Welcome friend to this Samhain visualization.

So while you get yourself set up,

Making sure that you're warm and comfortable,

That you have everything that you need,

You might want to create a little sacred space for honoring this time of year.

I'll tell you a little bit about this time in the northern hemisphere,

In the wheel of the year,

As we approach the 31st of October,

Samhain,

All Souls Night.

Samhain is the last of the harvest festivals in the year.

It's a festival of nuts and berries,

Which can still be found in nature as you walk around.

It's also the festival of apples.

Apples are quite a magical fruit,

With their tiny seeds inside a star shape at the center.

And this is of course the dark half of the year.

In the pagan traditions,

The new year actually starts now,

At this time of year.

Just as the day actually began at sunset for the Celts,

Which is a lovely idea.

It really honors darkness as a fertile ground for new beginnings.

In darkness is all potential and light is born out of it.

So Samhain is a magical time of apparent death,

Of the old year letting go,

The sap of the trees is returning to the roots,

Coloring all the leaves in these beautiful colors that we know,

The autumn colors.

So it's a time to honor the souls that have left us,

That have passed on to another world.

But it's also in darkness,

In this preparation for hibernation,

A time to consider the seeds that we might want to plant for the year to come.

So we reflect on the past,

On the people who have left us,

Or the creatures,

And we also reflect on what we might want to plant in our lives.

So first,

Just make sure that you are really comfortable.

You might be sitting or lying down,

Whatever feels right for you.

And let yourself close down your eyes and welcome yourself back to your body,

From wherever you have been today.

Taking three deep,

Slow breaths to help with this arrival.

Inhaling deeply,

Filling your lungs with this beautiful life force.

Exhaling slowly,

Softening around the eyes,

The face,

The neck.

Another deep inhale,

Filling the lungs,

Filling the belly.

A slow exhale,

Softening the muscles of the shoulders,

Letting the muscles of the back loosen their grip around the bones.

And one last time,

Deep inhale,

Holding a little at the top.

And a slow exhale,

Really savoring the sensations of letting go.

And a slow exhale,

Really savoring the sensations of letting go.

Letting go.

And now I invite you to visualize that you are standing just at the edge of a forest.

It is late afternoon,

Almost dusk.

And the forest is clothed in autumn colors.

You can see the beautiful reds and yellows of the trees,

Crimsons,

Rust,

Warm oranges.

You can hear a very soft wind making the leaves rustle.

And as you're walking on a little path winding its way to the center of the forest,

You see there's still some blackberries in the brambles.

There's acorns on the ground.

Letting yourself really enjoy the sensations of walking in an autumn forest.

There might be a slight smell of wood smoke on the air.

And as you walk on this path,

You really feel like you're being led.

You don't need to worry about getting lost.

There's a sense that you are really carried by some magical energy.

Savoring the autumn.

Savoring this time of year.

And eventually your walk leads you to a clearing in this wood.

And you see there that there's a big wooden table,

Very long table,

With the remnants of a feast.

But everyone has gone.

And there's still some apples in a bowl,

Some berries.

And a fire is still burning.

And you can smell the scent of the fire.

And as you stand in front of the fire,

Planting your eyes in the flames,

The dancing flames,

You feel called to bring to mind something that you experienced.

Something that you've experienced before.

Something that you've experienced before.

Something that you've experienced before.

Something that you tend to let go of.

Maybe it's a pattern of mind,

A habit,

Or a relationship that does not serve you anymore.

Maybe it's a situation that you feel has outlived its purpose in your life.

You might not believe consciously that you can let go of these things.

But the power of intent is multiplied in the place that you're in right now.

So as you look into the flames and into the fire,

Let those things come to you.

No striving,

Just whatever comes to you.

No striving,

Just whatever comes to mind.

And imagine that you can place these things that you want to let go of in the flames.

And watch them go up in smoke,

Leaving your life.

You watch the smoke curl and curl going up into the dusky sky.

And you feel a sense of gratitude for those things.

They had a purpose for a bit.

They no longer do.

You no longer need them.

You can say goodbye and let them go.

You can say goodbye and let them go.

As you continue to gaze into the fire,

You now feel called to sense what might want to be born in the coming year.

Breathing and sensing what that might be.

However vague,

However formless.

It might simply be a vague sense of,

I would quite like,

I feel called towards this.

Take time to watch the flames dance.

Let your imagination wander and leap.

What wants to be born in your life in this coming year?

Whatever arises is right.

And you see now that you're visualizing or sensing into these desires,

These seeds,

Have given shape to a cauldron above the flames.

And from this cauldron,

This beautiful golden apple rises.

And it doesn't burn.

There's a magical,

Protected quality to it.

This magical apple contains all the seeds of the desires that you have sensed into.

It glows in front of you as the flames start to die down.

And it stays suspended in the air,

Just at eye level,

Glowing in the darkening evening.

And you are called to take it.

Slowly reach towards it.

And you are called to take it.

Slowly reach towards it and hold this magical apple in your hands.

It still glows with its own light,

With the light of your dreams,

Your desires,

Your needs.

And as the air grows colder around you and you need to gather your clothing,

The apple emits a lovely warmth.

And you know that you can do whatever takes your fancy with this fruit.

You can bake it,

Keep it,

You can preserve it,

You can share it.

And you can even be playful and bob for the apple,

As you might in a Samhain celebration.

Whatever comes to your mind and heart is right.

Now the fire has gone out and it's getting cold and dark.

So you slowly make your way out of the clearing through a different path from the one you came through.

The bird song has vanished.

The forest is quite silent and you only hear your feet crunching on the leaves.

And you walk out of the forest feeling perfectly safe in the gathering darkness,

In which your apple gently glows like a torch.

As this visualization comes to a close,

You can imagine bringing the apple to your heart.

Letting these essence of seeds dissolve into your entire body.

Feeling that glow illuminating every cell.

You are ready to descend into the dark half of the year.

You have your intention,

You have your seeds,

And you have the blessings of Samhain.

So slowly letting all of this go,

Resting in the light of the apple,

And you have the blessings of Samhain.

So slowly letting all of this go,

Resting in silence within yourself.

Coming back to your gentle breathing,

To feeling your feet on the ground.

You can start to bring a little bit more movement into your body,

Wriggling your fingers and toes,

Rolling your shoulders.

Taking a moment before you open your eyes to imagine the space that you're in.

Placing your hand on your heart,

Taking a deep breath in,

And a slow breath out to seal in the practice.

Very slowly when you're ready,

Opening your eyes,

Taking in the space around you,

And thanking yourself for having taken this time to honour this time of Samhain.

Thanking yourself for having taken this time to honour this time of year,

And to honour yourself within it.

Thank you so much for joining me for this Samhain celebration today.

I hope you enjoyed it,

And I send you so many blessings for this coming year.

Until next time.
