Welcome to Meditation with Corrie.
Make sure that you're sat comfortable for this meditation.
Use a chair with the back support if you need it.
We're going to come together to see if we can relieve your headache.
Straighten your spine,
But allow your chin and your head to drop slightly.
To a comfortable position so that you don't feel like you're having to hold your head up.
Allow it to just lay relaxed as if you're looking down into your lap.
This should feel like you're gently starting to stretch the muscles at the back of your neck.
Close your eyes if you haven't done so already.
Take a nice big deep breath in and then sigh it out.
See if you can make a sigh sound when you breathe out.
Like you're emptying your abdomen,
You're letting go of any stress or tension in your body with that sigh.
Just a nice big sigh.
If that felt good for you,
Let's do it again with this next breath.
Nice big deep breath in and then sigh it out.
Just gently tilt your chin to the left and to the right.
Slowly twisting your neck slightly from left to right.
Left to right.
If your headache's coming from tension that you might have in your neck and your shoulders,
You may hear some crunching sounds or just some little popping sounds as you do this,
But just do it very slowly and gently.
Starting to bring some blood circulation into that part of your body.
Then stop.
Once again,
Take a nice big deep breath in and breathe it out.
Notice how your head might drop just a little bit more towards your chest as your body starts to relax into the meditation.
Slowly moving your shoulders forward as if you're crunching them in towards your chest.
Then taking them all the way back as if you're closing your scapular at the back of your shoulders.
Moving in,
Crunching inwards like you're coming into a ball.
Then slowly pushing your chest out,
Bringing your shoulders towards each other in the back part of your body.
In and out.
In and out.
Allow your shoulders to drop and relax.
Take another big deep breath for me.
Breathe in and breathe all the way out.
Sigh out any tension from your shoulders.
Now very slowly and gently lift your head and allow it to start to just rest backwards as if you had a pillow behind you and you were just moving your head into the pillow.
Lifting your forehead up to the sky.
Feel the front of your neck stretching and opening.
Take another nice big deep breath here.
It might feel very different.
Breathe in all the way down to your tummy and breathe out.
Bringing your head back into a neutral position so it feels comfortable just sitting at the top of your shoulders.
With your eyes still closed,
See if you can roll your eyes back slightly.
Back and up as if they're staring into the middle of your forehead.
Maybe that gaze is right where your headache is.
Maybe your headache is at the front of your forehead,
Above your eyes.
Just kind of stare into that space.
And allow your mind to show you a colour.
Any colour.
Any colour that comes to mind.
And when you see that colour in your mind,
Imagine you're just flooding that part of your head with the colour.
Like I see,
Like an icy blue colour.
So I'm imagining that there's icy blue around my eyes,
Across my forehead,
The top of my head,
My temples.
That icy blue colour that I'm seeing is cooling and refreshing.
As if I'm putting a cold ice pack on my forehead.
And the cool is helping with the pain,
Relieving the pain.
Let your colour do whatever comes to your mind.
Maybe you need warmth,
Maybe it's green and you can feel yourself out in nature with the wind blowing in your face,
Helping you to alleviate this headache,
This pain that you have.
Let your mind show you what you need in this moment.
Just go with it.
Headaches can sometimes manifest into our reality when we're being too self-critical.
Have a think about that for a moment.
Is there something that you're criticising yourself about?
Is there something that you're saying about yourself that's negative?
Are you being too hard on yourself?
Are you being a perfectionist and thinking you have to be perfect?
If any of that resonates,
See if you can just take a big deep breath and then when you breathe out,
Tell yourself to let that go.
Just say to yourself on the exhale,
I let that go.
Just breathe it out.
The next five breaths,
Every time you breathe in,
Breathe in relaxation into your brain,
Into your head.
And every time you breathe out,
Say to yourself,
I let that go.
Take the first two fingers of both hands and place them on your temples.
Start to just do very small circular movements with just the right amount of pressure that feels good for you.
Just round and round.
Soften your forehead.
Let go of any tension around your eyes.
Relax your jaw.
Relax your shoulders.
Breathe out any tension.
Just keep going around and around.
Softening that part of your being.
Bringing some love,
Some tenderness to that part of your head.
Imagine the touch and the sensation is traveling inside of your head.
Around all the front of your face,
The top of your head,
The back of your head,
The sides.
They're all being given some love and some tenderness.
Just keep breathing in and breathing out.
Softening all the parts of your body that feel tense.
Just relax.
When it feels right for you,
You can place your hands back down on your knees or on your lap.
Take a final big deep breath with me.
Breathe all the way down to the base of your spine.
Really,
Really with intention,
Breathe out anything that needs to be released out of your body.
Anything negative,
Any tension,
Stress.
Just breathe it out.
Namaste,
My friend.
Namaste.
You
