Through a gentle guided meditation, we will first relax our bodies, slowly and calmly. Then, we'll move into focusing our attention and awareness on our own bodies, and feeling the flow that happens within our bodies. Finally, we'll imagine, visualize and expand that sense of inner flow out into our day, holding the thoughts and intentions for having a day of ease and flow in all of our activities and connections. We'll end with the ringing of the chime.

Good morning.

This is a morning meditation for bringing into your day a sense of ease and flow.

One of the things that we know about how our minds work,

How our bodies work,

Is that if we can begin to practice more ease and more flow,

Then our whole system,

Our minds,

Our bodies,

Will line up for that practice and create more ease and flow throughout our day.

So what is ease and what is flow?

Ease is the sense that life isn't so much of a struggle,

That we can be moving through our day without drama,

Without creating more suffering for ourselves and those around us.

And that the challenges that come up can be seen as openings or opportunities rather than boundaries and blockades.

Flow is a state,

A state of mind,

A state of consciousness that we can experience and often do experience in times of heightened awareness.

The flow state is often experienced and reported by people who engage in sports or entertainment,

Who have become very,

Very good at their craft.

And they often report that they can see what's around them in a different way,

In a holistic viewpoint,

That they can feel within their bodies that,

For instance,

The game,

The sport is reported to actually take over and the game plays them or for a musician the song plays them.

And that flow state can be accessed and again practiced.

What we want to begin to do is to set up our day so that more ease and more flow can happen.

And that's what this meditation is designed to do.

The meditation will be approximately 15 minutes long and we'll focus on a physical relaxation at the beginning to slowly bring you into a state of relaxation.

And then we'll move into actually feeling the sense of ease and flow within your body and within your mind.

I will also sound a small bell at the end to signal that the meditation is complete.

So to begin,

Find yourself into a comfortable position,

Whether that's sitting or lying down.

Just make sure that it's comfortable,

That it's easy for you to be in that position.

I prefer sitting myself,

Although oftentimes I'll lie down in the morning and have a short meditation to allow my day to get set up,

To feel calm and engaged into the flow of the day.

So find yourself in a comfortable position and just wiggle around however you're poised,

Whether you're sitting or lying down.

Wiggle around and make sure that your sense is relaxed,

That your body,

Your sense of your body is relaxed.

And then we'll begin.

So take a deep breath first into your belly,

Raising your navel up just a little bit as you fill your belly with air like a balloon.

And then let it roll on the inhale up into your lungs.

Don't push it,

But just let it roll nice and gentle.

And then let it roll back out again on the exhale.

And now for the second breath,

Take it in again into your navel,

But let's go slowly.

So let's see if we can extend it to a count of five.

So inhale,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five,

And exhale to the count of five.

One,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five.

Okay,

One more of those.

Inhale,

One,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five,

And exhale,

One,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five.

And now just take a cleansing breath and let the breath go.

And as you release that breath,

Begin to feel a warm wave of relaxation,

Starting at the top of your head,

At the very crown of your scalp.

And slowly,

Slowly moving down across the top of your head,

Relaxing your scalp and just letting it go.

Releasing any tensions as you feel this warm wave of relaxation,

Slowly moving down across your forehead,

Relaxing your forehead and your face.

As it moves down across the side of your head and the back of your head,

Relaxing your scalp and down to your eyebrows,

Just slowly letting this warm wave of relaxation move down across your eyes and feel the relaxation relaxing all the tiny muscles around your eyes.

Just let them go.

Let any stress or tension that may be there in your eyes be released.

As you feel this wave of relaxation moving down across your ears,

Relax your ears,

The inside of your ears,

The muscles that hold your ears.

And as it moves down across your nose,

So your sinuses and your nose can feel this warm wave of relaxation,

As it slowly moves down across your body,

Relaxing all the tiny muscles,

The muscles in your jaw,

Relax your jaw muscles.

It's a place where we hold tension often.

Relax your jaw muscles.

You might kind of wiggle your mouth open and stretch it and then let it come back to its natural place.

And the warm wave of relaxation moves down across your tongue and your lips,

Down across your chin and down to your neck,

Your temples,

The back of your neck,

Relaxing your throat,

So that your entire head and your neck are completely and totally relaxed.

Just relax and let it all go.

There's nothing to do right now except to relax.

So just relax.

And the warm wave of relaxation continues to move down across your chest and your shoulders,

Down your arms to your elbows and out your forearms to your wrists and your hands and the very tips of your fingers.

Relaxing all of these places as this wave of relaxation continues to move down across your abdomen,

Relaxing all the organs,

Your lungs,

Your stomach,

All the inner organs come to relaxation.

And as you feel the energy of this relaxation in your hands,

You might feel a tingling in your hands.

So just feel that tingling and relax.

It's okay.

It's your body simply relaxing.

And feel this warm wave of relaxation move down across your waist and your pelvic region,

Relaxing all the organs there and letting go of any tension or stress.

As this wave of relaxation,

This warm wave moves down across your thighs,

Relaxing your thigh muscles and even all the way into your bones,

Into your thigh bones.

It's relaxing these bones,

The longest bones in your body.

And the wave of relaxation moves down to your knees.

Relax your knees,

Let go of any tension or emotions that may be there in your knees and allow this wave to move down to your calf muscles,

Your shins,

Your ankles,

Your feet,

Out to your toes,

Relaxing your toes and relaxing the very soles of your feet.

So now your entire body is completely and totally relaxed.

So just relax.

And allow this warm relaxation to permeate throughout your entire body.

Again,

There's nothing to do in this moment except to relax.

So just relax.

In this relaxed state,

Begin to feel within your body the actual sense of your entire body.

See if you can feel your entire body and how your body is easily doing what it needs to do right now in this moment for you to live.

The ease of your body can be experienced right here,

Right now.

There may be pains.

There may be sickness.

But your body is functioning,

Dealing with those issues.

And here you are with a sense of ease and relaxation in this moment.

So we bring our attention,

Like a searchlight,

Like a spotlight.

Our attention and our awareness to the sense of ease that we feel within our bodies right here,

Right now.

And as we do that,

We can also feel the flow,

The flow of our lives.

Starting with the awareness that within our own bodies,

The blood flows.

Every moment,

Every hour,

All day long,

There is a constant state of flow of blood and vital fluids throughout our bodies.

This is true.

Every day,

Your body is steeped in the actuality of the flow state.

So for a moment,

Just relax and see if you can become aware of your heart beating,

Of your body pulsing,

Of the energetic of who you are as a person.

This physical body and all that's flowing and being at ease within it.

It's even possible to take our awareness off of any issues,

Physical issues that we may be having and to place it instead into this sense of ease and flow.

So for a moment,

Become aware of the ease and flow that is happening within you right now.

As you focus your awareness on the ease and flow,

Now use your imagination to imagine that sense of ease and flow extending out into your life today.

You're starting off this morning in a very calm and relaxed way.

So just imagine your day unfolding with that same calm,

Relaxed state.

And as your day unfolds,

Imagine that sense of ease and flow happening through all of your activities today.

Every engagement with other people,

Any tasks that you have to do either at home or at your workplace,

Any connections that need to be made,

Any processes that you're engaged in.

Simply imagine this sense of ease and flow extending out throughout your entire day,

Emanating from you,

Starting with this ease and flow that you're experiencing here and now.

Imagine good connections.

Visualize or feel out synchronicity happening.

Doors can be opened that you may never have imagined being there in the first place.

And opportunities will arise the more you practice this sense of ease and flow.

So for just a few more moments,

Focus your attention on expanding the ease and flow from your own body and your own consciousness out throughout your day.

Imagine it.

See it.

Feel it.

And if you have any trouble imagining or visualizing or feeling,

Just pretend that you can imagine it.

And your mind will take over.

And this sense of ease and flow will grow.

So for one more moment,

Hold this sense of yourself expanding the ease and flow that naturally happens throughout your body every second,

Every minute,

Every moment of your day.

Imagine that ease and flow expanding out into your entire day,

All the way through your day,

As you climb back into bed this evening.

Hold that sense of ease and flow all day long.

And let it become your practice,

Your daily practice.

We're going to come out of this meditation now.

So slowly bring yourself back to your own awareness and remember what you did here today.

Keep it with you all day long.

And as you come out of this meditation,

Bring yourself back,

Back into the room that you're in,

Back into your body,

Back into this time.

And when you're ready,

Open your eyes and go about your day.

This is such a wonderful meditation. I loved the guidance toward ease and flow using my own body as a metaphor. The entire time my puppy wanted my attention and instead of getting frustrated, I encouraged her to join with me in the gentle ebb and flow. She eventually laid on my lap, content to be at ease with me. Pretty cool!
