Namaste!
Welcome to In the Flow with Laurie Albert.
Be Here Now,
One of Ram Dass's favorite sayings.
It's amazing how one day can change like everything,
Right?
So whenever you're listening to this in whatever part of the world you're in,
You probably would be aware that Tiger Woods was in an accident.
And when I saw this,
You know,
Breaking news,
Blah blah blah,
I'm just overwhelmed with the idea of,
It's not the idea of,
The concept of whatever you want to say,
Of living in the present moment.
And this is for actually a couple of reasons.
Number one is that,
Gosh,
You just never know when something's gonna happen.
So living in the present moment and being in the present moment,
Not even just living,
But being in the present moment,
Can really,
First of all,
It can keep you calm.
It can,
You know,
I mean,
And it gives you perspective,
Right?
But second of all,
It makes you stop and slow down.
And,
You know,
And what I keep thinking about,
You know,
They said that Tiger Woods was maybe going a little fast,
You know,
Kind of thing.
And all I could think of was,
How many times in the day even,
Right,
Forget the week or the year or whatever,
But how many times in the day do we find ourselves going really fast down the road because we got to get to this,
Because we've got to do this,
Because we've got to do that,
Blah blah blah,
You got to do this,
Got to do that.
We need to slow down.
And I'm not saying that I am perfect at this because I'm definitely not,
Right?
But,
You know,
It was just really weird because that the accident happened with Tiger Woods.
Then I was watching a TV show and this man and his daughter were arguing in the car and then there was an accident and the man ended up passing away.
And I have to say,
Are these arguments worth it?
You know,
Was it worth it?
You know,
Obviously it was a TV show,
I get it,
But it's the point,
You know,
It was the point.
And it's so interesting because an old saying comes to mind of,
Pick your battles.
And I think that this is a really great sort of lesson for us for today because before you get into it,
Pick your battles.
Is it really that important that you get irritated and you tell the person about blah blah blah?
Is it really that important?
I don't know,
You know,
I mean,
Especially in,
Well,
I mean,
This could be any relationship but in marriage,
You know,
I mean,
Does it really matter,
Really truly matter that the toilet roll goes this way versus under?
Does it really matter?
You know,
Pick your battles.
Be present,
You know,
In our hearts.
I like to think that when we are being present,
Our hearts are calm.
Right?
I like to think that our heart,
Our hearts are calm and they're in their their they're just waiting,
You know,
And one of the things that,
You know,
You guys know that I meditate before doing anything that I do spiritually.
I meditate,
Right?
And I ask for help from the guides and my my spirit guides and Archangel Michael and the blah blah blah,
Right?
And Chief Yellowhawk is a guide of mine now and he said to me this morning,
He said,
You know,
To be present isn't just stopping,
Right?
Because there are many things that we can do to get ourselves into the present moment,
He said,
But sometimes it's looking at a different perspective,
You know,
Like if you go outside,
There's two little exercises that I want to do relating to this.
Chief Yellowhawk has mentioned about the idea of standing outside barefoot and connecting to the earth and closing your eyes and I realized that maybe there's some zero temperatures but you know what?
What the heck?
Go do it anyway,
Right?
So if you close your eyes and stand outside barefoot for just a moment,
Closing your eyes and allowing your feet,
Allowing yourself to feel your feet on the ground,
It sort of grounds you but then it also puts you into that place,
That present moment of the here and now,
The be here now,
Right?
And then the other little exercise and then we'll get into meditation but the other thing I wanted to say about this was,
Okay,
So as we're sitting here and you're looking at me,
Don't look at me.
Look somewhere else in the room where you are right now and look at something that maybe you haven't looked at in the room where you are for a while,
You haven't seen.
Like I'm looking right now and I'm seeing this sort of group of candles that I have across the room and what those represent to me is my love of seeing the light,
You know,
That sort of thing but you know as we look at the things across our room and around our room,
What do you see?
It kind of allows us to be in that present moment.
It brings us in.
It brings us in,
Right?
So let's get ready to meditate.
We're gonna do a tiny bit of a different meditation today.
So let's get ourselves comfortable and close our eyes.
Let's take a nice deep breath in and release it.
Perfect.
So our meditation for today,
I want us to concentrate on our breath and just notice the natural rise and fall of our breath going in and out of our body as we breathe in,
Feeling that cool air coming through our nose,
Filling up our lungs and then as we breathe out,
Feeling the warm breath coming back out of our mouth.
As we concentrate on our breath,
Let's say to ourselves,
I am.
I am.
As we concentrate on our breath,
Saying these words,
I am.
If you have other thoughts coming in,
That's okay.
Just gently brush them to the side and say to yourself,
I am.
I will keep the time and let's begin.
I am.
I am.
I am.
I am.
I am.
I am.
I am.
I am.
I am.
I am.
I am.
Let's start bringing our awareness back to our bodies.
Notice our breath going in and out.
You can release the mantra,
I am for now.
Let's take a nice deep breath in and release it.
Whenever you feel comfortable,
You can open your eyes.
That's the perfect way to get present in the moment,
Is to focus on your breath,
Right?
Because that is something that is happening in every given moment,
Right?
Stay present today,
Friends.
Stay just aware and pick your battles,
Right?
So thank you so much for joining from my heart to yours.
Namaste.
