Something is certain in life.

We will change.

Through the media and modern culture we encouraged to believe that there is something inherently wrong with getting older and aging.

Yet it is the most certain thing that will occur in our lives.

We will change.

We will age.

And the harder that we try to resist these changes,

The more difficult it becomes to embrace ourselves just as we are.

In turn it becomes more and more difficult to live in the present and to feel radiant and connected as human beings.

When we turn to nature we are surprised by the beauty in the different expressions.

Leaves are vibrantly green and brown,

Change to golden colours,

Yellows and reds,

Trees are stark and bare and then full of colour and life again.

Everything is cyclical and everything changes and there is such immense beauty in the diversity.

Knowing that nothing in nature will ever last forever invites us to become more present.

Time in nature is healing for this very reason.

Take a deep breath in and release out with me.

How important is it to be in control for you?

When you think of your body changing,

What emotions arise in you?

Many of us feel great fear around losing control.

Although many of us also desire to surrender more and to feel safe enough to relax,

Our early experiences in life perhaps have made us fear change.

We can learn to struggle when we sense change is imminent,

Especially if it feels like it's happening to us.

We can spend our lives wasting a lot of energy and life force resisting the inevitable.

For women a significant part of her beauty lies in how she is never the same woman that she was just a few days ago.

Her entire body revolves around the four seasons reflecting qualities of each one just like nature.

For the attuned lover she can never get boring.

She can never need to be replaced because she is too much the same.

No,

Quite the opposite.

She is many woman in one.

Constantly different as her cycle changes,

As she steps into different periods of her life.

Her skin,

Her hair,

Her moods,

Her tastes,

Her appetite for life all shifts as she moves through life.

Envision autumn.

In nature,

Autumn is a time of winding down.

The nights get longer and the weather gets cooler.

Within a woman's body,

Autumn is represented by a similar slowing down and retreating inwards.

Her energy levels begin to wane.

She may feel moody and unable to meet others requests.

She may crave more spaciousness and enjoy time alone.

This is a time of tuning in after the more outward facing spring and summer seasons.

Winter is coming and autumn is a time for her to step back into herself.

Feel what autumn feels like within your body.

Do you embrace autumn?

Is it a comfortable time for you?

Or does it feel like a season that you wish to speed up,

Ignore?

Now envision winter.

It is cold and snow may be present.

Everything has now retreated inwards.

Branches appear and life slows down.

Envision the season in a woman's body.

This inner winter is the time of her monthly bleed.

A time of inner reflection and metaphorical death.

Her energy is at a low and many women prefer to be on their own during this time.

Winter is not a time to be giving to others and she may feel frustrated at tasks or duties imposed on her throughout this time.

Feel into what the season brings up for you in your life.

Feel what winter feels like within your body.

If you no longer have your monthly bleed,

Winter will still circulate throughout you.

Winter is still alive in you waiting to be given an opportunity for her full expression.

Do you give yourself this time?

How strong are your boundaries?

How firm are you with self-care practices that prioritize you as a woman?

Let's move to spring.

Rebirth after the cold long winter season.

Spring brings the sense of potential in fresh new shoots,

Warmer weather and the budding of leaves and flowers throughout nature.

Within a woman's body this is represented by a re-emerging after her period in hibernation.

Her energy levels begin to rise again and she feels excitement for new projects and a capacity for a deeper sense of concentration for creative tasks that light her up.

Feel what spring feels like within your body.

Is it a time that brings you joy?

Is it a season that you are comfortable with?

Lastly,

Envision summer.

Things are heating up.

There is warmth with long days and short nights.

Within the woman's body there is an inner heat too as this is often the fertile time of her cycle and her energy may be more outward,

Expressive,

Sociable.

Being of service to those she loves and feeling playful and flirty accompanies this phase.

There is an abundance of energy within and it's a powerful time for her to call in what she desires.

Feel what summer feels like within your body.

Are you most in your element when you are sociable and outwardly expressive?

Or do times of self-retreat and introspection light you up more?

There is deep wisdom to be found when we take an honest look at our life as seasons and notice which ones we feel more comfortable with.

Underlying it all is change.

Change that is divinely orchestrated throughout a woman's body.

Change that is waiting for us to accept and embrace it as resistance is futile.

How would it feel to embrace change and age rather than resist it?

How would it feel to show up as all the colours of yourself rather than just those you feel most comfortable with?

What do you need to release in order to own all aspects of your womanness?

And what stories of women from your past who have struggled with ageing?

What stories need to be released for you to write a new narrative of your own?

What battles do you choose not to face in this lifetime?

When the enemy is nature,

Something that will always win.

It's a smart idea to put down the weapons and to embrace the variety and diversity that will come your way.

Knowing we will never be the same brings a delicious invitation to live more fully in the now.

Knowing that our hair may change colour,

Our fitness may wane,

Our muscles may change,

We will grow from small to tall,

We will be active at some stages then require more downtime,

Invites us to ensure that we are so fully in the moment we are in.

Knowing none of it is promised to us as well,

Begs us to make the most of the gift that we are experiencing right now.

Even if there are more grey hairs than we would like,

Even if we are not yet old enough to do the thing we wish,

Even if our skin used to have more elasticity and now it doesn't,

All these things so futile in the larger picture.

What one woman craves,

The other woman is living with and wanting something different.

What a shame to be in the perpetual self-imposed jail of resistance.

You are not a robot designed to be consistent and unchanging.

You are wild.

You are free.

Wow! I loved that! I am 62 and I have decided that I will no longer dim my light in order to be less, to "fit in", and not be "too much". I want to wear leopard print with confidence on the days I feel like it. I want to sing and dance and let that inner spirit of me be free. I needed this now. Thank you!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I 'know' these things, but to have you so lovingly speak them, brought me to tears. I never thought, as a young woman, that I would be so resistant to change. So thank you from the bottom of my heart. πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ
