Hey there,

It's Deanna.

Thank you for joining me for this guided Ikigai meditation.

I want you to begin by finding a quiet place where you can just sit or lie down comfortably.

Close your eyes if you're comfortable and begin taking a few deep breaths.

Inhaling deeply through your nose and allowing yourself to hold that air for a moment and then exhaling fully through your mouth.

Let's do one together.

A nice deep breath in the nose,

Holding it for a moment and a nice controlled exhale through the mouth.

Another nice deep breath in,

Inhale and filling your lungs fully.

Filling as much as you can and feeling your chest expand.

Holding it for a moment and as you exhale releasing all tension.

And now as you're breathing I want you to feel the ground beneath you supporting you.

Whether it's a sofa,

The floor,

A chair,

Your bed or even a yoga mat or meditation cushion.

Whatever it is,

I want you to consciously feel your connection to it and the ground beneath you which is supporting you right now.

And with each breath I want you to feel yourself becoming more and more relaxed,

Present in this moment.

Allowing yourself to just be.

Discovering parts of yourself that are going to be magical,

That will come to the surface for you today and give you awareness and clarity.

Nice deep breaths in through the nose,

Holding it just for a moment and exhale.

Take a couple more deep breaths on your own and just feel where they go in your body.

Does the air get stuck?

Does it gently flow as it should?

Where can you place a focus to release tension?

Feel the air coming in through your nostrils,

The coolness touching the skin,

Gently,

Quietly,

Filling your body with beautiful energy.

How does it feel in the chest,

In the lungs?

And as you're exhaling,

How does it feel in your mouth,

Your throat?

Does it help if you simply make a noise on the exhale,

Such as ah.

Find a perfect system that works for you.

And remember,

There is no right or wrong way.

What works for you is your meditation.

Let's take another nice deep breath in together.

And holding it just for a moment and exhale.

And take a couple more on your own.

Good.

Now we're going to do some visualization of the four elements.

I want you to imagine before you four glowing orbs of light.

And they can look like whatever they do for you.

There is no right or wrong answer here.

Each orb represents an element of ikigai,

Passion,

Vocation,

Profession,

And admission.

Let's begin with passion,

What you love.

And here,

I just want you to allow your imagination to go where it needs to go.

Whatever it feels like for you is right.

There is no judgment.

I want you to visualize in your mind's eye the first orb.

And now I want you to think about the things you love.

What activities or hobbies make your heart sing?

When do you feel most alive?

Allow those images and feelings and thoughts to flow through you.

Make them as vivid and clear as you can.

I'll give you a moment.

Good job.

Now let's focus on vocation.

What you're good at.

I want you to move your mind's eye to your second orb.

And here,

I want you to reflect upon your skills and talents.

What are you naturally good at?

What do people commend you for?

Again,

Allow those images,

Feelings and thoughts associated with these skills that you have arise.

Allow them to come to the surface.

Remember,

There is no right or wrong way.

And there is no judgment.

Allow your mind and your heart to do what it needs to.

I will give you a moment.

Well done.

Now let's focus on profession.

What you can be paid for.

I want you to shift your attention now to the third orb.

And consider the tasks or roles that you could be compensated for.

What skills or talents of yours are valued in the world of work or commerce.

And I want you to vividly envision yourself in these roles.

Even if it isn't something you're doing today.

Is it a passion or dream?

Maybe something that fear is holding you back from whatever it is.

Create this in your mind's eye as vividly as you can.

I'll give you a moment.

Wonderful.

Now let's focus on your mission.

What the world needs.

Finally,

Let's contemplate on your fourth orb.

I want you to think about the needs of the world around you.

What changes or solutions do you feel are necessary?

How can you contribute?

Feel any emotions or inspirations that might arise.

Again,

Be as vividly as you can.

This could be something you're doing now.

Or maybe a dream.

Or maybe something just comes to you in this meditation.

I'll give you a moment.

Now,

I want you to visualize these four orbs in front of you in your mind's eye in a perfect row,

Glowing with whatever colors you've made.

Maybe they look like a rainbow.

Their lights merging into the center of them.

I want you to bring those four orbs together slowly,

Gently,

Allowing them to merge in the center.

And as they merge,

They are forming a beautiful,

Bright,

Harmonious light.

This light is your ikigai.

And now I want you to ask yourself as you're watching this magnificent light,

Gently fold and weave into each other.

Where do these elements intersect for me?

What is my ikigai?

Now listen for any insights,

Feelings or even images that might emerge.

And remember,

There's no rush.

This is a journey of exploration and introspection.

Take your time and allow yourself to focus on the moving of the lights coming together.

What is coming to you?

Whatever comes to you is right.

Remember,

There's no judgment.

Whatever it feels like for you is right.
