Welcome, Noble Soul. In this 21-minute guided meditation, you’ll settle into a comfortable posture—seated or lying down—and bring gentle attention to your breath. Focus on the sensation of the breath beneath the nostrils, returning to it whenever the mind wanders. This practice invites you to observe irritation, discomfort, or disturbances without resistance. With each inhale, welcome calm; with each exhale, release tension. For other "Letting Go" meditations, go to the "Premium Tracks". Also, be sure to check out the 5-day Meditation Vipassana Course: Anapanasati Essentials for beginners, available in my profile (in playlists). It’s a comprehensive introduction to deep breath awareness and insight meditation to deepen your practice without music.

Welcome,

Noble soul.

Let's get ready for the practice.

Lie down or find a comfortable seated position,

Whether that's cross-legged,

Half-lotus,

Or simply sitting on a chair with a firm or softly cushioned surface beneath you.

Gently lengthen your spine,

Keeping your back straight,

But not rigid.

Close your eyes softly.

Allow your chest to open slightly forward and gently draw your thighs back.

Feel your weight grounding evenly onto your sit bones.

Throughout your practice,

Keep this posture steady and balanced while allowing your body to stay relaxed and at ease.

Settle fully into this posture and hold it gently throughout your entire session.

During the meditation,

Keep your attention focused on the sensation of the breath at the point just beneath the nostrils on the upper lip.

If your mind wanders or you become distracted,

Perhaps by thoughts,

Sounds,

Or sensations in your thighs or elsewhere,

Gently and patiently guide your attention back to the breath at this specific point.

Return again and again,

Allowing this focus to anchor you in the present moment.

Begin by bringing your attention gently to your breath.

Notice the natural flow of the inhale and exhale,

Effortless and steady.

Allow your breathing to become a soft rhythm,

Steady,

Calm,

And comforting.

As you breathe in,

Breathe in calm and ease.

As you breathe out,

Release any tension,

Any tightness in your body or mind.

Now,

Bring to mind any irritation or discomfort you might be feeling,

The little annoyances,

The people or situations that disturb your peace.

Recognize that irritation is a natural part of life.

It may arise like a ripple on the surface of a still lake.

Let them irritate.

Yes,

Let them be.

Allow the sensation of irritation or disturbance to be present,

Without pushing it away,

Without fighting it.

It's okay to feel what you feel.

You don't have to fix it or change it.

Just let it exist here with you,

Like a visitor passing through your space.

Feel the resistance to irritation.

Notice if you want to push it away,

Silence it,

Or distract yourself.

And now gently,

With kindness,

Soften that resistance.

Let them irritate,

And still,

I remain calm.

Return your focus to the breath.

Each inhale invites calmness,

Each exhale invites release.

Repeat silently to yourself.

Calmness in my breath is stronger than any irritation.

I allow irritation to be here,

But it does not control me.

I choose calm within.

As irritation rises and falls,

Observe it as part of your experience,

But not your identity.

Imagine irritation as a wave that comes and goes in the ocean of your mind.

You are the vast,

Steady ocean beneath.

Let them irritate.

Let them be.

You do not need to cling to irritation,

Nor do you need to resist it.

You can let it move through you,

Like clouds drifting across the sky.

Feel your body relax deeper with each breath.

Feel the space inside growing wider,

More spacious.

If your mind wanders into stories about what caused irritation,

Or how it should be different,

Gently bring your awareness back to the breath.

Let go of what you cannot control.

Keep your attention focused on the sensation of the breath,

At the point just beneath the nostrils on the upper lip.

If your mind wanders,

Or you become distracted,

Perhaps by thoughts,

Sounds,

Or sensations in your thighs,

Or elsewhere,

Gently and patiently guide your attention back to the breath at this specific point.

Return again and again,

Allowing this focus to anchor you in the present moment.

Notice the natural flow of the inhale and exhale,

Effortless and steady.

Allow your breathing to become a soft rhythm,

Steady,

Calm,

And comforting.

Recall the wisdom of the Stoics,

Who taught us that freedom comes when we stop clinging to things beyond our power.

Freedom is won by disregarding things that lie beyond our control.

You can't control others,

Their actions,

Or the world around you,

But you can control how you respond.

Let them irritate,

Let them be.

As you continue to breathe,

Place your hand gently on your chest.

Feel the warmth and steady beat of your heart,

A living reminder that beneath every passing sensation there is a constant presence,

Unchanging and ever steady.

This rhythm,

Like the Earth's heartbeat beneath our feet,

Is your anchor in the flow of life.

Remember,

Irritation is temporary.

It arises like a wave on the vast ocean of your awareness,

Rising,

Cresting,

And falling back into stillness.

This wave may stir the surface,

But it cannot penetrate the depths.

The true self is like the ocean beneath the waves,

Vast,

Deep,

And untouched by the turbulence above.

You are that ocean,

Bigger,

Deeper,

And more resilient than any moment of discomfort or irritation.

Softly,

Silently,

Or aloud,

Let these words settle into your being,

As if whispered by the sages of old.

I am still here.

I am still breathing.

Allow these affirmations to sink deeply into your awareness,

Steadying your mind and heart like the roots of an ancient tree,

Grounding you firmly in your true nature.

When thoughts or emotions arise,

See them as clouds drifting lazily across a clear,

Vast sky.

Neither chasing after them nor clinging to them,

Return your attention gently and patiently to the breath,

Your constant,

Faithful companion throughout the ages.

The breath has been the anchor for countless seekers from desert hermits to mountain sages.

It is always here for you,

Steady and true.

Let the irritation be present.

Let the mind observe without judgment.

Your breath is your anchor,

Steady as the northern star for sailors lost at sea.

Each inhale grounds you in this present moment.

Each exhale releases what no longer serves you.

Let them irritate.

Let them be.

And I choose calm.

In this stillness,

Recognize that irritation is not your enemy,

But a messenger,

An invitation to deepen patience,

Presence and sovereign self-awareness.

Like the blacksmith who tempers steel by fire,

Irritation tempers the strength of your inner calm.

Beneath every wave of irritation lies a deep,

Quiet ocean of awareness,

Calm,

Vast and unshaken.

This sanctuary within is your birthright.

It has been known and held by meditators through the centuries,

In distant lands and silent caves.

Know that this presence is not something you need to create or achieve.

It simply is the natural ground of your being,

Always accessible like the sky above,

No matter the storms passing below.

If irritation persists,

Do not resist or push it away.

Resistance is the source of suffering.

Instead,

Soften your relationship to it.

Notice how trying to hold on tightly or rejecting the feeling only feeds its intensity.

When you relax into what is,

The tight grip loosens,

Like a hand unclenching from a stone.

Open fully to the experience,

Allowing irritation to exist without losing yourself in it.

Let your awareness be like a vast open space,

Wide enough to hold whatever arises.

Slowly,

When you are ready,

Deepen your breath.

Exhale fully,

Releasing any lingering tension or resistance.

Bring your awareness gently back to the room.

Wiggle your fingers and toes.

When you feel ready,

Open your eyes softly.

You have practiced letting irritation be,

Without letting it control you.

You have chosen calm,

An unshakable calm,

Arising not from external conditions,

But from the deep wellspring of your own steady presence.

Carry this peace with you as you move through your day,

Knowing that no external event,

No irritation,

No disturbance can touch the stillness that dwells within.

This stillness is your refuge,

Your strength and your freedom,

Timeless,

Vast and always present.
