Welcome to today's meditation,

A much needed break from work to rest your mind and gently stretch your body.

My name is Dani Stewart and I'll be your guide.

You can do this meditation at any time,

Whether you're at your desk or between meetings.

You might like to think of this practice as an opportunity to mentally press control alt delete.

After sitting,

It's good to wake up the body with some gentle movement.

You're welcome to move any way that feels good to you.

A bell will sound at the end of this meditation.

Let's begin in a standing position or seated if you'd prefer.

Feel your feet on the floor,

Your arms hanging loosely by your sides or gently resting in your lap.

You may like to close your eyes now or lower your gaze.

Allow your breathing to settle into its natural rhythm.

Like waves gently lapping the shore.

Notice the rise and fall of your chest with each inhalation and exhalation.

Let the muscles behind your eyes to gently soften.

Offer yourself a smile and as you release it,

Notice any tension in your cheeks falling away.

Perhaps you might like to shrug your shoulders up to your ears on the in-breath and release them on the out-breath.

Inhale shrug.

Exhale let go.

Take a moment now to move your body into any position that feels good for you.

Easing any tightness from being at your computer.

Notice which muscles draw your attention.

Is the quality of the movement stiff or smooth?

Acknowledge any thoughts that may be arising.

Allowing them to come and go as they do.

Knowing that you can reconnect with them when you log back on.

Allow yourself the gift of focusing on your body for this brief time.

You may like to introduce some slow rotation to your wrists.

Clockwise and then anti-clockwise in your own time.

Notice any sounds you may be able to hear.

What is the quality of these sounds?

Are they distant or could you reach out and touch them?

Feel your feet again.

Allow your breathing to fall back into its natural rhythm.

Take a moment to feel any subtle changes to your face,

Shoulders,

Wrists.

Notice what feels different.

Do you feel lighter,

More at ease?

Bring your awareness back to the room.

Thank yourself for taking this break.

Once the bell sounds,

You're free to awaken your eyes and return to your desk a little more relaxed and focused.

I enjoyed this 'walking meditation' style, and will return to this to re-set and re-ground during those particulary busy working days.
