Let's take a few minutes to simply and naturally breathe.
It is very healing for all of us,
Even if only for a few minutes,
To let everything in our lives slow way down and breathe.
Maybe you want to put one or both of your hands on your body.
You could place one of them on your heart,
One of them on your stomach.
See what feels comfortable.
You can watch and feel your hands moving up and down with your body as you breathe.
I invite all of us to carefully and temporarily put to the side anything we're thinking about,
Anything we feel we need to do right now,
Any activity in our minds and in our hearts.
We will absolutely come back to all of it very soon after we breathe together.
Amazingly,
This is something we are already doing.
We are breathing.
It is natural.
It is human.
It is a mystery that we are breathing.
We don't need to tell our bodies what to do.
We can notice what's happening.
We can notice the body's wisdom.
We can notice its intelligence functioning on our behalf.
We can notice this movement inside,
Breathing us.
Having this gentle awareness of our breathing is one way we can take excellent care of ourselves right now.
Today,
I would like for us to try to breathe together in a particular way.
If that doesn't appeal to you,
No problem.
You can keep breathing exactly as you are.
You can listen to the sound of my voice and feel the companionship of breathing together.
But if you would like to focus,
I want you to begin to breathe through your nose,
Only through your nose.
In through the nose,
Out through the nose.
Your mouth has no job.
It can rest.
Your jaw can rest.
All of the muscles in your mouth can relax a bit more.
This breathing technique is designed to increase our experience of feeling grounded,
Of feeling a little more held,
Of feeling a little more connected to the earth.
Let's see what happens for you.
In through the nose,
Out through the nose.
Slowly,
Easily.
No need to rush.
Nothing else to do in this moment.
Nowhere to go.
Just attention on the breath.
There might be more air coming into your body right now.
There might be a feeling of expansion happening inside.
You might be feeling slower,
Smoother,
More in your body,
More embodied.
You might feel a connection with an area of your body receiving this breath.
You might feel more energy in your heart.
Breathing in through the nose,
Out through the nose.
You can imagine this earth energy moving up through your feet and spreading throughout your entire body.
Maybe it has a color.
Green,
Like a tall tree with deep roots.
Brown,
Like an immovable mountain.
In through the nose,
Out through the nose.
We can feel this oxygen going exactly where it needs to go,
Bringing a sense of calm.
This energy is ordinary,
Basic,
Even.
Imagine standing on the earth in nature,
Feeling the rhythm of nature,
Of the seasons,
Our favorite season.
In through the nose,
Out through the nose.
You can keep doing this breathing on your own if you like.
You can do it anytime,
Especially when you need a little more support,
A little more grounding.
Let's shift back into our lives now to interact and to function.
Let's do that together.
