It really does help.

Beyond Blame Have you ever heard that the finger you point is a mirror?

In this session,

We're stepping into one of the most powerful and humbling aspects of healing,

Learning to recognize projection,

Reclaim shadow,

And choose radical self-responsibility.

This isn't always comfortable,

But it is deeply freeing.

There's a Sufi proverb that says,

If you see an evil man,

Search yourself for his faults,

And you will find them.

And if you see a good man,

Search yourself for his virtues,

And you will find them.

So this quote is pointing out the fact that within us,

We carry it all.

And we have this tendency to project outward both the qualities that we don't like upon others,

And the qualities that we wish we had.

Why do we blame?

When we see corruption,

Greed,

Or harm in the world,

It's natural to want to blame somebody.

Leaders,

Politicians,

And systems often seem like the obvious source of our collective pain,

Because we project all of our power onto them,

And with good reason.

They're meant to represent us.

Whether or not they do is,

Of course,

Another question.

But while wrongdoing absolutely exists,

Blame rarely heals or changes anything.

Blame gives away our power.

It keeps the focus on others instead of inviting us to look within and find our own agency.

Every human carries both light and shadow.

We all hold,

In some measure,

The very qualities we judge or admire in others.

Some of the qualities we might judge include the desire to control outcomes,

The urge to manipulate,

The hunger for power,

Or a tendency to avoid or deny hard truths.

Some of the qualities we might admire could include the ability to easily forgive,

Or the ability to hold equanimity in dealing with all kinds of people in all forms.

Or perhaps it's that gleam of light in the eyes of a successful colleague or a spiritual teacher.

That we do this,

That we project,

Isn't cause for shame.

It's simply part of the human condition.

When public figures embody the negative qualities we deny,

They are reflecting what still lives unexamined in the collective field.

Public figures,

Whoever they be,

Or any world leader,

Often act as symbolic mirrors for the collective.

Whether they're aware of it or not,

They're holding pieces of the human shadow we haven't fully owned yet.

It's a rotten job.

You may say,

But I'm not like him or her,

Or I have morals,

I have ethics.

This is a completely rational comparison,

But only on a certain level of consciousness that has yet to understand that everything and everyone is a mere projection of your dream.

While it may be uncomfortable to acknowledge this at first,

It ultimately provides a way out of our toxic suffering.

The real work of healing isn't about fixing them.

It's about meeting what they reflect in us.

Real healing doesn't happen when they change.

Real healing happens when we're willing to meet our own shadow with honesty and compassion.

It is a radical self-responsibility that means saying yes,

I've seen these qualities in myself,

And I choose not to feed them.

I choose truth,

Humility,

Love,

And integrity instead.

This is not spiritual bypassing,

It's radical maturity.

And choosing these means rooting out all the places where we allow jealousy,

Anger,

Hatred,

And arrogance to fester.

It's the path that transforms both personal and the collective field.

And when we are able to do our shadow work,

The world around us changes.

Let's do a practice with what is known as the golden child,

The positive aspects of our shadow.

Make yourself comfortable.

If your feet can be flat on the ground,

And your back can be straight,

That will support your practice.

And just begin to tune into your breath.

By focusing on the breath,

We are reclaiming attention from both past and all of our memories of it,

And our imaginings in the future,

And coming back to this only real moment,

This now.

Allow your body to respond to the breath,

And the breath to respond to the body as you enter a deeper relaxation.

Now,

Imagine someone you admire.

This could be a teacher,

A guru,

Past or living,

Or someone in your life who you really look up to and maybe put on a pedestal.

Imagine this person standing at some distance in front of you.

Feel them and see them radiating with those qualities you so admire,

Whether that be open-heartedness or the ability to seemingly manifest everything they desire.

Whatever it is,

Feel and sense that energy shining in their eyes.

Feel how easy it is for them to love,

To accept,

To appreciate their wisdom.

The more real you can imagine their presence,

The more powerful.

Now,

Imagine them shining and radiating this energy directly towards you,

Like a beam or beams of light.

And they do this with such love and compassion.

As they begin to slowly step forward towards you,

Their hands open.

Breathe and relax as they come closer and closer.

If there's resistance in you to their approach,

Just notice.

Allow it to be.

And then use your breath and exhale that resistance.

They come closer and closer still,

Until they are directly inches in front of you.

But they don't stop.

They continue to move right through and into your being.

And there they dissolve.

And all of the qualities that they held begin to shimmer and shine and redistribute throughout you and your whole body.

What you thought belonged to them actually was yours all along.

Feel the vibration of those qualities emanating from you.

Rest with this light emanating from within you and allow it to begin to expand outward all around you.

When we know we have compassion within ourselves and a self-acceptance,

It's easier to deal with all of the darker qualities of the shadow.

So generating these qualities,

These higher qualities,

Is extremely helpful.

Dealing with a darker shadow can be quite challenging.

We have to be at a point in our life where we're ready to face these things.

And it's always best to work with a guide and get some support and help while you're doing that.

If you would like to go a little deeper with your shadow work,

You could work with a couple of prompts.

The first being,

What part of me might a situation be reflecting when I am in judgment or outrage?

Or the second,

Where am I still projecting blame that may actually be a call to heal within?

So whenever you're ready,

You can begin to wiggle fingers and toes,

Slowly,

Mindfully returning to your fully awakened state.

And I'll just close with this final thought.

As long as we continue needing villains,

We delay our own healing.

The world changes most when enough of us choose to wake up from within,

Not through denial,

But through radical self-responsibility.

In the end,

Healing isn't about eradicating the dark shadow.

It's about seeing it clearly,

Owning our capacity for both harm and love,

And making conscious choices towards the light.

Thank you.
