Hello and welcome to this third practice in a series I like to call Music as Medicine.
My name is Beth and I'll be your guide.
If you enjoy this meditation,
Please be sure to review it and follow my profile.
Today's practice revolves around the principle of surrender,
And it uses the affirmation that things are always working out for us.
Most of us have an underlying need to control.
Wisdom shows us that we simply cannot control everything.
Sometimes we simply have to let go and trust.
For this practice,
We'll be assuming a posture known as Child's Pose.
If you're familiar with it,
You don't need to get into it just yet.
Child's Pose is where we are sitting back on the heels,
With the trunk rounded over the legs,
The forehead touching the ground,
And the arms outstretched in front of us.
This position may not be comfortable for all bodies,
So know that it is most important for you to be comfortable.
Being in the posture may help us fully embody a state of surrender,
But our mindset is far more important.
Child's Pose is known as a posture of supplication,
A surrendering,
An emptying out of everything that we've been holding onto,
Trying so hard to control.
While our headspace is a wonderful space for contemplation,
For analyzing,
For comparing and contrasting,
For planning and strategizing,
It has its limits.
When we bring the head down below the heart,
We are signaling to ourselves that we are ready to be present with more of the heart space where our compassion,
Our trust and faith,
Our willingness to let go and surrender resides.
The song is approximately four minutes,
And you may find that being in Child's Pose for that amount of time is too much.
Please know that at any point during the song,
You're welcome to come out of the posture if it becomes uncomfortable.
I'll be starting the music shortly.
As always,
You're invited to sing along once you know the song,
And we'll have a couple minutes of silence at the end of the song.
So if you've decided to come into Child's Pose,
Please come to sit on your heels now,
And just take a moment to adjust for comfort.
You may find having a blanket under your knees,
Or perhaps a pillow under your hips to be more comfortable.
And when you're ready,
Please bring your forehead to the ground.
If you have a yoga block and you need that for a little extra support under the forehead,
Feel free to use that.
And then stretch your arms out in front of you with your palms facing up.
Things are always,
Always working out for me.
No matter what it seems.
What's meant to be will always be.
What's not will never come.
And what's done is done.
What's done is done.
Things are always,
Always working out for me.
Things are always moving towards our greater good.
Things are always,
Always working out for us.
Things are always turning out just as they should.
Easy to forget.
Forget there is a greater plan.
Remember to detach.
Expectations lead to suffering.
What will be will be.
In letting go we are set free.
We are set free.
Things are always working out for me.
Turning out just as they should.
Things are always working out for us.
Moving towards our greater good.
Please draw your hands back towards the head.
Press your palms into the floor to lift the body to an upright position for our period of silence.
Thank you so much for joining me today.
It is a wonderful blessing and relief to know that things are always working out for us.
That ends this meditation.
