Silent Celebration: Good Vibes Only!
Did you ever celebrate the fact that you’re alive? Not after a close call from death but just for that very casual fact that you are alive. Let me give you a quick take on it from a meditators’ point-of-view: ‘I am alive’, this statement is not just a causal fact for a meditator, rather a deeper realization which puts them into a constant state of awe and wonders about the mysteries of this existence. It makes them want to share it with others, to celebrate it.

Hi,
This is Dhyan Se and you're listening to Dhyan Se Meditation Podcast.
This meditation session was given on 23rd of February 2019 in Basel,
Switzerland.
Have you ever celebrated silence?
Join me in this silent celebration in this meditation session.
A very warm welcome to all of you in this meditation party today.
Since it's Saturday evening,
Saturday night,
It's a celebration.
We usually meet every Monday where you probably have a day of work behind you.
You're stressed,
You're in your thoughts,
You're having so many things on your mind that you perhaps come here to find some peace,
Some time with yourself.
But today is different.
Today is Saturday.
I hope you enjoy the good weather outside.
You're much more relaxed.
You're much more at your center.
So what do we do in meditation?
We celebrate today for a very special reason.
Before I tell you the reason why are we going to celebrate today,
Let me ask you a couple of questions.
When was the last time or how many of you had at least once celebrated your birthday?
Raise your hands.
Is there anyone here who never celebrated his birthday?
Is there anyone who celebrated at least once for some success that you achieved in your life?
Be it professional success,
Be it any kind of personal success?
Anyone?
Any other reason why you celebrated in your life?
Maybe some good things that happened in your family?
Any other reason we usually have celebrations for?
But did you ever celebrate for the fact that you're alive?
Anyone?
Any kind of celebration?
How did you celebrate?
I enjoyed it.
I tried to enjoy it.
By putting more meat in,
Drinking something,
Talking,
Chatting,
Being together with people.
Very nice.
Might be a good idea,
Just for the sake of an idea,
To have a celebration with your friends,
With your loved ones,
Or just by yourself for the fact that you're alive.
Today we are going to discover how in meditation we can celebrate this,
Not just with ourselves,
But with everyone,
With the entire existence,
Just this fact that we are alive.
Because the meditation is that moment where you are the closest to your being,
Closest to yourself,
Closest to this fact that you're alive.
So why not take that moment to share this with others,
To celebrate this with others?
When you are in a normal celebration,
You put on your best clothes,
You put on your best appearance to share the best of you with others.
In the kind of celebration that we do in meditation,
What is the best thing that you can share with others?
It's your own being.
It's that best foot forward,
That best thing that you can share with others is your own being.
In a normal celebration,
You have words to share,
You have thoughts to share,
You're sharing experiences.
In this silent meditative celebration,
There are no words,
There are no information,
There is no experience,
There is absolute silence to share.
In normal celebration,
You're celebrating this with your friends,
With your loved ones,
With somebody,
Generally speaking,
That you know,
With a sense of friendship.
But in this meditative celebration,
You celebrate with everyone.
You celebrate in friendliness with everyone.
I'm reminded of when Buddha left this planet,
As per the theories,
He was predicted to come back in the form of Maitreya.
Maitreya,
The word comes out of a Sanskrit word called matri,
Friendship.
This is something which is so much needed in this world today to just have that friendliness with everyone and not just with one specific person or a set of people.
So keep this friendliness,
This intention of friendliness throughout the meditation session which you would share not just with one person in specific,
Not a few people in specific but with everyone.
What else do you do in your ordinary celebration?
You have good food,
You have good wine,
You have good music in this celebration.
None of those things are external impulses for you to have that good vibe.
That good vibe of things will come out of your own being.
You already have this in you.
You don't need any external impulse for those good vibes.
Those good vibes come out of your own being when you're silent,
When you're centered,
When you are in meditation.
What could be those good vibes?
For today's session,
I would like to bring in five of those flavors which we will share with all of us.
The first flavor is of love,
Love-kindness.
Not the love that you would share with one specific person but the kind of love,
The kind of emotion that you would have and you could express for everyone in this world.
We will try to bring that vibe from our own being out into this session and share it with everyone in this world.
The second kind of vibration which you can bring out of your own being is of joy,
Is of happiness.
We all have that in us.
We don't need anything external for that to happen.
Once we have that in us,
We can share this with everyone in the world without having one particular person in mind,
Without having only our loved ones in mind,
But our joy,
Our happiness with all of the world.
It's very simple if you just allow it to happen,
If you just give it a chance.
What else could you share with others in this celebration?
You could share compassion.
There is so much misery as well in this world,
So many unprivileged people in this world which would require some compassion from you who are,
I'm assuming,
In a privileged state of life in the best possible ways you could enjoy life.
So take this moment,
Take this session to tune into this sense of compassion and unconditionally share this with everyone in this world,
Specifically for those who need it,
Those who are underprivileged,
Those who don't have the same chances of experiencing life as we all have in this room here.
The next thing we could share is prayer.
Now the word prayer can mean so many things and can mean very different things to each one of us because of our backgrounds,
Because of what we had learned in our life.
For this session,
I would like to keep it very simple.
The prayer that I'm talking about is nothing but a recognition,
Giving ourselves a moment to just recognize that we are very small as compared to this vast universe and we are a part of it.
We are alive,
We are existing because this universe wants us to be alive,
It wants us to be a part of it,
It wants us to see this universe in all its beauty.
To me that is prayer,
To me that is that recognition,
That giving yourself a chance to recognize that you have that chance and you are a part of this bigger universe,
This cosmic dance which we all are experiencing together.
If you put yourself even for a few minutes into this recognition,
Into this realization,
That is prayer for me.
I hope that would be the same for you as well.
Last thing which we could share,
And this is something which you never had shared before or maybe you had done that,
Is silence.
You could also share your silence,
The meditation,
The silence,
The centeredness that arises out of these moments for yourself.
If you just keep it for yourself,
Yes it is good for you,
But why not share it out with the world,
Share it with a thought,
With this intention that this silence reaches to the rest of the world as well.
It's so much needed in this world that all of us are in some sort of turmoil,
In some sort of situation where we need those few moments of silence.
In fact,
The best sharings are done in silence.
If you have seen,
You must have also experienced this yourself in situations where two lovers are sitting together,
There is on one level a lot of words to share,
A lot of emotions to share,
But on another level there is simply that silence to share.
And that's the most beautiful to share with somebody,
Your silence,
Those moments where you are absolutely silent,
Everyone else is absolutely silent,
And there is this connection which is unexplainable,
Which cannot be put in words,
Which can only be experienced by sharing silence.
So these are the five,
You can call it fragrances,
You can call it dimensions,
You can call it five good vibes out of your own being.
The first is love,
Second is joy,
Third is compassion,
Fourth is prayer,
And fifth is silence.
I would like you to dedicate this session by sharing these good vibes,
These five fragrances of your being,
Not just with yourself,
Not just with the other meditators sitting in this room,
But also with everyone.
While we are doing that in meditation,
Try not to verbalize anything,
Try not to think about it,
Because when we say love and when we use the words like I love you or I love this or I love that,
That verbalization,
That putting things into a language takes away the essence of it.
And in today's session,
I want you to focus on the essence,
On the feeling of it,
Try not to verbalize any of those fragrances,
Any of those attributes,
But rather just tune yourself into the feeling of it,
Into the vibration of it,
Into the deeper sense which we all have.
We all know these five fragrances,
These five characteristics of our being,
All we need to give ourselves is a moment of silence,
Is a moment,
Is a chance that we tune into it and then allow this to spread outwards unconditionally with everyone.
It's a beautiful meditation if you are relaxed,
If you are centered,
If you are silent,
It's a beautiful experience and I hope you will enjoy this session afterwards once we are done with these five fragrances,
Sharing with others,
We will simply sit in silence for another 10 minutes,
15 minutes depending on how you are feeling and just be here and now in this moment.
With that,
I would like to invite you in this meditative celebration with me and for the next 20-25 minutes I would request you to put everything aside,
Just be here with me for the next minutes.
Close your eyes and slowly find yourself a comfortable posture,
Settle into it.
Allow your body to settle,
Your mind to settle in your entire awareness in this moment here and now.
Keep your back straight,
Shoulders down,
Neck straight,
All your facial muscles are relaxed,
Eyes at rest and a gentle smile on your face as you enter into this meditative celebration.
Take a nice deep breath in,
Inhale from the nose and also exhale from the nose.
For the next minutes maintain a gentle and smooth rhythm of your breath.
As you breathe in and out,
Bring your awareness to your breath and allow it to settle there for some minutes.
Allow your body to relax,
Your mind to calm down.
And your awareness on your breath going in and out.
Let's take a deep breath in and out.
Simply observe your breath effortlessly,
Silently.
Let's take a deep breath in and out.
All your awareness on your breath as you become more centered,
More still.
Let's take a deep breath in and out.
Let's take a deep breath in and out.
Give yourself these moments to become more and more still.
Your mind to calm down and your awareness to settle on your breath.
Let's take a deep breath in and out.
As you feel more settled,
Take your awareness to your heart region in the middle of your chest and feel the silence,
Feel the warmth,
Feel the love arising out of your heart region.
Tune yourself into this feeling.
This sensation of love.
And allow it to radiate outwards from your being,
Radiating outwards to everyone.
As you remain sitting here silently.
Simply the sweetness of love is radiating outwards from your heart,
From your being to everyone.
Let's take a deep breath in and out.
Without touching any words,
Without touching any thoughts,
You simply sit here and love shared outwards with everyone.
Let's take a deep breath in and out.
Notice a sense of joy,
A sense of inner happiness arising out of this sharing.
Let the joy flow outwards.
Simply shared with everyone.
Sitting here silently.
This sharing of love,
Joy.
And your awareness on your breath.
Let's take a deep breath in and out.
As you become more silent,
Your heart opens up for the entire universe.
Take this moment to tune yourself into the feeling of compassion.
And share it,
Radiate it outwards from your being to rest of the world.
Let's take a deep breath in and out.
Your awareness on your breath and a sense of compassion radiating outwards from you to rest of the world.
Let's take a deep breath in and out.
Keep your awareness on your breath and tune yourself in this feeling of prayer.
Take this moment to recognize,
To acknowledge that you are a part of this universe.
Let's take a deep breath in and out.
Share this sense of prayer with others.
Let it flow outwards from your being into the universe.
Let it flow outwards from your being into the universe.
Awareness on your breath,
This sense of prayer radiating outwards.
Let it flow outwards from your being into the universe.
These moments,
Your body is silent,
Your mind is silent,
Your being is silent.
Let this be your sharing.
Let it flow outwards from your being into the universe.
Be the silence for this entire universe.
Let go in these moments.
Remain aware of this silence that's there inside of you.
In these moments.
And stay there,
Let it grow deeper.
As you gently breathe in and out.
As growing in more and more.
Just remain silent and aware.
Aware of nothing in particular,
Simply aware.
Let it flow outwards from your being into the universe.
Everything in you is still right now.
Take this moment to let go in this silence even deeper.
Don't touch the body,
Don't touch the mind.
Simply remain aware and silent.
Stay like this.
In this moment of silence,
Feel your aliveness.
Be thankful that you have this life.
Now gently bring your awareness back on your breath.
Awareness back in your body.
And very gently and slowly,
You may open your eyes or remain silent and continue sitting in meditation.
You may take this moment to move your body and at the same time just take these moments to reflect on the experience that you just had,
The last minutes and how you're feeling right now.
Feel yourself this moment of reflection right now.
Let it flow outwards from your being into the universe.
Now gently bring your awareness back on your breath.
And very gently and slowly,
You may open your eyes or remain silent.
Last few minutes,
I would like to open the session for questions for anything that relates to your practice of meditation.
If I could help in any way,
If I could answer anything in any way,
We take these few moments.
So up to you.
I have a question about when you talk about the awareness of the breath.
Is it supposed to be focused on the breath or is it supposed to be more large awareness Yeah,
It's more broader,
More softer,
Not concentration.
So to your question,
When we keep our awareness on the breath,
Unless we are doing a technique that requires focus and concentration,
Whenever we use the word awareness,
It just simply means you have a softer,
Broader awareness on the object of awareness.
Unless I or in your other methods of meditation,
It's specifically mentioned that you concentrate on a particular area or a particular object.
It always means it's somewhat spread out.
But yes,
When you are keeping your awareness on the breath,
You would hear some things from the outside and so on.
You let them be,
Let them also exist in your awareness,
But your awareness is more on your breath,
With the breath more than anything else that is outside.
I hope that answers your question.
Anything else?
Any other questions?
Did you guys enjoy the party?
There are no more questions,
There are no more things to share.
I would like to thank all of you for joining me in this Saturday evening meditation session and sharing all your love,
Joy,
Compassion,
Prayer and silence with me.
I hope you,
When you go out of this session and participate back into the world,
You radiate some of it with everyone which is so much needed in this world right now.
Thank you very much and I'll see you once again next,
Not the coming Monday,
But on 4th of March once again.
Namaste.
