When was the last time you asked yourself,

What if?

If it's been a minute,

This practice is an opportunity to explore some things you may not be paying conscious attention to,

But that can have a profound effect on how you experience life.

To begin,

Settle into a space where you feel grounded,

Where you feel supported.

This may be sitting,

Or lying down,

Or even some easy,

Soft movement.

Anything works,

As long as you can sense your body connecting with,

And being supported by the ground.

This exploration includes some focus on the breath,

But if your breath is not a safe place for you right now,

For whatever reason,

Maybe try bringing your focus to the part or parts of your body that is touching the ground.

Whatever part of you that is grounded,

Focus on that,

And on what kind of softening might happen once your focus is resting there.

Settle into your grounded space.

Investing in this connection will feed your ability to explore.

You're grounding down,

So you can open up,

And go with the flow of where this exploration takes you,

Without feeling uprooted.

Throughout this meditation,

You're going to explore some things about the way you're experiencing yourself,

And the world.

These explorations are going to start with the words,

What if.

You can use this what if framing to uncover,

Discover,

And rediscover things which are already true.

You can use it to open yourself to possibility.

Wherever you're meeting these what ifs right now,

Let it happen.

Let's explore.

Start by taking some gentle,

Attentive breaths.

Don't try to do anything with your breath,

Just notice what is happening naturally.

Nothing is urgent.

Come to this in your own time.

This time is for you.

It already belongs to you.

Start exactly where you are,

And reach for that unlimited imaginative space,

That space where curiosity lives.

Breathe in,

And breathe out.

As you breathe in,

What if it's effortless?

You're not directing anything,

You're just letting it happen.

How does the air feel as it moves through you effortlessly?

As you breathe out,

What if it's a hug?

You've opened yourself up to this effortless flow of air,

And now you're processing what that is and drawing back into this hug,

Into yourself.

What if you are your safe space?

What if you trust yourself?

Let your sense of self expand into the space,

And let that space expand.

What if this experience of yourself,

Your awareness expanding,

And the space around you expanding is a cycle?

What if it's a self-fulfilling prophecy?

What if you are far more than anyone outside of you will ever see?

At the same time,

What if you are enough?

What if there is nothing for you to do in this moment?

Don't force anything,

Not even understanding.

Allow everything to be easy.

What if it is easy?

What if it inspires something in you?

And what if you,

As you are now,

Can inspire something in others?

All these what-ifs are true.

Accept that in your mind,

Feel it in your body.

Let the surprises come to you,

These moments of inspiration,

Of brilliance,

Of connection,

Of delight.

Let them be a surprise,

And let them change how you're perceiving yourself and the space and relationships around you,

Your interiority and your exteriority,

Even if it's just for a minute or two.

What happens to the way you're operating if you embrace those little moments of possibility?

And to complete the story,

And in the same moment,

To start it all over again,

Return to the you that faces the day.

Bring with you that spark you felt at that moment of possibility,

And return.
