Hello and welcome to this meditation.
My name is Beth and I'll be guiding you.
In this meditation,
We're taking a pause to remember that nothing is as serious as it may seem.
There is a higher power in charge.
So please make yourself comfortable,
Whether that's seated or laying back,
And make sure your spine is straight.
And as you settle in,
Allow your attention to be drawn to the breath.
Just allow your attention to move from sensation to sensation.
So many things in life might not go our way in any given day.
And it's easy to fall prey to that sensation of frustration and annoyance with what is.
And if we simply allow ourselves to stop resisting,
Relax,
Let go,
We might even find or discover that everything is okay,
Just as it is.
In this moment of being still and letting down,
We can recognize that all of the things we think are so important have a way of dissolving in stillness.
Can we give ourselves the grace of a moment of silence and letting go of the grip we try so hard to maintain on all aspects of our lives?
Can we instead allow the body to soften and the mind to unclench and breathe and trust?
There are so many things in this world that we simply cannot and will never be able to control.
The only thing we truly have the possibility of controlling is our attitude and our thoughts around what is happening or not happening.
We have power over our reactions and responses to the things that go off or go wrong.
Can we choose a more compassionate stance towards ourselves?
Can we stop fighting what is?
And what if we adopted the stance that everything that happens,
Happens for our greater good?
It might not feel like it at the time.
But what if we actually believed 100% that everything that happened was indeed for our greater good?
Would it not be easier to accept,
Even without understanding,
Why certain things happen the way they do?
So maybe just for this moment,
And maybe even after,
We can truly let go of that need to control and learn to laugh at the things that don't go the way we expected them to,
Or needed them to,
Or wanted them to.
Let's take some cleansing breaths together in through the nose and out through the mouth.
Repeat that for yourself a couple more times,
Letting go of any frustration,
Resistance,
Annoyance.
Really settle,
Settle the score and settle the body.
And now,
Having given yourself this few minutes to let go,
You're ready to return to your day,
Perhaps with a new attitude,
A new approach to allowing whatever happens and knowing,
Trusting it's all okay.
