Let's do a self-exploration meditation on Maharaja's words from the chapter,
I Am That,
23.
Maharaja's words are,
Replace self-love by love of the self,
And the picture changes.
Let's sit comfortably and let's close our eyes.
Take the stand of the witness of the person.
Observe the person.
Observe the distance between the person and yourself,
The witness.
Let the witness collapse naturally.
Rest in the non-dual beingness.
Recognize that at times,
There is a peace,
Calm,
Bliss.
And at other times,
The witness comes up,
Brings a thought up or a feeling,
Becomes one with it and starts drama.
Instead of ignoring or pushing away the drama wave,
Examine it thoroughly.
Recognize that the witness has a tendency to lose its position and assume to be the person.
Instead of slipping away with it,
Simply observe this phenomena.
Give it complete attention.
See the drama wave not as you imagine it to be,
But as it is.
By simply giving it your attention,
It vanishes.
Another wave might soon appear.
Simply another drama wave,
A wave of feeling or thought or sensation or the memory of some perception.
It appears due to self-love.
It seeks a reward.
Its reward is the slipping away of the witness and assuming to be the person.
It appears due to self-love.
Turn this around to love for the self,
Love for the beingness,
And the wave will vanish.
The wave is simply a desire for bliss,
And desire creates pain because it takes the witness away from beingness.
Departing from the beingness is painful for the witness.
Hence,
All waves of thought,
Feeling,
Sensation,
And perception are merely pain as they are born of desire.
The entire universe of pain is born of desire.
And desire is always for bliss.
The wave is simply a desire for bliss,
But it always ends in pain because of the departure of the witness from the beingness.
Thus,
Bliss becomes the seed of pain.
With this clear seeing that pleasure is the seed of pain,
Allow the lower witness to give up the pleasurable wave and collapse into the beingness,
Collapse into the higher witness.
And there might be a slipping away again.
Recognize that.
Acknowledge that for the sake of pleasure,
The witness consciousness assumed to be I and started running after a feeling,
Sensation,
Thought,
Or perception.
It imagines itself to be the doer or experiencer in a world and seeks reward from doership or from experiencership.
For the sake of pleasure,
It commits the sin,
The sin of I-ness,
Asmita.
The sin of I-ness or Asmita is followed by the sin of doership or Karta.
And hand-in-hand follows the sin of experiencership or Bhoota.
For the sake of pleasure,
It commits sins and therefore,
All this leads to suffering.
Recognize that pleasure is the seed of pain.
Discard pleasure.
Rest as the witness consciousness or lower witness of the person in the world wave.
And then let go of the pain.
Allow this lower witness to collapse into the higher witness or being-ness.
Simply be.
Recognize that whenever there is an I,
There is a world.
When there is no I,
There is no world.
In short,
You are your world.
When there is the witness consciousness assuming to be I,
The person,
There is a world that is experienced.
When there is no witness consciousness assuming to be the person falsely,
There is no world.
There is simply the non-dual oneness.
There is no world to be saved out there as you are the world.
Save yourself first.
Save yourself from illusion.
Become free of the false I.
Salvation is to see things as they are.
Simply giving attention to whatever drama wave is arising and falling means seeing things as they are.
Give it complete attention.
The wave will vanish,
Leaving behind freedom from the illusion of an I in a world.
Salvation is to see things as they are.
See it as it is.
There is no continuous entity called the person that is constantly present.
There is only a thought that says I.
And this thought keeps arising and dissolving.
There is a thought that says I am the doer.
It also keeps arising and dissolving.
There is a thought that says I am the experiencer.
That also arises and dissolves.
See reality as it is.
Salvation from the illusion of a person that is the doer and experiencer is the first master key.
See it as it is.
There is no continuous entity called the world existing independently and continuously apart from me.
There is only the perception of sight that arises and dissolves.
There is only the perception of sound that arises and dissolves.
There is only the perception of smell that arises and dissolves.
There is only the perception of touch that arises and dissolves.
There is only the perception of taste that arises and dissolves.
And there is only one of these perceptions at a time.
These perceptions are never seen collectively all at once.
Memory creates a story by putting them together.
Recognize this truth.
See reality as it is.
Salvation from the illusion of a world is the second master key.
Apply these two master keys and the picture changes.
Once the picture changes from the person to an I-thought and from the world to perception,
Then dispassion sets in and self-love transforms into the love of the self.
The abidance in and as the non-dual beingness becomes invaluable.
Rest in the beingness.
Rest as the beingness.
Recognize that the root cause of the world is self-love.
But you cannot find peace or love in an illusory world.
Therefore,
Replace the self-love with the love of the self.
Turn towards the beingness.
Change the picture.
Turn towards the beingness.
It will become clearly evident that the beingness itself is merely a sum total of all desires.
And the so-called perceptions,
Sensations,
Thoughts and feelings are its instruments for the fulfillment of desires.
Whatever pleasure is taken by the I-thought that assumes to be the doer is paid by it in tears by assuming to be the experiencer of the fruit of its own doing.
That outer world is run by all illusions of doership,
Experiencership.
Even the illusory time-thought squares all the outer worldly accounts.
The law of balance reigns supreme.
Pain is the background of pleasure.
All seeking is born in pain and ends in pain.
Hence,
Replace self-love by love of the self.
And change the picture.
Change the picture.
Change the picture.
Thank you.
