Good morning and welcome to The Artist's Morning.
My name is Darius and I am so grateful that you and I get this time together.
Our practice today is on the theme of unconditional love.
I am making this meditation on December 19th.
That's two days away from the winter solstice,
Which is the darkest night of the year.
And so,
Today,
With your permission,
If you are open and willing,
We are going to get closer to the shadow.
Closer to the dark.
Closer to those parts of us that spend a lot of time in the shadow.
And we are going to find ways to bring love and acceptance and security to those parts.
So let's begin our practice.
If your eyes are open,
I'd like to invite you to close them now.
As we go inwards together.
Nice and slow.
Taking a few deep breaths here.
Deep breath in.
Big exhale out.
Go nice and slow.
Softening your forehead,
Softening your jaw,
Softening your shoulders,
Your back.
Bringing the softness down your legs.
Gently opening your heart space.
The shadow,
The darkness,
Can be a very loaded concept.
Many people don't want to spend time with their shadow.
That's okay.
I'd like to offer up that all of you is worthy of love.
All your parts.
It's easy to love the optimistic,
Joyful,
Excited parts.
You have parts that are sad.
You have parts that are angry.
You have parts that are uncertain.
You have parts that overeat.
If you have parts that over consume.
If you have parts that want to just sabotage and take it all down.
Even those parts are worthy of love.
Even those parts are worthy of love.
So as we take a deep breath in.
Tall,
Gentle spine.
Feet grounded.
Heart open.
We sit back.
Into the seat of our soul.
And from this place.
From this higher self place.
We are not afraid of our shadow.
We are not afraid of the darkness.
We are not afraid.
Of our shadow parts.
We are not afraid of the darkness.
Feel the confidence from the seat of your soul.
Feel the groundedness.
Feel the tremendous capacity for love from this place.
Nice,
Expansive breath.
Big exhale out.
From the seat of your soul.
This expansive,
This grounded,
This strong confident place.
We invite all of our parts.
Any part that has been in the shadow.
Marginalized,
Pushed away.
We invite them forward.
You might feel the energy of sad parts,
Angry parts.
Uncertain parts.
Parts that want to give up on everything.
Always come back to the seat of your soul.
Softening,
Strengthening.
Opening your heart.
From this place.
We invite and call forward.
All parts in the shadow.
We can sit here with you.
We can be here with you.
There is nothing we need from you.
Except for one thing.
Is that we love you.
I need nothing from you.
Except to love you unconditionally.
Just feel the impact of that statement on these parts.
We don't need to fix them.
We don't need to change them.
All we want to do is love them.
All we want to do is love them.
We're going to sit here in the dark with them.
We are not afraid of them.
I am not afraid of you.
I am not afraid of you.
I love you.
Just take a moment to feel the energy.
No demand.
No need to change.
Just grounded,
Present,
Loving energy.
Grounded,
Present,
Loving energy.
Let's take a moment to just sit in silence with these parts and practice allowing them to be exactly as they are.
Needing nothing from them.
And seeing if you can stay open.
If you can stay open.
And stay loving.
We're going to go into one minute of silence starting now.
Bravo,
You made it.
I find silence can be particularly challenging and particularly rewarding.
In many ways it amplifies our inner world.
Maybe it was easy for you to stay in the seat of your soul and bring love,
Unconditional love,
To all these parts.
Maybe it was very difficult and you could only stay for a few seconds.
And that's okay too.
Those few seconds are seeds that we plant.
And they can grow.
This is our last song this morning.
I'm going to stay quiet.
Just let you and these parts have some time together.
And maybe there is a part of you that could really use your presence,
Your love,
Your open heart.

Inviting shadow parts into our presence can be challenging.
And for those that are truly committed to self-love and unconditional self-love,
This is a key practice.
Unconditional self-love means loving all of our parts,
Incorporating,
Integrating all of our parts.
