Acceptance and Forgiveness
This brief meditation will help you to confront fear, shame, and painful experiences that you have been unable to allow in to your story.
Transcript
We all have hidden wounds that impact our willingness to love and be loved,
To achieve successes and to feel a sense of belonging and worth.
As long as these wounds stay hidden and unattended,
They get in the way of our wellness and happiness.
In this meditation,
We will actively seek out these wounds,
Early childhood experiences,
Painful losses,
Choices for which we still carry shame,
And we will let our compassionate attention be the medicine for healing.
Some of our wounds were the result of the actions of others.
Some wounds resulted from our own actions and choices.
By connecting with acceptance and forgiveness,
We can move past the anger and resentment that block us from being at ease,
From feeling at home and at peace in our own skin.
Place your attention on your breath.
Release any tension being held in your body and take a few moments to become present.
Breathing in,
Breathing out.
Imagine yourself as a small child,
Maybe five or six years old.
This child version of you has all of your memories,
All of your experiences,
All of the same wounds that you have as an adult now.
Imagine your adult self sitting down with this child.
Connect with this child's smallness,
Vulnerability,
Innocence.
Your child self becomes tearful,
Shoulders slumping,
And you ask the child,
What's wrong?
Hear your child self telling you the story of your pain,
The trauma you have experienced,
The relationship you sabotaged,
The promises you broke or that were broken by someone else.
Listen deeply and let your heart break for this innocent child.
Imagine that in her mistakes,
She was doing the best she could.
In the pain that was out of his control,
See his need for comfort and kindness.
Imagine you reach out to this child and wipe away her tears.
You smile lovingly at her and tell her that she is safe now.
She doesn't have to be fearful or angry.
Hold his hand or stroke his hair.
Imagine holding her in your arms and feeling your heart fill with compassion.
Not blame,
Without fixing anything,
Just your willing presence comforting this child.
Realize that this child is you.
This child has been waiting to be heard,
To be nurtured,
To be accepted and forgiven.
Realize that like this child,
You are doing the best you can in any given moment.
You are deserving of grace.
You are deserving of understanding.
And you are your greatest source for both.
The world will not teach you about your worth,
Honestly.
Just as you are certain that this child deserves love,
Be certain of your basic goodness,
Of your fallible yet perfect heart.
She should think as you come터-to-to.
Then you acc Bel,
Borderstone On The Mountain,
Followedguns 95,
If you need to spend more time in this space,
Hit pause.
Otherwise bring your awareness back to your body,
Back to the room,
And open your eyes when you are ready.
As you go through your daily life,
See if you can stay connected to your feelings of kindness for this child,
To your generous assumption of his or her basic goodness.
When we truly embrace this assumption about our basic goodness,
We abandon the damaging practice of constantly competing for our worth.
We realize that growth does not require that we berate ourselves or reject ourselves as we are.
I want to thank you for taking the time to complete this program.
The work you do for yourself is ultimately the work you do for everyone.
Be at peace and keep practicing.

This meditation/visualisation helped me let go of a lot of pent up emotion which often manifests as physical pain in my body. I was scared to do it at first after reading the reviews but I needn’t have been. It is very healing ❤️🩹 Thank you

I have stayed with my wounded little one thru this practice, and finally shed my own tears for her vulnerability, and held her in my arms and comforted her with all my heart. This is a big break thru for me today. I will keep up with this healing and compassionate work. Thank you so much for your guidance!🙏🥰

I found this to be a powerful meditation. It was difficult for me to remember my 5-year-old self in some ways and even more difficult to imagine how I could put all of my pain and anger and heartbreak onto my 5-year-old self. I t seemed like that child would be crushed by the things that weigh heavy on my heart. Yet, as I reflect on my life, at age 5, she already had some very heavy burdens her little heart was carrying! This meditation has helped me to see how my forgiveness really needs to start right in my heart and be forgiveness of myself. Thank you for this guided meditation. I like that it doesn’t have background music. It helped me to stay more present with myself. I also liked the invitation to pause the meditation to stay present with ourself for as long as we needed.

Beautiful inner child work. It would've been much more moving with some soft background music, but very nice.

I've noticed I in meditating sometimes I have a tense feeling at the back of the top of neck where it meets the skull and it is difficult to release. For whatever reason, this meditation really helped breathe in and release that area. Awesome, thanks!
