Last day contemplation.
The purpose of this Buddhist meditation is to gently lean the awareness into the impermanence of life,
The true nature of the human experience.
And in doing so,
Help us to return back to clear presence and full gratitude and acknowledgement of being alive and of the blessings that are held within our lives.
Settle your body into Shavasana.
Allow your body to lie long and flat against the ground.
Wiggle your alignment so you can feel a line between the tailbone,
The spinal column and the back of the head.
Legs hip-width apart and the feet naturally flopping to the sides and the arms a little way out from the body,
Palms facing up.
Allow your body to surrender into Shavasana.
With the belly and the face and the palms exposed,
Your only choice is to surrender.
Feel the weight of your body against the ground.
Feel the subtle magnetic force of the gravity drawing you towards the earth.
Be soft.
Be heavy.
Be here,
Now.
As you're lying there,
The fluids and organs and soft tissues of your body are gently settling back towards the ground,
Drawn by the gravity as well.
And this is allowing space for your airways to breathe.
Feel the breath lengthening and deepening,
Becoming easy and natural.
Feel the oxygen and the energy in every in-breath as you draw it into your body.
Feel the release in the out-breath as you breathe out.
Connecting your awareness to the energy in the breath activates the breath and stimulates your energy body.
Sense the life force,
The prana,
Moving through all of the nadis of the body,
Spinning the chakras,
Filling you with the very subtle vibration of life itself.
As these statements of truth wash through you,
Keep your awareness pegged in the feelings and sensations of the energy field of your body.
Everyone must die.
I could die today.
My lifespan is decreasing continually.
Death will come regardless of what I do.
My life expectancy is uncertain.
There are many causes of death.
My body is fragile and temporary.
Wealth cannot help me.
My loved ones cannot help me.
My body cannot help.
I could die today.
Everyone must die.
I could die today.
My lifespan is decreasing continually.
Death will come regardless of what I do.
My life expectancy is uncertain.
There are many causes of death.
My body is fragile and temporary.
Wealth cannot help me.
My loved ones cannot help.
My body cannot help.
I could die today.
And as these statements of truth circle in your awareness,
In your energy field,
In your body,
Feel your heart open to the uniqueness of this moment.
Feel your heart open to the treasure of your life.
Feel attachments to avenge the past,
Pettiness,
Dissolve.
Feel the eternal nature of your spirit.
Come into clarity and stillness.
Be free.
And our practice of last day contemplation has concluded.
