You Are Beautiful!
by Lauri Albert
Can you take a compliment? Have you ever noticed that sometimes we can and sometimes we can’t? That’s our self-esteem playing with us! It’s actually important for us to accept compliments! We are children of the divine, and we must never forget that!

And hello there.
Welcome to In the Flood with Lori Albert.
I hope everybody's doing fantastic today.
So you are beautiful.
How does that feel whenever I say that to you or whenever somebody would say a compliment to you?
How does that feel to you?
So sometimes,
And correct me if I'm wrong,
I don't know if you can on this,
But you know,
Correct me if I'm wrong,
But sometimes some people will give you like a compliment and you'll be like,
You'll be like,
Oh,
Thanks,
You know,
Like thinking to yourself,
Oh no,
No,
No,
No,
I'm not that.
Or if somebody says,
Oh my God,
You,
Your shirt is beautiful today.
And you kind of go,
Ah,
You know,
You know,
I mean,
Sometimes we accept it and we feel like that,
Oh,
You know,
That's,
That's cool.
Cause I wanted to look good today or whatever.
And then sometimes you kind of go,
Oh,
Are you just like saying that or they don't really mean that.
Right.
You know,
Why do we do that is the big question for today.
Why do we allow ourselves to not accept compliments?
Why?
Why is that?
You know,
I had sort of way back when I had sort of an aha moment surrounding this and I thought I wanted to share this with you guys today because,
Well,
Let me just tell you what the story was.
Right.
And I don't exactly remember where I learned this from,
But it made a huge impact on my life.
Right.
So someone,
Whoever it was,
The teacher or whatever said that in order for us to be whole,
Balanced,
Complete,
Have our lives be that and have our,
Have ourselves be complete,
Balanced people,
A spirit,
Right?
Our,
Our individual spirit to be complete and balanced.
We have to learn to accept compliments.
And I thought,
Ooh,
Really?
And at first I thought,
Of course I accept compliments,
Right?
You know,
But the reality is sometimes when our self esteem isn't quite maybe where it should be,
We kind of say to ourselves,
Oh,
You know,
Or,
Oh,
You know,
And I have friends that do that.
It's like,
I'll be like,
You know,
And I'm not saying I don't because I do it too.
You know,
When your self esteem is just maybe a little bit on the lower edge,
You kind of say,
Oh,
You don't,
You don't really mean that.
Or,
Oh,
I just threw this on.
Oh,
I didn't even mean to look good.
No,
No,
No,
No.
Yeah,
I don't look good.
No,
No,
No,
No.
Right?
You kind of do that.
But guess what?
We are all children of the divine.
We are all children of the divine.
We are beautiful.
So when we say that we're actually dissing God,
Universe,
Spirit,
Whatever you want to call it,
Right?
We're kind of dissing them.
It,
He,
Her,
You know,
And that amazes me because if we're children of the divine and we are perfect and we are whole and we are beautiful just the way we are.
Isn't that amazing?
I,
For me,
That was a huge aha moment.
So whenever somebody says,
Oh my gosh,
You look so beautiful today.
Your makeup looks great.
How about trying just saying thank you.
Now what I tend to do sometimes,
And this necessarily isn't great,
Is that if my self esteem will be like to turn it back around and say,
Oh my God,
You're,
Your hair looks beautiful today.
You know,
Sometimes I'll turn it back around and I'll be like,
Oh,
You're,
You know,
To get the attention off me,
You know,
But you know what?
Try just saying thank you and see what happens.
Try just saying,
Oh my gosh,
Thank you.
I appreciate that.
It's uncomfortable sometimes,
But I think it's essential because we should appreciate who we are.
We are children of the divine God,
Spirit,
Universe.
We are children of them.
We are made from them.
So we must not allow our self esteem to not allow us to accept a compliment because guess what?
You are beautiful.
You are absolutely beautiful.
And we must accept that.
So I want you all to say that.
Say that back out loud right now.
Thank you.
You are beautiful.
Say back.
Thank you.
Right?
That's what we must do in it to be that whole complete person.
So today's mantra,
It's going to be interesting,
Right?
It's going to tie right into this,
Right?
So let's get ourselves comfortable and get ready to meditate.
Ah,
Close your eyes and allow yourself to just start to relax.
Let's take a nice deep breath in and release.
What are you grateful for today?
What is it that feels good in your life?
What are you grateful for?
Today I am grateful for my daughter.
We had a lovely day yesterday.
What are you grateful for?
So I'd like for us to get into a relaxation.
So I'm going to start by let's put our attention on the top of our heads.
Let's relax our heads.
I know that sounds a little crazy,
But if you place your attention on the top of your head,
Relax that.
Relax your head and relax your neck.
Your neck holds up everything.
Your head is the main center,
Right?
So relax that.
Give that some attention.
And your shoulders.
Let's relax our shoulders and our arms all the way down to the tips of our fingers.
And our chest.
Let's focus our attention on our chest.
Let us relax.
Allow your chest and your back to relax.
And your abdomen.
Let us relax.
And your pelvis area,
Your hips.
Try to focus on and relax your hips.
And then moving down your legs.
Tops of your legs,
Your thighs,
And your knees.
And your calves and your feet.
Place your attention on every part of your legs and relax them.
Very good.
For our mantra today,
We will be using,
Thank you,
I am grateful.
It all starts with gratitude.
That well-rounded life that we so crave,
It starts with gratitude.
So the mantra,
Thank you,
I am grateful,
Is a gorgeous way of starting your day.
If you lose your mantra,
That's absolutely fine.
Just come back and focus on your breathing.
I will keep the time.
And let's begin.
Thank you.
I am grateful.
Thank you.
I am grateful.
Thank you.
I am grateful.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
I am grateful.
Thank you.
When you feel comfortable,
You can open your eyes.
So I am so grateful.
Thank you guys so much for joining me whenever you can.
I appreciate each and every one of you.
And today,
My challenge is,
If somebody pays you a compliment,
Accept it.
Just say thank you.
Don't feel like you have to say anything back.
I know it might feel a little awkward at first.
But just say thank you and acknowledge them because guess what giving compliments is just as nurturing and important as receiving them.
So thank you for joining me as always.
I appreciate each and every one of you.
And until next time,
Namaste everybody.
