Gassho is a key meditation of Reiki practitioners to run the Reiki through the hands. Whether you are Reiki attuned or not, this track will give you a felt experience of the Taoist principle, Yi Dao Qi Dao - where you anchor your present undistorted attention…is where life force flows. It is a gently guided visualization that generates a concentration of vital life force in the hands, felt as heat and vibration. A wonderfully simple technique that illuminates the power of the mind as a director of energy. The beautiful music was composed and recorded by Sam Joole.

Gassho Reiki Meditation Whether you're attuned to Reiki or not,

This beautiful meditation enables an experience of the Taoist principle,

I-Dao,

Chi-Dao.

Which means,

Where you anchor your fully present and undistorted attention,

Energy will flow there and concentrate as well.

And in Gassho meditation,

That anchor point is your hands.

Seated upright in a stable,

Even posture.

Shoulders down and back to enable large,

Expansive breaths.

And when you're ready,

Bring your hands together in prayer position at the heart.

And take a moment to get your bearings on this beautiful experience.

A felt sense of the dynamics of your consciousness as patterned energy.

Breathing rhythmically,

Evenly and deeply.

And hold within your perception the idea that you're creating a triangle between your awareness,

Your breath and your hands.

Moving all of your awareness now to your right hand.

Sense the skin on the back of the right hand open to the air.

Feel into the tiny bones that create the structure of your right hand.

Feel into your thumb,

The large knuckle of the thumb,

The thumbnail.

Feel into the index finger,

The large knuckle.

Feel its length.

Feel into the index fingernail.

Move your attention to the middle finger.

Follow its length from the base of the finger to the tip.

Feel into the ring finger similarly.

The tiny bones within it giving it strength and structure.

The knuckles.

The fingernail.

And finally,

Feel into the little finger of your right hand,

Providing balance and grip.

Finer still.

Sense within your awareness the fingernail of the little finger.

Taking in now the whole of your right hand.

The whole of your right hand enlivened by your attention.

You may be able to feel the nail beds humming under the fingernails of your right hand.

And whilst connected with your left hand in prayer position,

The right hand now will feel somehow larger or even more spongy.

Now moving your attention to your left hand.

Feel the cool air moving across the skin on the back of your left hand.

Feel into the bone structure of the left hand.

The knuckles.

The fine bones that run from the wrist to those knuckles.

And run your attention along the length of each finger.

The left thumb.

Feel into the left thumb fingernail.

Run your attention up the left index finger to the tip of the finger.

Feel the fingernail.

Feeling into the left middle finger.

The knuckles,

The joints,

The middle fingernail.

Feel its length compared to the other fingers on the left hand.

Moving to your left ring finger.

More delicate,

Finer.

Feel the knuckles and the joints.

To the tip of the finger and the ring fingernail.

And finally to the smallest finger of your left hand.

Its little finger.

Feel the finer bones.

Its agility.

Its shorter length.

The little fingernail.

Expanding your awareness now to take in the whole of the left hand.

The whole of the left hand joined together with the whole of the right hand in prayer mudra at your heart.

I want you now to move your awareness to the inside touch points of the hands.

Feel the cavern that the palms create when they come together.

Feel the parts of the hands that touch each other and the parts that don't.

You'll be able to feel a sensation of humming,

Rising energy between the hands.

I want you now to focus all of your attention to the touch point between the two middle fingers.

Feel the fleshy parts of the fingers touching each other.

Make the sensation of this touch point your entire world.

Have the feeling that all of the vital life force in every breath you take is racing to this touch point and concentrating there.

See if you can sense your exhalation,

The air streaming over that touch point of the two middle fingers.

And for the next few breaths gently anchor your awareness in this place.

Expanding your awareness now to take in both hands in prayer mudra at the heart.

You have the sensation that the hands have somehow merged.

Two hands,

One mudra.

Where the left hand starts and finishes and the right hand starts and finishes has now become blurred.

You can feel heat accumulating between the hands in the space that's created by the two curved palms coming together.

It's as if you're holding a sphere of energy safely enclosed at the centre of the prayer position.

With every breath this sphere of energy becomes more felt,

Enlivened.

It has substance.

What you are feeling is the accumulation of vital life force which has followed your undistorted attention to the hands.

And when you're ready now,

Place your right hand over your heart,

Your left hand onto the belly and feel that vital life force diffusing immediately as soothing heat back into your body.

And our practice of gassho meditation is now complete.
