The Tree of Life is a symbol that is familiar to,
And used by,
Many cultures and religions.
In Wicca,
The image of a deeply rooted tree with branches reaching skyward represents a connection between our world and the spiritual world.
This symbol illustrates the phrase,
As Above,
So Below,
That is used in many Wiccan and Pagan rituals.
The meaning is that there is an undeniable connection between us and the divine.
What occurs in one is reflected in the other.
The Tree of Life is also used to show a sense of balance.
With its branches powerfully stretching up,
And its roots anchored solidly in the earth,
It embodies continuity.
The Tree of Life shows us that,
While we are connected to our environment,
We are also maintaining our individuality.
It reminds us of the importance of peace and stability,
And,
By losing its leaves in autumn and regaining them each spring,
It is a constant symbol of rebirth.
We put the message of the Tree of Life into practice each time we respect and honor the unity of all living things,
Continue to grow spiritually,
Recognize the divine in all forms of life,
And live in harmony with the environment and those around us.
You can easily find the symbolism I mentioned in any tree you encounter.
The next time you are out in nature,
Find a tree that speaks to you with its peace.
Open yourself to this and the tree will call to you.
Once you have established contact with the tree,
Ask it what message it has for you,
And what you might learn from it.
Notice the energy of the tree and how you relate to it.
If you are able to,
Pour an offering of water at the roots of the tree as a way of giving thanks for it and the message,
Or messages,
You receive from it.
If you sense that fairies or gnomes are making their home in the tree,
Leaving an offering of honey is always a kind gesture.
Blessed Be.
