This is a forgiveness meditation.
It's aimed at those that are suffering with stress and anxiety at the moment,
But can be catered for anything.
It's a practice in becoming aware of just how truly incomparable and amazing we are.
Resilient.
So get yourself comfortable.
Whether you want to sit or lie down,
This is up to you.
Importantly,
Relax.
Relax into your sitting posture.
Relax into your lying posture.
Softening your shoulders and your jaw.
Allowing your eyes to close if you want to.
And become aware of the fact that you are sitting or lying there.
Not really focused on anything in particular.
Just those sense of you being supported by the cushion,
The couch,
The bed,
The pillow,
Wherever you are.
Just that simple sense of being here.
No effort.
Just resting.
Just aware.
Just begin relaxing the head,
The forehead.
Working your way down through the body to the eyes,
The eye sockets,
The nose,
The cheeks and the mouth.
Relaxing the tongue,
The chin,
The neck.
Allowing that relaxation just to melt through the shoulders.
The way down the body,
The torso,
The upper back,
Mid back,
Lower back.
Just allowing yourself to relax and soften.
Relaxing the arms all the way down to the fingertips.
Relaxing the hips,
Relaxing your upper legs,
Knees and lower legs.
Relaxing your feet and toes.
And just letting the whole body relax.
And even now if you are not feeling relaxed,
Bringing a gentle acceptance to that.
Just recognizing that you aren't perfectly relaxed yet and that that is okay.
Because in that acceptance the relaxation process has already begun.
So just rest a few moments now and take three big deep breaths together.
So breathing in.
And breathing out.
And breathing in.
And breathing out.
And breathing in one more time.
And breathing out.
And then just allowing the breath go back into its normal rhythm again.
Now please try and imagine you stood in front of you with open arms.
If you have any difficulty visualizing,
Just remembering yourself in some way.
And set the intention in your mind that this is what you can see.
You stood in front of you with open arms.
You stand in front of you,
You take this embrace and say to yourself,
I wish you love and happiness.
And I forgive you for being anxious and stressed.
I forgive you for putting me down about it.
I forgive you for feeling sad about it.
Please be patient with me.
I know I will get better.
Everything will be okay.
You never have no one.
You always will have me.
I forgive you for feeling guilty.
I forgive you for being impatient.
I forgive you for hurting.
And I forgive you for being emotional.
It is okay to be upset.
I love you.
You are so very important.
You are truly amazing.
Incomparable.
I can do it.
Anxiety is like breath.
It comes,
It stays and then it goes.
I can realize that just like my breath,
It changes in every moment.
I can realize that just like my breath flows out of me,
So will this anxious,
This stressed feeling.
I can realize that these feelings are not permanent.
I remember my happy times and these will come again soon.
This stress,
This anxiety,
This sensation,
It is not me.
It's not the true me.
I know me.
As I breathe in,
I breathe in calm.
As I breathe out,
I smile.
As I breathe in,
I breathe in calm.
And as I breathe out,
I smile.
As I breathe in,
I breathe calmness into my body.
As I breathe out,
I smile.
And before we finish,
I wanted to offer a short quote from Elizabeth Kubler-Oss.
The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat,
Have known suffering,
Known struggle,
Known loss and have found their way out of the depths.
These persons have an appreciation,
A sensitivity and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion,
Gentleness and deep loving concern.
Beautiful people do not just happen.
And as you open up your eyes,
Just recognizing this incomparableness,
This amazingness that is you,
That the human spirit is incredibly powerful,
We just forget sometimes.
Have an amazing rest of your day.
Thank you.
