Hidden Secrets Meditation (Free Your Hidden Parts)
We all have parts of ourselves that we choose not to share with the world. This meditation/visualization is an opportunity, an invitation, to connect with those parts. It is my belief that it's better to live with an open heart that is hurt than a closed heart that seems safe. If you're open to it, let's create some space for those parts of us that don't get seen, our hidden secrets. Important note: This is between you and yourself. Go slow. Be gentle and kind.

Good morning and welcome to the artist morning.
My name is Darius and I'm so grateful that you and I get this time this morning.
Today's meditation is going to be a bit different.
For some it might feel challenging and I want to say that you can always slow down.
Today's meditation will be one part meditation,
One part guided visualization as we explore parts of our lives that are hidden.
Often these hidden parts are connected to pain and hurt.
Often these hidden parts are connected to some sort of embarrassment,
Shame,
Or shyness.
And sometimes these hidden parts are connected to a deep longing,
A desire,
Even a dream.
My intention with guiding you into these hidden parts are not to bring drama or pain into your life but rather to create a safe container this morning for us to gently,
Lovingly,
Supportively bring more of ourselves to the world.
A really important note is this meditation is just between you and yourself.
You don't need to actually share these hidden parts of you with anyone and if you choose to that's okay too.
Only guidance is go slow,
Be gentle,
Be kind to yourself.
Let's begin our meditation.
If your eyes are open I'd like to ask you to gently close them now as we go inwards together.
Let's take a moment to arrive now.
Connect with your breath,
Your attention to the awareness of your breath from the moment it touches your nostrils,
Your tongue,
Your throat,
And just follow it down.
Down your throat,
Your lungs,
Into your heart,
Down into your belly.
Maybe your breath is deep this morning and you can even follow it down your body,
Your legs,
And your feet.
Even if your breath is shallow this morning I want you to know these intentional breaths are nourishing your body.
If you notice there is a tiny dance happening inside you.
It's really subtle as you breathe in and out.
Your lungs and belly rise up and fall.
Your digestion is moving.
Your blood is flowing.
You dear artist,
You are alive.
See if you can tap into this tiny dance inside you.
Your body chooses to stay perfectly still.
Not a problem.
The tiny dance is happening with or without you.
Your body wants to move a little bit,
A gentle sway.
Maybe your hands have a desire to touch a part of your body.
Thank you body.
Thank you beautiful,
Brilliant,
Bold.
Thank you body for being here.
I want you to just place your hands down by your side wherever they'd like to rest.
Let's take one deep breath here together.
Breathing in,
Hold at the top.
Bring your shoulders up,
Holding,
Holding.
One more sip,
One more breath.
One more breath and let it all go,
Dropping your shoulders too.
Well done dear artist.
As we get ready to move to the next phase of our practice,
A gentle reminder that you can go slow,
That you can't get this wrong,
And that you can come back to this meditation as many times as you'd like.
I want you to imagine you are sitting on a floor,
A comfortable floor,
With a pillow underneath you and you are meditating as much as you can.
I want you to do your best to keep your heart space,
Keep your stomach,
Keep your solar plexus,
Keep the front side of your body open and soft.
Notice with different prompts and different things I say,
As your heart begins to close,
As you begin to harden.
Practice keeping our hearts open and softening.
Believe it is better to live with an open heart that is hurt than a closed than a closed heart that seems safe.
The safety,
My opinion,
Is an illusion because our hearts are not meant to be isolated.
Our hearts are meant to connect.
Let's take one more deep breath here together,
Breathing in,
Softening our heart space and letting it go.
Taking a moment to connect with your heart.
Now I want you to imagine behind you,
Behind your back,
There is an envelope with a piece of paper in it with a secret,
A hidden part of you on this piece of paper.
Now some secrets are clear and some secrets I call soft secrets.
These aren't necessarily lies.
These are parts of ourselves that we choose not to share with the world.
Now if you're open to it,
I'd like to ask you to bring this piece of paper from behind your back,
Bring it in front of you,
In your hands,
Sitting in your lap.
Not open to this,
You do not need to do this.
And remember you can't get this wrong.
This is practice.
This is a laboratory.
This is an opportunity for us to get stronger in a safe container and to make space for parts of us that don't get seen.
Can you feel the energy of this secret,
This hidden part of you in your hands?
This hidden part can be anything,
A longing,
A desire,
A moment you are embarrassed of,
A feeling you have that you don't let anyone know by too hard.
Whatever comes up first,
Place that on the piece of paper.
And maybe this is your edge and this is where you stop.
It's just feeling the secret for yourself,
Bringing it to your own awareness from the back of you to the front of you.
If you notice your breath gets shallow,
If your heart slowly starts to contract,
Today's invitation is to do your best to stay open.
Even if it hurts,
Are you able to keep your heart open through the hurt?
If you feel open and ready for the next level of this practice,
There is an opportunity to share this secret with somebody.
There is a space in front of you.
If you feel ready,
Somebody in your life will appear in front of you now.
Notice if your heart starts to contract and close.
Can you stay open?
Can you stay soft,
Even through the hurt?
And this is our last song this morning,
Dear artist.
This is the last stretch.
If you feel open,
If you feel resourced,
If you feel able,
You can pass this secret to the person in front of you and feel.
And if you have a longing to have a longing to change something about the reaction,
Let that go.
They will react how they will react.
Our practice today is,
Are you able to keep your heart open?
If you feel ready to share this secret with the person in front of you,
I'm going to stay quiet and allow you to do so now.
Before we bring our meditation to an end,
Let's take a moment to have some gratitude for our hearts.
Maybe your heart stayed open.
Maybe it closed immediately.
Whatever your experience was,
It was a very brave thing you said yes to this morning and I'm deeply grateful for you and your heart.
Let's place one hand on our hearts and just cuddle and love and soothe our hearts.
Thank you dear heart.
Thank you for being here now.
Let's take one last deep breath here.
For those of you that are joining us live at the artist morning,
I'm going to put 20 minutes on the clock and allow you,
If you're open to it,
To explore these hidden parts of you,
These secret parts of you a little bit more.
If you're catching us on a replay,
Of course you can do the same.
Put 20 minutes on your own clock and see what's alive and ready to be expressed through you.
Thank you for meditating with me.
My name is Darius and I will see you next time.

Weird to bring up my conscious acts that I hid. But yes they’re there. I imagined a friend who would be very safe to tell. I realize that I would not want to tell anyone else. It almost feels like cheating. I suppose unconscious events would be a different platform. Thank you Darius! This was compassionately guided.

At the moment this feels like the best meditation I've experienced on Insight Timer. It gave me a taste of emotional freedom that I feel could allow me to let go of internal struggle and become my best self. It's a very important starting place for me, and I will return to it often to see where it leads.
