Good morning,
And welcome to this gratitude meditation.
What a great way to start your day.
You know,
Each new day allows us the opportunity to begin with renewed appreciation.
If you're just waking up,
Take a few moments to stretch your arms overhead.
Wiggle your fingers,
Straighten your legs,
And point your toes,
And flex your feet.
And then settle in to a comfortable position.
Take a nice,
Deep cleansing breath in,
And a long,
Slow exhale out.
How fortunate we are to meet yet another day that is filled with possibilities.
Let's clear our thoughts of any leftover concerns from yesterday.
Just wash them away.
And let's release any anxiety we have about the future.
We're not in our past,
And we're not in our future.
We are right here in this moment.
And now that we're here,
Let's create an intention for your day.
How would you like to move through your experiences today?
Give yourself one or two words to describe how you want to move through your day.
Now let's place both hands on your stomach.
And breathe deeply into your belly so that your hands expand with your belly.
Allow yourself to begin feeling more energized,
More alert.
And whatever intention you set for how you want to move through your day,
Let's add gratitude to the list.
Gratitude is the antidote to sadness.
We can't be grateful and angry at the same time.
Gratitude is the best counterbalance to all of our negative emotions.
Now with your eyes closed,
Let's visualize the sun.
It's just coming up over the horizon.
It's touching the mountain peaks and the trees.
You can feel the warmth of the sun on your face.
It's on your shoulders.
You're warming up and waking up.
And as you experience the sun's warmth,
You see flowers opening up,
Their stems are stretching toward the sun,
Grateful for its energy.
And now you,
You stretch yourself up like the flower reaching toward the sun.
Let it bathe you from head to toe,
Awakening every part of your body.
Like flowers,
You too are alive.
Let's awaken further by expressing some gratitude this morning.
Let's take a deep cleansing breath in and sigh it out.
Repeat after me.
I am grateful to be alive.
I am grateful to be alive.
Let go of any concerns you may have about your day.
Right now,
It's all about expressing your gratitude for this day.
Let your gratitude just wash over you.
And again,
Repeat.
I allow gratitude to flow through me.
I am grateful for the sun.
I'm grateful for my breath.
I'm grateful for this day.
And I'm grateful for this life.
Now let's move that attention of appreciation to your body.
Allow this feeling of gratitude to fill you up from your toes to the top of your head as you say,
I am grateful for my body.
I am grateful for my body.
I am grateful for all that my body does for me for every bone,
Organ,
And cell in my body.
I extend my gratitude.
I am grateful for my body.
Now let's move to your mind,
Your beautiful,
Exquisite mind.
You have a mind like no other.
Repeat after me.
I am grateful for my mind.
I am grateful for my mind.
I am grateful for all that my mind does for me.
For the unique thoughts,
Ideas,
And creativity that pour out of me.
I am grateful for my mind.
Now let's prepare you for your day.
Repeat after me.
I am grateful for everything that I will experience today.
Say it again.
Speak it from your heart,
Whatever that means to you.
I am grateful for everything that I will experience today.
Your life will always have its ups and downs.
We can't escape them,
But we can be grateful for them.
It's easy to be grateful for the good,
But those things we perceive as bad also need our gratitude because it's in these experiences that our greatest lessons are revealed.
Gratitude is the keeper of light in all the darkness.
Repeat it once more.
I am grateful for everything I will experience today.
What else can you be grateful for today?
What's something specific for you?
Bring up that person,
The situation,
Or the thing,
Bring it up into your mind and say it out loud.
I am grateful for.
.
.
Hold that feeling in your heart.
And when the troubles come today,
Come back to this moment of gratitude.
Take a few deep breaths,
Repeating what you are grateful for today.
Feel free to stay in this grateful state for as long as you'd like.
If you're ready to end this meditation,
Open your eyes,
Take another deep breath in,
Stretch your arms overhead,
Extend your legs,
Wiggle your toes,
And exhale.
Return your breath to a nice,
Comfortable rhythm and enjoy your day.
