AD SE - Ch 7 Shift The I
by Ekta Bathija
Listen to Ektaji guide us through a self-exploration meditation, "Shift the I", from Chapter 7 of Atmananda Krishna Menon's Atma Darshan. This meditation centers on shifting the "I" from the body-mind to the Atma. It begins by noticing the subtle doership in the thought "I am going to meditate" and inquiring who this "I" is and where it is located. The attempt to meditate assumes a meditator, placing the "I" at the body-mind level. Inquiry instead reveals a non-localized infinity-the real "I", the infinite NOW, which does not say "I". Restlessness is seen as the force that projects and perceives the illusory world, with projection and perception occurring inside-out. Body, mind, and person are recognized as labels within labels, all projections of Atma. By turning attention inward toward the source that illumines them, projections fade, the "I" collapses, and one abides as the infinite background of Nothingness- the NOW, the only actuality.
