Welcome.
This is a simple couples meditation designed to create more intimacy,
More compassion,
Open communication,
And fostering feelings of love for one another.
This is particularly good as a general practice to stay connected with one another.
And it's also good if you're repairing,
Say from a conflict.
And you need to either take a break from that conflict and just acknowledge that even though you're having a disagreement,
You still love one another.
Or maybe you just resolved that conflict and you want to reconnect.
So I'd like you to get comfortable facing one another.
You could be sitting on a couch,
Cross legged,
Face to face.
Or you could be sitting in two different chairs facing one another,
Or even sitting on the floor.
The important thing is you're both sitting relatively the same way,
Face to face.
It is your choice if you choose to rest your hands in your lap,
Or if you decide that you want to reach out and hold your partner's hand throughout this exercise.
And I want you to take a moment so that you can both settle in and get comfortable.
In general,
You'll want to sit tall,
As if there's a string almost suspending you from the ceiling,
Drawing the shoulders back and lifting the heart as if you're sharing your heart with your partner.
So let's begin.
And like you both to close your eyes.
Take a moment to breathe in and out through your nose finding a relaxed pace for you.
And I just want you to become aware of your partner's presence.
Perhaps you're close enough where you can sense their energy and feel their presence even with your eyes closed.
Perhaps you can hear them breathing.
Or if they're wearing perfume or cologne,
You're picking up their scent.
I'm going to be quiet for a moment and just become aware of your partner's presence.
Now,
I'd like you to imagine that you're breathing in and out through your heart space.
Just breathe in through the heart and out through the heart.
And with your eyes still closed,
Call to mind the feeling of love.
Now,
For some people,
Just saying love and breathing through the heart is enough.
For others,
You might need to call to mind your love for your partner,
Or maybe something that you've done together in the past,
Where you are really connected.
So stay here for a moment breathing in and out through the heart space,
Cultivating that feeling of love.
Now,
This time,
I'd like you to imagine that as you inhale through your heart space,
Your partner is sending you love.
And as you exhale through the heart space,
You're sending love back to your partner.
For some people,
It's helpful to imagine a color like the energy passing back and forth,
Whatever works for you.
But it's a closed circuit.
Inhale,
Feeling that love.
Exhale,
Sending it back.
It might also be helpful to think of connecting truly heart to heart.
Now,
Go ahead and relax your mind,
Relax your breath.
Now,
Open your eyes.
And I want you to gaze into your partner's eyes.
It may feel awkward at first,
You might giggle,
You might cry.
All is okay.
Spend the next few moments gazing into each other's eyes.
Now,
Go ahead and relax your gaze.
And before you close this mindful activity,
Making a commitment in your mind and in your heart to this partnership.
Remembering to look at your partner with love,
Compassion,
Appreciation,
And gratitude.
Thank you for joining me.
