure and pain,
Right and wrong,
Inner and outer.
Through this net of desires,
We sometimes peep and glimpse the real world which is beyond.
To see the universe as it is,
You must step beyond the net of your own desires.
It is not hard to do so because your net is full of holes.
Look at the net of your desires.
Look at its many contradictions.
You do and undo at every step.
You want peace,
You want love,
You want happiness,
But you work very hard to create pain.
You work very hard to create hatred.
You work hard to create war.
You do and undo at every step.
You want longevity,
You want to live long and healthy,
But you overeat.
You want friendship,
But you exploit others.
Look carefully at your net of desires.
It is made of contradictions.
Remove the contradictions just by recognizing them.
Your very seeing them will make them go.
For everything,
There are innumerable causal factors.
Desire is one of the many causal factors.
The source of all that is,
Is the infinite possibility,
The supreme reality.
The source of everything is in you.
This source throws its power and light and love on every experience.
The source is within you.
This source is not a cause.
And no cause can be a source.
Because of that,
I say,
Everything is uncaused.
You may try to trace how a thing happens,
But you cannot find out why the thing is hazardous.
You may try to trace how a thing happens,
But you cannot find out why the thing is hazardous.
You may try to trace how a thing happens,
But you cannot find out why the thing is hazardous.
The thing is as it is because the universe is as it is.
The thing is as it is because the universe is as it is.
The universe is as it is.
The universe is as it is.
The universe is as it is.
The universe is as it is.
