The Obsidian Lake.
Once you are sitting comfortably with your eyes closed,
Take a deep breath in through your nose.
Let the air you breathe in flow right to the bottom of your stomach,
Filling your body to the top of your chest.
Hold this in breath for a count of three,
Then exhale slowly and steadily again through your nose,
Emptying your chest of all the air it holds.
Once there is no more breath in your body,
Hold for another count of three.
Follow this pattern of breathing twice more and notice how relaxed and at ease you feel.
With your eyes still closed,
Feel how supported you are,
Where you are sitting or lying.
You notice that you are sitting on a wooden chair in a dense forest of tall trees.
You look down at your feet and see that they are resting on a bed of thick,
Cool,
Soft moss.
You feel the texture of the moss between your bare toes and smell the damp fragrance of the forest.
Notice how safe and protected you feel.
And how peaceful and calm the forest is around you.
As you look around,
You see the trees covered in green climbing plants and hear birds singing gently.
You decide to stand up and as you begin to walk through the forest,
You notice that there is a clearing a little farther ahead and you decide to make your way towards it.
Take some time here to experience your journey through the forest,
Savoring the fresh clean smells and the peaceful sounds made by the birds and small animals that live here.
As you near the clearing,
You see that in the center lies a glassy lake.
You notice how the surface of this lake looks like a glossy sheet of black glass and you see how perfectly flat and still it is until an insect or plant disturbs it,
Creating ripples that soon disappear.
The surface of the lake is so smooth,
In fact,
That it is like a mirror and as you approach the edge,
You peer into the water to catch a glimpse of your own reflection.
You dip your finger into the lake and feel how warm and soft the water is.
You experience a strong desire to walk into it and slowly,
Inch by inch,
You immerse yourself in the healing warm waters.
First your feet,
Then your ankles and as you walk into the lake up to your thighs,
You realize how each part of your body becomes weightless in the water and feels almost as if it is no longer attached to the rest of you.
You feel more at ease and relaxed as all the tension of holding your body together is dissolved and you slowly immerse yourself fully into the lake.
Take some time here to really experience the feeling of weightlessness that being in the lake gives you.
Stay here for as long as you need to or want to,
Soaking up the healing properties of the obsidian lake.
Make a mental note of any sensations you feel and in which parts of your body you feel them.
Note any feelings or emotions that surface during your time in the lake,
Acknowledging them,
Thanking them for being with you and then letting them go.
Once you feel you have spent enough time in the lake slowly walk back out of it.
Notice how each part of your body becomes weighted again as it leaves the water so that when you are fully out you are aware of your whole body again.
Be aware however of how much lighter you feel generally.
Almost as if the physical and emotional stresses that were weighing you down before you entered the lake have been lifted from you and dissolved in the healing waters.
Recognise this process as a cleansing of all the old negative feelings you had about yourself and of any blocks you may have had to real powerful self-healing.
Now that you have come out of the lake you are a changed person,
Someone ready and prepared to transform their life and begin the process of healing.
Take some time here to really appreciate how good it feels to have made such an important change before you walk slowly back through the forest.
As you approach the seat on the bed of moss you take one last look at the forest around you and know that you can come back to this place whenever you want or need to.
This is your safe space.
Take a seat and close your eyes again as you slowly bring your consciousness back to your breathing.
Take a deep breath in through your nose feeling it reach the pit of your stomach and fill your chest and hold it there for a count of three.
Release this breath through your nose and make sure that every last bit of air is expelled from your body before holding for another count of three.
On the second in breath slowly bring your attention back to the support beneath you and when you're ready slowly open your eyes.
