Samhain is one of eight Wiccan Sabbaths.

It is the time of the year when the veil between our world and the spirit realm is at its thinnest,

And it is the Wiccan New Year.

This is a vigil for the sacred Sabbath of Samhain.

Gathered are we to sit vigil to the Sabbath of Samhain,

The highest and most sacred day of the Wicca.

Be it known that the circle is about to be cast,

Let none be here but of their own free will.

Here at last our circle is cast with light upon the ground.

We call upon the elements to guide our magic all around.

God and Goddess,

Bless us and our right to guide us and give to all in sight.

I call you now,

Attend to me.

This is my will,

So mote it be.

Watchtowers of the East,

Air that stirs the autumn leaves and whispers to us from beyond the veil.

I do summon,

Stir,

And call you up to witness these rites and guard this circle.

Hail and welcome.

Watchtowers of the South,

Fire that brightens the path and warms the hearth.

I do summon,

Stir,

And call you up to witness these rites and guard this circle.

Hail and welcome.

Watchtowers of the West,

Water that washes away the old year and ushers in the new.

I do summon,

Stir,

And call you up to witness these rites and guard this circle.

Hail and welcome.

Watchtowers of the North,

The earth upon which our ancestors' footsteps are forever etched.

I do summon,

Stir,

And call you up to witness these rites and guard this circle.

Hail and welcome.

Mother Moon,

Provider of life itself,

Protector of the Wicca,

We ask that you will attend our circle and bless our rites.

Hail and welcome.

Father Sun,

Lord of all that's wild and free,

We ask that you attend our circle and bless our rites.

Hail and welcome.

Beloved ancestors who have crossed through the veil,

We invite you to attend our circle and bless our rites.

Hail and welcome.

And in harm none,

Do what you will.

It is the Wiccan read,

We fear no foe,

For love we show in thought and also deed.

May the stars above and the earth below bless this place and this time.

Let us all be gathered here in perfect love and perfect trust.

We consecrate one another in the names of the God and the Goddess,

Bidding us welcome into this,

Their temple.

So mote it be.

Pale glow of moonlight fixed,

Spells of magic now be twixt.

Helping hands and knowing eyes.

Incense burns and smoke doth rise.

Plume upon the mountain's crest.

Powers do we now invest to learn and teach and reap and sow and tread where only wise ones go.

By all seasons night and day,

From the old ways do not stray.

Through spirit eyes the truth is shown.

By light of moon all is known.

To the Lord and Lady,

Our ancestors and our beloved kin who have departed from this realm.

Here do we light this incense in your honor as a sign of our unending love for you.

Blessed be the memory of those who now live on in our hearts and minds.

We celebrate you at this solemn time.

So mote it be.

Samhain is not a time of mourning.

It is a time of remembrance.

We lift our hearts in celebration of those who have crossed through the veil.

The witch's new year has begun.

All hail the new year.

All hail the final harvest.

The fields have given us their bounty.

Darkness now begins to cloak the earth.

Candle of Samhain,

Beautiful and bright,

I charge thee to protect us both day and night.

I hallow you and welcome you in.

May security and blessings in this place begin.

So mote it be.

Our incense burns as the great wheel turns from light to darkness.

Beloved ancestors come forth to teach us lessons in all starkness.

The night of Samhain comes to send a message that there is no end.

We offer food and fruit of the vine to honor our ancestors and the divine.

Rising moon and falling sun,

Our inner work has just begun.

Seek bright light as you go within and welcome ye our beloved Kim.

Lady of the moon,

Be our guide.

Lady of the moon,

In you we abide.

Whisperer of wind and flow of the tide,

Lady of the moon,

In you we abide.

May this new year bring to each of us strength in the face of intimidation,

Wings as we dive into darkness to return with knowledge,

Magic in shaping the unformed into a beautiful reality.

May I be a healer to all,

An obstacle to none.

May my footprints upon this earth be interpreted by all as a journey of love and kindness.

May I always give freely,

Expecting nothing in return.

May I receive what is given to me with honest gratitude and respect.

May I see many sunsets and many rising moons and may others see that same peace when they look at me.

May I always remember to raise a goblet in celebration of good times and place that same goblet before myself when I experience moments of doubt.

May I realize that my path and the love I show to others and myself extinguishes all uncertainty.

May I raise a goblet to that as well.

We fear not darkness for we are the light.

We welcome Samhain on this sacred night.

Cold is the night and thin is the veil.

Magic and love will always prevail.

Sisters and brothers and our honored kin,

We bless one another as the wheel turns again.

We came together in love and friendship.

Let us depart the same way.

Let us spread the love we have known in this circle outward to all,

Sharing it with those we meet.

Watchtowers of the North,

Guardians of Earth,

I thank you for your presence in this circle and witnessing these rites.

Hail and farewell.

Watchtowers of the West,

Guardians of Water,

I thank you for your presence in this circle and witnessing these rites.

Hail and farewell.

Watchtowers of the South,

Guardians of Fire,

I thank you for your presence in this circle and witnessing these rites.

Hail and farewell.

Watchtowers of the East,

Guardians of Air,

I thank you for your presence in this circle and witnessing these rites.

Hail and farewell.

Guardians of the Elements,

Lord God and Lady Goddess,

We thank you for joining our circle.

We ask your blessing as you depart.

May there be peace between us now and forever.

Beloved ancestors,

We thank you for joining our circle.

Forever do you live on in us and in those yet to come.

I cast this circle out into the cosmos as a sign of my magic.

The circle is open but unbroken.

Mary,

Did we meet?

Mary,

Do we part?

And Mary,

Will we meet again?

Salve and blessings.
