True compassion is the ability to be sympathetic, empathetic, as well as having the desire to alleviate another’s pain and suffering. True compassion is also independent of attachment. Imagine if our compassion could transcend our relationships and the attachment we have to them – pure sympathy, pure empathy, and pure desire to help them heal. It is the ultimate characteristic of emotional intelligence. But all compassion starts with self-compassion. If you are not rooting for yourself in each moment, how can you root for others? If you can’t empathize with your own plight, then you are not connected to your own heart. And it’s from the depths of our own heart that compassion is birthed. Healing others begins with healing yourself.

Hello this is davidji and welcome to today's meditation on compassion.

So let's find a comfortable place.

Let's close our eyes and together let's take a long slow deep breath in.

Let's do that one more time.

Slow deep breath in.

Let that go.

Now begin to witness your breath as it moves in and out.

In these wisdom traditions the goddess Tara is known to protect us from fear and danger.

She heals illnesses,

Increases the length of our life,

And brings us abundance.

The green Tara is specifically the goddess of compassion.

Green symbolizes the color of the heart chakra and our awakening of compassion.

Green is also the color of the wind and of nature.

Whomever prays to Tara receives her benefits like the swiftness of the wind,

Pure compassion in action,

And by chanting the Tara mantra we awaken compassion within ourselves,

Within our world,

Our heart,

With the heart of the universe.

The mantra is Om Tare Tutare Ture Soha.

Tare Tutare Ture Soha.

Om represents Tara's sacred and enlightened body and the oneness that unites us all.

Tare means liberating from all suffering.

Tutare means liberating from the eight fears.

These eight great spiritual fears are ignorance,

Pride,

Anger,

Jealousy,

Wrong thinking,

Greed,

Desire,

And its attachment and doubts.

Those are the eight great spiritual fears.

Ignorance,

Pride,

Anger,

Jealousy,

Wrong thinking,

Greed,

Desire,

Desire and attachment and doubts.

And by repeating or chanting the Tara mantra Om Tare Tutare Ture Soha.

Some traditions instead of Soha pronounce Swaha.

So Tare means liberating from all suffering.

Tutare means liberating from the eight fears.

Ture means liberating from the duality,

Seeing ourselves as separate,

Which brings us clarity and the cessation of confusion.

And Soha or Swaha means may the meaning of the mantra take root within me.

Soha essentially means may the meaning of the mantra take root within me.

So let's ever so gently begin the practice of opening our heart and allowing green Tara to take root in all her divine compassion and love.

So ever so gently hum to yourself or sing to yourself or say to yourself or chant Om Tare Tut Soha.

Om Tare Tut Soha.

Take it deeper.

Let's use the mantra.

If you get lost,

That's perfect.

Begins with an Om Tare Tutare Ture Soha.

Repeat this mantra over and over and you may drift away to thoughts,

You may drift away to sounds,

You may drift away to physical sensations.

And whenever you realize you're not repeating Om Tare Tutare Ture Soha,

Ever so gently drift back to the mantra.

And if you forget the mantra and only remember one aspect,

That's perfect.

This is all about intention.

I'll watch the time and I'll ring the chime at the five minute mark.

So together let's silently repeat Om Tare Tutare Ture Soha.

Let's begin.

Om Tare Tutare Ture Soha.

Sit gently with your eyes closed and let the compassion just fill the empty spaces inside you.

Om Tare Tutare Ture Soha.

Let's all whisper that right now to each other.

Om Tare Tutare Ture Soha.

And let that compassion ripple through us,

Touching every cell in our bodies,

Touching the local and the non-local,

The manifest and the unmanifest,

The realm of physical,

Psychological,

And spiritual.

Allow compassion to flow through every fiber of our being to relieve our suffering,

That we may help others relieve theirs.

From the sweet spot of the universe,

This is David Jean,

Wishing you a day of pure,

Unbounded,

Infinite compassion.

Namaste.

I'll see you in the gap.

Om Tare Tutare Ture Soha.

Om Tare Tutare Ture Soha.

Om Tare Tutare Ture Soha.

Om Tare Tutare Ture Soha.

Wow!!! Your compassion enriches the Divine Love of Green Tara. I’m very familiar with Green Tara… as I follow PrashaPaz here on IT. I appreciate your explanation of her Healing powers. I equally appreciate the way you introduce the mantra and how you allow for quiet recital of the mantra
