This is a powerful practice that allows us to connect with each other energetically, and also with a magical being - the communal fire - that has been burning for millennia. The tradition I am initiated in sees the communal fire as a powerful symbol of transformation and purification and connects us with a higher consciousness and a greater sense of purpose.

I imagine that this will probably take 15 to 20 minutes,

Although it will probably feel a bit longer,

And there's no need for you to do anything,

Just be present and allow what emerges to to emerge.

Approach everything that happens with a sense of curiosity and without judgment.

That is always going to be just pretty much a good attitude to hold with all spiritual work,

Not all things in the world,

We want the faculty of judgment in the world.

Okay,

So it's going to invite us to close our eyes and take a very deep breath in through the nose,

Hold for the count of three,

And then breathe out through the mouth.

And as you hold,

Before breathing in once more,

Pay attention to the soles of your feet.

And as you breathe in deeply through your nose,

And hold for a count of three,

Visualize deep roots emerging from the soles of your feet into the earth.

And you're just going to follow this cycle of breath,

Breathing in for three,

Holding for three,

Breathing out,

Breathing out,

Holding,

Breathing in.

And as you follow this deep breath cycle,

And you feel these roots emerging from the soles of your feet,

Feel them move down deep into the floor beneath you.

With each cycle of breath,

These roots dig deeper until you feel them anchoring deeply into the earth.

And you become aware of the sensation of grass between your toes,

And you feel sunlight on your face.

Maybe you can hear some birds singing,

And you can feel how bright,

How peaceful,

How calm the space is that you're in.

And you recognize you're in a beautiful garden,

Lush green grass,

Maybe there are flower beds,

What color are the flowers?

Can you smell anything?

And as you pay attention to this safe,

Calm,

Warm space,

You notice that on the side of the lawn,

There are some stone steps,

And you make your way towards them.

And as you take the first step down,

You feel even more relaxed.

And then you have the second step down,

Feeling calm,

Soothed,

Safe.

And then the third step down,

Even more relaxed.

And you find yourself at the bottom of these three stone steps on a pathway that leads through a beautiful forest dappled with light.

And you make your way down this path,

Through this forest.

You notice how beautiful the green trees are,

How the forest smells,

Slightly damp,

Earthy.

And as you make your way down this path,

You notice that you're heading towards the clearing.

And in this clearing,

You can see what looks like a fire burning,

And you make your way towards it.

As you get closer to this fire,

You notice that it is indeed a huge,

Brightly burning fire.

This fire are a collection of large stones,

Softly rounded,

As if they are seats that have been used for thousands of years.

The fire sitting inside a stone circle of sorts.

And you find one stone seat that feels like it's yours.

And you make your way towards it and sit down.

As you face the fire,

You pay attention to the colour of the flames.

This fire is a being that is very ancient,

That is constant and burns infinitely.

The fire does not need anything from you.

It is happy for your companionship and your presence,

But requires nothing.

This fire is a magical fire.

It has the capacity to transmute any energy that you contribute towards it,

Transforming one form of energy into another,

Just as all things in the universe do.

Take a moment now to gently,

With curiosity,

Ask your physical body,

Is there anything that it wants to release?

Is there anything that your physical body no longer needs to carry with it?

And if so,

Pull this energy up by scanning your body,

Collecting any form of this energy that's no longer wanted and needed,

Pulling it out of your body and depositing it in the flames of the fire.

And as you do this,

Notice how the fire responds.

Do the flames change colour?

Do you feel physically different?

Perhaps lighter?

Maybe it's easier for you to breathe.

Maybe you want to stretch a bit to assist the release.

And now,

With curiosity,

You ask your emotions,

Your emotional body,

Is there anything that your emotional body no longer wishes to carry?

And bear in mind that oftentimes emotions surface in thin layers to be released.

Maybe your emotional body isn't ready to let go of everything,

But perhaps it can shed the top layer of a feeling.

Perhaps grief,

Fear,

Anxiety,

Maybe the fear of abandonment.

Perhaps there is the top 5% of that energy that's ready,

Ready to be let go of,

Ready to be released.

There is no need to force a release.

We're simply collecting the energy that is ready to leave.

And again,

We bundle this up,

Pulling through the whole body,

Balling it up,

Whatever is ready,

Willing to be shed,

And depositing it in the fire.

And we notice,

Again,

How the fire responds to this feeding,

The gift of this emotion.

Does it transform it in some way?

Can you see or feel that transformation?

Maybe you feel differently emotionally or physically in your body because of this release.

And then,

With curiosity,

We invite the mental body,

Our overthinking,

The parts of us that fixate on loops of thought.

Are there any of these,

Any energy,

Any mental energy that we are ready to let go of,

That's loosened enough to be shed here,

Now,

And again,

Curiously moving through our being,

Balling together any energy that's ready to be let go of,

Pulling it together at the chest.

Maybe it balls together in a particular color.

Maybe it's bright white.

Maybe it's a shape or a feeling.

Maybe it's a sound.

However this energy presents itself,

Ball it up and deposit it into the flames of the fire.

And then we ask ourselves,

The entirety of our being,

Is there anything else that maybe we weren't aware of as we went through these first three passes,

That any other energy does not have to be labeled?

We do not need to know what it is.

We're simply inviting with curiosity if there's anything within us or around us that we're ready to shed.

And again,

We pull this energy together,

Like scraping dough on a board.

We ball it all up together,

Collect it up,

And once again deposit it in the flames of the fire.

And now that we've contributed whatever we wanted to,

Maybe that was nothing.

That's okay too.

We'll take a moment now to sit facing this fire,

Feeling it radiating heat and healing,

And invite the fire to refill those spaces created in our bodies with healing energy,

With hope,

With kindness,

With goodness.

And we give ourselves permission to be bathed in this powerful healing energy.

And we remember that we can come back to this fire and this space at any time.

We don't need to wait for things to become unmanageable or to feel too heavy.

We can decide to visit the communal fire and shed even a tiny thin layer of the processes of the processes we're working through,

To shed a tiny thin layer of the energy we no longer need to carry with us as frequently as we wish.

Or if we feel we need a top-up of healing,

We can return to the communal fire at any point and sit and receive without expectation,

Without the need for reciprocity.

We are all transforming energy constantly,

Infinitely,

All the time.

The communal fire is a way to consciously and intentionally do that,

And you do not need permission.

It is your nature to transform energy in this way.

The other important thing to know about the communal fire is that it is a very safe and powerful place to connect with well and healed ancestors,

As well as spirit guides of the highest truth and integrity.

And so although we're not connecting intentionally with those guides today,

You may well return to the communal fire and find that you're not alone,

And that you have well healed and caring guides waiting for you here.

This is a very good rendezvous spot.

And so with this knowledge you stand from your seated position,

Maybe nod thanks to the fire,

Who is equally as grateful for your presence as you are for it,

And make your way back towards the path that leads through the woods.

And as you slowly make your way back through the forest,

Once again noticing the beautiful rich greens and browns,

Smelling that scent of transformation,

The scent of the mycelium,

You can feel the dappled sunlight on your face as you work your way through the path towards the stone steps.

And as you take the first step up,

You remain relaxed,

But become just a little bit more aware of your surroundings.

And then the second step up,

You become even more conscious of where you are.

And the third step up,

You find yourself back in the beautiful garden with the sun shining on your face and the grass between your toes.

Maybe you hear the birds singing.

And as you take a very deep breath in,

Start to become aware of your physical body.

Maybe wiggle your toes.

Maybe you have a little stretch.

And with another breath in,

When you feel ready,

Open your eyes and come back into the room.
