As a leader, we need to be comfortable with our own energy and reactions. After that, we can be present with others, their perceptions, differences, skills, and points of views. In this practice, through an initial body scan, we notice what is, make room for what is, and build a practice which finds a place to care to be present for ourselves and others. This practice is intended to help you build a method to work through the energies you carry, so that you can be open to others' energy.

As a leader we move toward what is.

With freedom we are in what is,

Not reactive,

Able to continue to hear others who are different,

Able to respond in a way that encourages humanity,

Encourages different gifts,

Is discerning,

Is able to in the moment continue to chart a path toward life.

In our meditation practice today we will be practicing sitting,

Encouraging,

Watching what is,

To be able to emerge through it to presence,

To a place of more space,

To a place of less reactivity.

To get started take a few deep breaths.

Notice breath in the place that you typically notice it when you are doing your meditation practice.

Do you notice it in your chest?

Do you feel it in the rise,

In the settling of your belly?

Watch it come in and go out.

Now gently closing your eyes,

Continuing to watch your breath,

Noticing the openness of the new breath,

Releasing the breath more slowly than we take it in,

As if the breath is listening,

Taking in,

Hearing,

Letting go,

Hearing.

Now in what is the beginning of a body scan,

Notice from the top of your head,

Any place what you are feeling like you are holding,

Maybe it is in the crest of your head,

The place where the top of your scalp comes together,

Moving down from there to your forehead,

Down into your nose and into your mouth,

Maybe in your jaw,

Watching,

Seeing how you are holding,

Knowing there is nothing you have to do,

Know where you have to go right now,

Just watching,

Watching the presence of your energy.

Again breathing in,

Letting out the slow,

Slower energy of breathing out,

Moving down to your neck.

As you find a place that has an energy that perhaps is less comfortable to you,

Just staying with that energy,

Hear it,

Listening to it,

Feeling it,

Welcoming it.

If you were to rate that energy,

Is it a 1,

From a 1 to a 10,

Is it a 9?

Continuing to scroll down to your sternum,

Across your shoulders,

Down the back of your neck,

What is the energy like now?

From the body scan you have done to this point,

Expanding our practice a little bit,

Sit with the energy that you found,

Where have you found the most energy?

Go back there now and just notice it again,

Breathing into it,

Being aware of it.

At this point invite the energy that you found at any of the places where it's strongest,

Invite it down,

Invite it down to sit in your belly.

Once in your belly what intensity does this energy carry?

Is it a 1,

Is it a 9?

As you watch the energy,

If it's a 5,

6,

7,

8 or 9,

Imagine yourself more distant from the energy,

Back to a safe place from the energy,

Safe distance until the energy is maybe a 3 or a 4.

Again,

Inviting this energy to be in your belly.

What color is this energy for you now?

Is it a gold color?

Is it streaming?

Is it swirling?

Again,

Keeping the energy as a 3,

Maybe it's useful to place the energy within a soft container where it's free to be again at a 3 or a 4,

Where you can live alongside it for a little while.

What's happening to the energy now as it's in this container for you?

Has its color changed?

Again,

Keeping the energy at a 3 or a 4,

Is the energy moving?

Is it like a wave?

Is it like a wheel?

Now that the energy is here in your belly at a 3,

Continue to watch.

Continue to create a safe container for it.

As you sit with this energy now,

Reassure this energy that you'll come back to it later.

Provide it a safe place that you can come back to.

Make an appointment to come back to it.

Remember the place in your body that you found this.

And at this point,

Invite the energy that you found to return to the place where you found it,

Knowing that you can come back later,

Spend more time.

And as we come close to the end of the time that we'll be spending,

Be reassured that any of the energy you find in your body is nothing but the next step,

The next step that's provided to you in life.

Hear what the energy says.

Feel it.

Love it.

And in so doing,

Being more present to yourself,

You're creating a place where you can be present for others,

Present for yourself and others at the same time.

Breathe into your belly breathing slowly.

Breathe in.

Release.

Breathe in.

Release.

Breathe in.

Release.
