Good morning.
Before the emails,
Before the to-do list,
Before the demands of the day begin pulling at you,
You have chosen to start with presence,
With intention,
With gratitude.
This is a powerful choice.
The ancient teachers understood something that modern science is only now confirming.
Gratitude literally changes the brain.
It shifts our nervous system from a state of lack and anxiety to a state of abundance and calm.
But gratitude isn't just a feeling,
It's a practice.
And mantra gives us a way to embody that practice,
To make it physical,
To make it felt.
Today,
We'll work with a beautiful Sanskrit invocation,
Om Dhanyavada Namaha.
Dhanyavad means gratitude or thankfulness.
Namaha means I bow or I honor.
So this mantra translates as I bow to the spirit of gratitude or I honor thankfulness itself.
By chanting these words,
We are not just thinking grateful thoughts.
We are tuning our entire being to the frequency of appreciation.
Let's prepare.
Sit comfortably,
Spine gently upright.
Place your hands on your thighs,
Palms facing up in a gesture of receiving.
Close your eyes,
Take a full breath in,
Feeling your lungs completely and release with a sigh.
Feel your body waking up,
Feeling the life in you.
Your heart beating,
Your breath flowing.
Another day has been given to you.
Before we begin chanting,
Bring to mind three things that you are grateful for this morning.
They can be simple.
The warmth of your bed,
The gift of another day,
Someone who loves you.
Hold these in your heart as we chant Om Dhanyavada Namaha.
Om Dhanyavada Namaha Om Dhanyavada Namaha Listen first,
Then join when ready.
Om Dhanyavada Namaha Rest in the resonance of gratitude.
Notice how your body feels right now.
Notice the quality of your mind.
This is how you can begin every morning.
Not with dread about what's ahead,
But with appreciation for what already is.
Take this feeling into your day.
Let it color your interactions.
Let it soften your reactions.
Gratitude is the lens that transforms ordinary moments into gifts.
Take one more breath.
Gently open your eyes.
May your day be filled with reasons to be thankful.
Om Dhanyavada Namaha
