Hello,

My name is Cori.

If you're joining me for this meditation it's because you've been feeling overstimulated,

There's too much noise,

Your surroundings are too chaotic,

You've got a lot going on and you need to take a minute to step back,

To relax and reset so that you can cope with the rest of your day or the rest of your event,

Whatever it is that you're a part of.

Preferably you're wearing earphones and you are in a space where you can close down your eyes,

If not you can leave your eyes open and just let your eyes soften and gaze off into a space.

Straighten your spine,

Slow down your breathing,

Take a minute to really feel your breath,

Pay attention to the sensation of your ribs rising up in your body as you breathe in and then slowly lowering down as you exhale.

See if you can allow your attention on that activity to start to feel a little bit hypnotic,

Repetitive.

So rising up,

Feeling the sensation of it,

Lowering down,

Feeling the sensation in that.

So you're not really focusing so much on the breath and the sensation of the breath,

You're focusing more on the feeling of your ribs lifting up and lowering down,

Lifting up and lowering down.

Enjoy this quiet or more quiet place,

Enjoy the sensation of all the hustle and bustle not being present.

If you're in the middle of a family gathering or you're in a busy place in public,

Enjoy the fact that you're in your own little retreat right now,

Retreating away from all of that busyness to just enjoy this,

The rise and fall of your ribs,

Your slower,

Calmer paced breath and the more quiet that you've created.

Adding on to that,

Just start to gently rub your thumb over the tips of your fingers.

You can just choose to do it on your first index finger,

Rubbing in circular motions the tip of your thumb and your finger together,

Feeling the sensation of your finger in the tip of your thumb,

Your skin,

The smooth sensation.

Or you can move through each one of the tips of your fingers,

Taking a few seconds on each finger,

Just doing the circular motion,

Feeling the tips of your fingers,

Going backwards and forwards,

Feeling the sensation through the tip of your thumb and then feeling the sensation through the tip of your finger,

Touching your thumb.

Again,

The movement and the repetitiveness creates that sense of hypnotic sensation,

It's soothing and calming,

Grounding because you can feel a sensation that you're focusing on in your body and that grounding sensation helps to calm your body down,

Making you feel safer,

Less anxiety and stress.

Your slow,

Relaxed breathing is helping your parasympathetic nervous system send signals to the brain,

Telling your body you're okay,

You're calmer,

More peaceful,

Everything is okay,

Feeling more like your normal self,

Less stimulated,

Calmer,

Everything is okay and you could probably go back to whatever it was that you were doing.

Come back whenever you need me.

Namaste,

My friend.

I felt overstimulated from hosting family who are in town and having to be "on" all the time, then needing to go to the office the next day. This helped me calm down for a moment.

Loved the calming voice. The thumb to finger movement. I actually will use that more often & of Course focusing on ribs moving was instead of the breath was a great addition to my normal Breathing focus Thank you! πŸ™πŸΎ HappyπŸŽ„ Holidays

I found this very soothing and calming. It helped me to settle myself after a very busy few days that have left me feeling frazzled and off balance. I really appreciated having the specific focus on my ribs moving rather than just a general instruction to focus on the breath. All guided with a calm, clear voice, this is a practice I will definitely return to regularly and am grateful to have in my toolkit. I can imagine it will be especially helpful as we head into the holiday season and really like the way it gives a feeling that you can create a sanctuary, even in the midst of whatever is going on around you. Thank you πŸ™

Soothing and perfect. For a newbie, 8 minutes can feel interminable but not with Cory!
