A Kabbalistic contemplative body scan, focusing on the quality of Chesed or Loving Oneness. As we explore our relationship with Loving Oneness in each moment, we will bring our attention to each of the Sefirot and their corresponding places in our body, and we will learn about what is happening inside us, physically and spiritually. Sefirot are energy centers, like chakras. Kaballah teaches that they are also gateways, through which the Infinite One (Ein Sof) radiates Divine energy into existence, thereby revealing Itself and creating everything. Together, the Sefirot form the Tree of Life, a map of the Divine, and of all existence, which also provides a map for understanding the complete human being. Welcome to this Kabbalistic Meditation on the Sefirah or Quality of Chesed,

Loving Oneness.

Find a comfortable position,

Balanced between relaxation and alertness,

With the spine comfortably upright.

When you're ready,

Close your eyes.

Bring your attention to what's going on inside your body.

Let yourself feel and notice physical sensations,

Whatever else is arising.

Each Sefirah,

Including Chesed,

Is a gateway for Divine energy and relates to an emotional way of being and also a place in our body.

Chesed,

Loving oneness,

Relates to the right arm and right shoulder.

So let's bring our awareness to that place in our body and let ourselves notice whatever is going on there.

We learn in Kabbalah that the Sefirot,

These qualities or gateways for Divine energy,

Only exist in relationship to the ultimate oneness they channel and to each other.

So when we explore each Sefirah,

Starting with Chesed in this meditation,

We explore it in relationship to each of the Sefirot,

To all of the qualities,

Which each map onto a certain place in our body as well as a certain kind of emotional reality.

So let's begin exploring the relationship first of all between Chesed and itself.

Chesed,

Sheba Chesed,

The loving oneness of loving oneness.

And this relates to pure,

Unconditional,

Overflowing mother love.

The very first impulse of creation,

The love of a creator who simply wants to give and share abundant,

Overflowing love.

Let's ask ourselves how open we are to receiving that pure,

Unconditional love that the creator wants to give us.

And notice what arises for us when we consider that quality.

Notice whatever physical sensations,

Emotions or thoughts arise when we consider this abundant,

Unconditional love.

And we prepare to transition to the next aspect of Chesed,

The next aspect of loving oneness,

Which is Gevurah,

Boundaries or restraint inside Chesed.

Gevurah Sheba Chesed.

Gevurah Sheba Chesed,

The boundaries of loving oneness relates to the very first thing that the creator did following its impulse to give and share and love.

According to Lurianic Kabbalah,

The first act of the creator was Simpson,

Contraction,

Creating a part of existence,

Empty so to speak,

Of itself.

Where there could be beings with their own identities,

With their own free will,

Not completely saturated with the loving oneness,

But free to act as they choose to do.

Gevurah,

Boundaries or restraint,

Relates to the left arm and left shoulder.

As we check in with that part of our body and consider the relationship between our right arm and shoulder and the left arm and shoulder,

Consider our relationship to boundaries in love,

To boundaries in relationship.

Do we give space to others?

Do we allow space for ourselves?

Do we let there be mystery?

Do we allow space for the unknown to emerge in others and in ourselves?

And notice whatever arises in you when you bring your awareness to the connection between those places in your body and when you consider these questions.

And we prepare to transition to the next aspect of Chesed,

Which is Tiferet,

Meaning harmony or balance or beauty.

Tiferet Sheba Chesed,

The harmony or beauty of loving oneness.

And Tiferet relates to our heart.

As we bring our awareness to our heart,

Consider the relationship between the heart and the right arm and shoulder.

Consider,

Is the love that we feel and that we channel balanced?

Is it balanced between that unconditional,

Overflowing love of Chesed and the boundary,

Restrained,

Disciplined love of Gevurah?

Do we achieve a harmonious synthesis in our heart of those qualities?

Do we notice what arises in us when we bring our awareness to the relationship between those places when we consider these questions?

And we'll prepare to transition to the next quality of Chesed,

Netzach,

Meaning endurance,

Perseverance and triumph.

And Netzach relates to our right leg,

Our right hip.

And as we bring our awareness to that place and consider the relationship between it and our right arm and our right shoulder,

We consider our own qualities of perseverance and determination.

When it comes to letting the loving oneness that we are gifted with manifest in our lives,

What are we prepared to do to let the oneness of life win out through us?

How determined,

How consistent are we in letting that loving oneness flow through us and do what it needs to do in the world?

And notice whatever arises in you when you bring your awareness to the connection between those places in your body and when you consider these questions.

And we prepare to transition to the next aspect of Chesed,

Which is Hod,

Meaning gratitude,

Humility and acknowledgement.

Hod relates to our left leg and our left hip.

As we bring our awareness to that place and let ourselves feel fully whatever's going on there,

We feel the connection also between that place and our right arm and right shoulder.

And we consider our quality of Hod in letting loving kindness flow through us.

Do we open in gratitude,

In surrendering,

In acknowledgement?

Do we let ourselves be a vessel for something greater than us?

And we notice what arises in us when we bring our awareness to the relationship between those places and when we consider these questions.

And we prepare to transition to the next aspect of Chesed,

Which is Yasod,

Meaning foundation or integrity.

And Yasod relates to the male genitalia for those who have and to the root of the spine for those who don't.

And as we bring our awareness to that place,

We let ourselves feel fully whatever arises in us when we do.

And we let ourselves feel the relationship between that place and our right arm and our right shoulder.

And we consider the quality of sharing our Chesed,

Of letting loving oneness flow through us without attempting to manipulate it or control it.

And knowing that everything we experience in life is a manifestation of that loving oneness and that we do not own any of it.

And that we are here to channel it and share it the best we can.

And notice whatever arises in you when you bring your awareness to the connection between those places in your body and when you consider these questions.

And we prepare to transition to the final aspect of Chesed,

Which is Malchut,

Meaning sovereignty or integration.

And Malchut manifests in the womb for those who have or in the soles of the feet for those who don't.

And as we bring our awareness to that place in our body,

Letting ourselves feel fully whatever is happening there.

And letting ourselves feel also the connection between that place and our right arm and right shoulder.

We consider how does loving oneness manifest through me?

What is the new reality that I am giving birth to as I let Chesed flow through me,

Through everything I say and do into the world?

And we notice what arises in us when we bring our awareness to the relationship between those places when we consider these questions.

Take as long as you need to complete the practice for yourself.

And when you are ready,

Very gradually let yourself come back to your regular way of being in your body.

By wiggling your fingers and toes very gently and very slowly opening your eyes,

Tiny crack at a time.

Thank you for listening to this Kapilastri meditation on the quality of Chesed.

I hope that you found it valuable and I look forward to hearing any questions or suggestions that you have.

I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.
