Welcome back everybody,
How are you feeling?
Amazing.
The second track of meditation of body,
I'm first going to spend a few minutes explaining what we're going to do before we do this meditation.
This meditation is specifically used to create and release any pain in the body.
You're going to use the power of your mind and your ability to visualize and your ability to self-heal.
You're going to use your emotions and your ability as an actor and an actress,
Which I know you all have inside of you,
To shift the pain out of the body.
Doesn't it sound amazing?
It's so easy.
I'm going to tell you first a story about how I did it,
And then in a few minutes we're going to jump into the meditation.
So a few years ago,
I had a very,
Very good girlfriend,
And her and I were getting along really great.
And then for different reasons we had a huge fight.
This fight was slow and drawn out,
And it took a few weeks and it got stronger and stronger and stronger.
I wasn't enjoying the fight because I deeply love her and I deeply care about her.
And then one night,
In the height of the fight,
At about three o'clock in the morning,
I woke up with the most horrible pain in my chest.
Luckily being a physician,
And luckily knowing the human body pretty well,
I didn't rush to the emergency room,
But I sat up and my very first thought was that it was because of the fight.
And man,
Did it suck,
It hurt so bad.
Luckily again,
Because of my job,
I knew what to do.
I knew it was good old heartburn,
And I luckily happened to have some Tums or Zantac in the cupboard,
So I popped a few tablets.
Interestingly enough,
I've never had heartburn in my life ever.
And if you've never seen me,
I'm not overweight,
I don't smoke,
I don't drink,
I'm a relatively fit person.
I didn't have any higher stress in my life other than this fight with my girlfriend.
I hadn't eaten spicy foods,
And I had done nothing different.
So I knew in the gut of my guts,
Given the work I teach,
That this heartburn was because of the fight.
So I took a Tums,
Went back to bed,
No problem.
Lo and behold,
The next day,
Same thing happened.
Three o'clock in the morning,
I get woken up with chest pain.
I go,
God,
Here it is again.
So I went into my drug cupboard,
And I stood there for a few minutes,
And I thought to myself,
Do I want to take this medication or not?
In that moment,
I chose not to,
And I said to myself,
You know what?
I'm going to do an experiment,
And I'm going to see if I can get rid of this pain by meditating through it.
So I tried,
And this is what you're going to do in a minute here.
So let me first explain what I did,
And then you're going to choose a specific area of your body you want to release the pain.
So I closed my eyes,
And I started to meditate,
And I want you to know,
First off,
It did take me two hours,
But it doesn't have to take you two hours,
But what I did was I visualized my girlfriend,
And I visualized the fight we were having,
And I felt the anger I had towards her,
And I felt the sadness and the betrayal I was feeling,
And as I felt those emotions more and more and more,
As I visualized it longer,
The pain in my stomach got worse to the point I was doubled over,
And I started to cry.
Then I decided to change the picture I was visualizing,
And I visualized her and I having fun and laughing and singing songs and going to movies,
And I felt the love again that I feel for her,
And then almost instantly that I started to feel the love,
The pain subsided.
It went away,
Just like that,
Faster and easier than the Tums.
So I was pretty impressed that this happened,
But then with my mind,
And probably like your mind,
My mind went right away back to being mad at her,
And then the pain came back.
The reason it took me two hours is because I wanted to play a game,
And I would feel the pain intensify when I felt anger,
And then I would feel joy and happiness for her,
And the pain subsided.
So I wanted to play and see how long it could or would take me to dance back and forth.
Finally,
I got just too tired,
So I would feel the love longer and longer and longer,
And the longer I did it,
The pain went away.
Interestingly enough,
I have been teaching this meditation for years,
After I discovered this in my own body.
I taught it last night to a group of seven 75-year-old women that I teach meditation to.
None of them have ever heard of using meditation to release pain.
It was all brand new to them.
Each one of them opened their eyes at the end of the meditation,
And they were shocked at how well it worked.
They opened their eyes and said,
Oh my God,
My pain is gone.
I can't believe I can do that.
So that's the preamble,
And let's get started.
So I'd like you to think of a body part that's hurting,
And maybe in your mind you have an idea of what could be causing it,
And maybe you don't.
When we go into the meditation,
When you feel the body part,
Maybe a thought will come in as to what's causing the pain.
If you really,
Really don't have a clue what's going on in your life that is causing the pain,
I encourage you to play around and start to make up a scene in your mind of something happening in your life,
And when we intensify the emotions like we're going to do in a minute,
You can see if the pain gets worse,
And then a few minutes later,
If it doesn't work,
By switching it the other way,
You're going to try a different visualization.
Let's play and have fun.
Go ahead and close your eyes.
Take a deep breath in and a deep breath out.
Inhale and exhale.
Belly rises and belly falls.
On your next breath,
Invite the light to enter into your head,
Coming through your body,
Connecting you,
And relaxing you.
As you breathe in,
Breathe out.
Inhale and exhale.
Feel your forehead relax,
Your cheeks,
Your chin,
Your jaw softens,
Softens,
And relaxes.
Inhale and exhale.
Breathe in,
Breathe out.
Feel your neck,
Your shoulders,
Your chest,
And your heart relax,
Soften completely.
Breathe in,
Breathe out.
Belly rises and belly falls.
Now feel your hips,
Your pelvis,
All the way into your thighs,
Your knees,
And all the way into your shins,
Down your feet,
Connect,
Relax,
And soften you.
Breathe in,
Breathe out.
Inhale and exhale.
And now I invite you to feel the body part that is feeling the pain.
Maybe it's your neck,
Your shoulders,
Your stomach,
Your back,
Your forehead,
Your knees.
It does not matter.
As you breathe,
Use the power of your visualization to visualize the scene that in your mind may be causing the energy that you feel in your body.
With your breath,
You start to see a picture of yourself,
And maybe you see your brother,
Your sister,
Your friend,
Or your partner,
Children,
A co-worker,
A boss,
Whoever you're having a disagreement with or maybe feeling some energy from.
What I encourage you to do in your mind's eye in this visualization is to start to feel whatever the emotion is,
Frustration,
Anger,
Irritation,
Fear,
Whatever it is.
Now turn the volume up to that emotion,
Make it stronger.
Allow yourself to feel even more how you're feeling towards this person right now.
Good and breathe,
Good,
Breathe.
Start to notice that the pain is getting worse.
Turn up the volume even more.
Feel that energy that you feel towards that person,
Make it louder,
Good.
Really good and breathe.
Really good,
Breathe in and out,
Inhale and exhale,
Good.
Now that you've got that visual down,
I invite you to look at the same picture of you and the same person or the same incident with whatever's going on in your life,
And I encourage you to react differently now.
See it like a TV screen and imagine a better feeling emotion right now,
Maybe a feeling of love or gratitude or of joy or of happiness.
You might have to make it up a little bit,
There you go,
Yeah,
Start to make it up and breathe,
Really good.
Now turn this volume up louder,
There you go,
Good.
Make it louder and breathe,
Make it even louder and now start to see if the energy in your body,
That discomfort has softened and breathe,
Really good,
Inhale and exhale.
Let's go one more time,
Maybe that meditation just now,
Maybe it worked,
Maybe you sorted out what the energy is that's going on in your life,
It's causing the discomfort and maybe you didn't.
So if you didn't,
Choose a different visual in your mind,
A different person,
A different thing that you feel maybe related.
If it's the same one,
Just use the same meditation,
Let's go back into our visual,
Remember we are creative mind's eye people,
Create a TV above your head with your eyes closed and again visualize the scene you want to create,
There you go.
See yourself and the other person or the other thing that's going on in your life and feel the emotion,
Anger,
Sadness,
Resentment,
Frustration,
Bitterness,
Guilt,
Whatever and make it louder,
Make yourself really angry,
Make yourself really sad,
Make yourself really frustrated,
Good.
Breathe and see it,
There you go and start to feel it in your body more,
Good,
Intensify it,
Breathe,
Make it louder,
Breathe,
Good and now switch the channel,
See the same scene of same people in the picture but make the energy softer,
Change it to a better feeling emotion,
Gratitude,
Hope,
Peace or love and whatever you need to do in this picture above your head to feel it,
Maybe you're holding hands,
Maybe you're laughing,
Maybe you're going to see a movie and maybe you're telling jokes.
Now turn the volume up louder and louder and louder and breathe in and out,
Now that it's really loud start to see how your body part feels,
Have it softened and have it released,
Really good work guys,
Really good.
Deepen your breath,
In and out,
Inhale and exhale,
Good work,
Really good,
Really powerful stuff.
Now as your breath deepens,
Take a moment to thank yourself,
You can stay longer in this meditation if you wish or if you choose to come out,
Just come out gently,
Opening your eyes slowly,
Coming back into the brighter room and of course thanking yourself for taking this time,
Starting to waken up your own healer inside,
Starting to wake up your own ability to shift energy,
Starting to wake up your own ability to feel better,
Really good work guys.
Now as you move through your day you start to feel the creative powerful energy that you are,
Amazing,
So have fun with this energy,
Take it through your day in whatever way it will,
Promise yourself to come back whenever and however often you need to,
Have a great day guys,
Ciao for now.
