Close your eyes for a moment and call to mind one of your favorite smells.

That made you smile,

Didn't it?

This is one of the many benefits of working with essential oils.

This recording will focus on essential oils from an aromatherapy standpoint.

No part of this talk is meant to give medical advice of any kind.

Before you begin working with essential oils,

I believe it's best to know what benefit you are seeking.

For example,

Some oils have scents that can be calming,

While others can be invigorating.

Knowing what you are wanting to accomplish and doing a bit of research on the front end is the best bet.

Once you have a list of the oils that have the properties you are looking for,

Pick out the ones that smell the best to you,

That resonate with you.

Perhaps you will choose three to start.

Smell them individually.

Perhaps just one of them will be what you need.

You might also decide that a blend of two or more will be even more pleasing to you.

There are many ways to work with your chosen oils.

First,

I would like to share some ways that you should not work with them.

Never consume or ingest essential oils.

And if you wish to use essential oils topically,

Do not apply the oil directly to your skin.

Diluting an essential oil with a carrier oil,

Such as aloe vera oil,

Is the only way it should be used topically.

That being said,

Essential oils don't need to be used topically at all.

Diffusers are a great way for you to enjoy the sense of your choice,

And there are an abundance of them in both local shops and online.

Some work with candles,

While others require electricity.

Choose what makes sense for you.

The goal is to make whatever room filled with an aroma that makes you happy and comfortable.

Of course,

You can sniff the scent directly from the bottle too.

In my practice,

I have found that having essential oil blends for different situations to be helpful.

For example,

I have a blend for meditation.

As soon as I smell it,

It triggers my mind that it's time for me to relax and unwind.

Similarly,

I make an essential oil blend for each season,

So that,

Even when I'm indoors,

I can be mindful of the cycles of nature.

Essential oils are wonderful when it comes to making a quick trip to your happy places.

At the beginning of this talk,

I asked you to call to mind one of your favorite smells.

I invite you to join me in a short meditation by closing your eyes and taking several deep breaths.

With each inhale,

Keep bringing that scent to your mind.

Think about where you were when you first experienced it.

Think about the joy it gave you.

Allow that scent to give you that same joy now.

Spend a few moments bringing the wonderful memories associated with it into the present.

At your own pace,

Begin to open your eyes.

As you come out of this meditation,

Know that you can connect with that scent and the joy surrounding it whenever you choose to call it mind.

The crow flies from me to thee to send the message,

Blessed be.

Namaste.
