Good morning,
And welcome to the artist's morning.
My name is Darius,
And I'm so grateful that you and I get this time together.
Today's practice is a very special practice.
It's a special practice because today is a special day for me.
Exactly one week ago,
Seven days,
My son was born.
It has been one of the most incredible weeks of my life,
Full of excitement,
Adorableness,
And love,
And also a week where it was very easy for me to lose my center.
And so today I am called to share a meditation intended to help us come back to our center,
Come back to grounding,
To check in with our hearts,
And to see if there are places inside us that need a little bit of space,
A little bit of grace,
To feel,
To process,
To integrate.
Now I understand that there's a really good chance that you might not be going through the experience of a newborn in your life,
But there's also a chance that there is something new and exciting,
Or perhaps some sort of experience that is unsure,
Uncertain.
And so if you are interested in a practice where we come back to our center,
Come back to our grounding,
This is it.
Let's take a nice deep breath together,
Breathing in,
Big exhale out.
And if your eyes are open,
I'd like to invite you to close them now.
As we go nice and slow,
Giving ourselves a chance to land here now.
Can you feel your feet,
The bottoms of your feet,
The tops of your feet?
Bring your attention to your feet now.
Taking a deep breath,
Bringing the breath all the way down to your feet.
Feeling the ground beneath you,
The stability,
The support available to you here.
It's okay to go slow.
It's okay to be still.
It's okay to take nice,
Deep breaths,
Signaling to our system that we are safe here.
We are held here.
We are supported here.
Dropping your shoulders gently,
Softening your forehead,
Your face,
Your jaw.
And noticing if there's any places around your heart that feel contracted,
That feel guarded.
And it's okay to guard your heart,
Your beautiful,
Radiant heart.
Sometimes there's a lot going on and we want to protect our heart.
There's nothing wrong with that.
Continue taking deep breaths into your heart,
Sending love to your heart.
I love you,
Dear heart.
I love you,
Dear heart.
Thank you for everything you do.
Thank you for how much you care.
Just really loving our hearts for a moment.
And if you'd like,
You can even place one or two hands on your heart and just hold your heart.
Love your heart.
You can leave your hand on your heart or put them back down on your lap.
Nice,
Deep breaths here,
Allowing new energy into your system,
Allowing old,
Stagnant energy out with your exhales.
Allowing a gentle softness to fall upon you from the top of your head,
All the way down to your toes.
You are safe here.
You are held here.
You are supported here.
As I mentioned earlier,
It's okay to protect our hearts and to love our hearts for a moment or two.
It's okay to guard them,
Especially when there's a lot going on.
There can be a lot that's got you excited.
There can be a lot that's got you scared.
There can be a lot that you're just not sure of.
A lot can mean many things.
And there are moments when the event slows down and there's an opportunity for us to process,
To feel,
To think,
To integrate the experience.
And so I just want to carve out some time here to gently allow you to scan your system and see if there's something inside that's ready to be looked at,
To be acknowledged,
To be felt,
To be processed through your system.
Don't overthink it.
Continue coming back to the breath and your mind,
Body,
And heart will know.
Once they feel safe and grounded,
They'll know if there's something you're ready to feel,
Process,
And perhaps let go of.
Let's take a nice deep breath here.
Big exhale out.
Big exhale out.
Is there something you are ready to feel,
To process,
To integrate?
Is there something you are ready to feel,
To process,
To integrate?
If you notice your breath gets shallow and your heart begins to guard itself,
That can be a good indication that there's something there.
Now maybe you know exactly what it is and maybe you don't and it's more of an energetic feeling.
Your body is deeply intelligent and your body will know if there are things it's ready to let go of.
Remember you can go really slow and gentle here.
Let's take a nice deep breath in.
Big exhale out.
Staying kind,
Being patient,
Going gently.
I'm going to ask the question again.
Is there something you are ready to feel,
Process,
Or integrate?
This is our last song this morning.
I'm going to stay quiet and allow you,
Your mind,
Your body,
Your beautiful heart,
To have some time together.
Bravo,
Dear artist.
Bravo,
Dear creator.
We made it to the end of another meditation and for that I'm so grateful.
For those that are joining us live at the artist's morning,
I'm going to put 20 minutes on the clock,
Share a journaling prompt,
And allow us to continue this exploration and to see if there's more that is ready to be felt,
Processed,
And integrated into our systems,
Into our lives.
Of course,
If you're catching us on a replay,
You can do the same.
Put some time on your clock,
Get your journal,
And see what's here and ready to be expressed through you.
Real quick before we close this meditation,
I just want to send a special shout out to the artist's morning community,
Friends and family in this community who have reached out with support to my partner Lillian and I in this very special moment in our lives.
Thank you for your love.
Thank you for your support.
It really does take a community,
A village,
To raise a child and we have one of the most amazing villages and communities on the planet.
So thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you.
My name is Darius and I'll see you next time.
