Transferral of consciousness for the dying,
A practice of service.
Take a moment to adjust your posture ready for meditation.
You want to be seated with an upright spine.
Wiggle your base so you feel an evenness in your sit bones and ensure your feet have been evenly placed on the ground or on a support underneath them so both the spine is supported and the feet are grounded.
Now closing your eyes and take a moment to get your bearings.
Here you are feeling called to serve.
Here you are in the safety of your space and sensing and knowing immense suffering around the world and here you are feeling a deep desire for freedom,
For forgiveness,
For hope,
For the many people on their own in the world currently knowing that they're going to die.
These are your bearings.
Now for a few rounds we will practice fourfold breath to even out your nervous system and allow your mind-body energy complex to move into a deep sense of present awareness and arrival.
So to begin with breathing in through the nose through the whole practice take a lovely big full inhalation filling the belly and the chest and release the breath.
Allow all of the air to leave your body fully draining to the last little bit.
Take a natural breath in and out and now breathing in for one two three four hold two three four out two three four hold two three four in two three four hold two three four out two three four hold two three four in two three four hold two three four out two three four hold two three four in two three four hold two three four out two three four hold two three four in two three four hold two three four out two three four hold two three four in two three four hold two three four out two three four hold two three four now take another big inhalation from the belly all the way up to collarbone and hold the breath and release in a long smooth stream of air allow your natural breathing and rhythm to re-establish this breathing practice alone has balanced the activity in your nervous system feel into that balance it is smooth to brainwaves feel the calm in your mental activity it has released naturally occurring DMT into your bloodstream which is now actively working with your pineal gland enabling you to vision for this practice notice the energy in your body your hands your feet and bring your awareness to the central column in your spine the energy circuit of Sushumna have the feeling now that you're breathing up and down this central column of your body use your awareness to carve open the space there allowing vital life force to run up and down the spine as you breathe in breathe all the way up to the crown and then follow the exhalation all the way down to the base breathing up and down breathing up and down breathing up and down you have arrived I want you now to peer into the vast space behind your closed eyes see it as an immense endless sky blue clear alive this is your field of awareness Chidakas the field where you can make change the field of healing it is a holy space sacred and it is yours and it connects you with the source of all the divine the light the love within that field now I want you to gently hold the intention of who it is you were serving in this practice right now where are they in the world the children the elderly the vulnerable who is of the highest need allow that pathway to open within your field of awareness you may have an impression of a child or a mother an elderly person it may be the impression of a group or the impression may come as a feeling of fear or regret however it forms within your field of awareness gather them in close to you with great love and compassion put your arms around them or around the feeling or around the group and now raise your inner sight to the highest realm of your sky field and bring into your awareness the divine being the one that you know the one that you feel in your moments of awe and wonder loving kindness and compassion allow it to take a form within your awareness whether that be a bright light a creature even or an archetype an avatar or a saint these are all refractions of the one divine source of all being keep your awareness pegged until you feel the presence before you within you enveloping you focus your mind your heart your spirit on the presence that you have invoked and now feel into the prayer the blessing of poha through your blessing grace and guidance through the power of the light that streams through you may all negative karma destructive emotions obscurations and blockages be purified and removed so may they know themselves as forgiven for all of the harm they may have thought and done so may they accomplish poha and die a good and peaceful death and through the triumph of their death may they be able to benefit all beings living or dead and now imagine that this presence of light that you have invoked is so moved by the vibration in your heart that it responds and sends out love and compassion in a stream of rays of light from their heart they touch and penetrate the ones in your arms they're cleansed and purified of all karma all destructive emotions all obscurations the causes of their suffering see and feel them totally immersed in light so they are now completely purified and healed by the light streaming from the presence their very bodies themselves created by karma now dissolve into light the bodies of light that you are now holding soar up into the sky and merge inseparably with the blissful presence of divine light so so very gently now bring your awareness back to your body and surroundings become aware of the movement of your breath flowing in and out of your body and before you come back fully take a moment to observe how you feel how has the transfer of consciousness affected your own personal state so gently gently become aware of the soundscape around you bring a bit of movement to your body in whichever way works for you you can wiggle your toes and your fingers you can rotate the head on the shoulders in one direction lovely big circles and then around in the opposite direction you can gently twist the spine by turning the core of the body to the right and slowly and gently turning the face to look over your left shoulder so then bring the core of your body around to the left and slowly and gently look over your right shoulder come back to center rub your hands together and generate some warmth with the friction of the rubbing and put warm hands over the eyes covering your face and allow your awareness to follow that warmth back into your face back into time back into your world and when you're ready you can open your eyes so our practice of poha has now concluded
