Hello my friends,
I would like for us to take a moment to practice a compassion focused imagery exercise to help us to cultivate a sense of calm and peace.
Please take a seat and make yourself comfortable.
Sit up straight with your chin slightly lowered.
The key is for your body to be in natural alignment.
I now invite you to gently close your eyes or softly gaze on one spot.
Now bring your awareness to the solid ground beneath you.
Allow yourself to feel supported,
Relaxed and in the present moment.
Remember,
You can feel content in the here and now,
Not striving or feeling a need to achieve anything.
I now invite you to bring your awareness to the breath as it flows through your body.
Notice how your belly expands and contracts as you inhale and exhale.
Observe the natural rhythm of your breathing.
This is your moment to firmly anchor yourself in the present.
Remember,
It is perfectly okay for your mind to wander.
Simply notice and then gently bring your attention back to your breathing.
You may notice that your mind has wandered,
But that's okay.
Simply bring your attention back to your breathing.
When you feel ready,
Think of a place where you feel safe.
This place could be anywhere,
By the clear blue sea,
A beautiful forest or a special room in your home.
Imagine looking around you.
What can you see?
Vividly see all of the colours.
Feel the sensations throughout your body.
What can you hear?
Can you hear the sound of the waves on the sand?
Music playing or rain falling on the rooftop?
Can you smell anything?
Such as the smell of fresh cut grass or the subtle scent of the sea.
Allow your body to relax,
Taking in all of the goodness.
Think about your facial expression.
Allow yourself to smile.
Imagine that this place takes joy in you being here.
You are welcome here.
Notice how this makes you feel.
Try to create an emotional connection to this place.
Music playing or rain falling on the rooftop?
Continue to feel the sensations of safety within your body.
Notice how it feels.
Music playing or rain falling on the rooftop?
Remember,
You can always choose to come back to your safe place at any time.
Now I invite you to gently return your awareness to the present moment.
Notice your surroundings and become more alert.
When you are fully present,
Go about the rest of your day feeling refreshed and sharing your sense of calm and peace with others.
