Step into the attic of your mind and clear out anything from past or present relationships that no longer serves you. In this guided meditation, you’ll visualize opening the dusty attic door, sorting through old emotional boxes, and placing outdated memories, patterns, and attachments into large bags to be released. As you clean the space, you create room for clarity, peace, and renewed energy. This end-of-year meditation supports closure, letting go, and stepping forward feeling lighter, freer, and complete.

Please make sure that you're comfortable for this meditation.

Make sure that if you're seated that your spine is nice and straight.

Let's close down our eyes.

Let's let go of our day so far,

Whatever happened,

Let it go.

Come into the moment.

And start to slow down your breathing so that the rest of your body can respond to that.

Your mind can start to soften a little bit and slow down.

The rest of your body can soften and relax.

So,

Slow down your breathing,

The breathing is always in charge of how the rest of the body responds.

So,

Be very conscious of your breath,

Nice,

Long,

Slow,

Deep breaths.

On your next exhale,

Let your shoulders drop and relax.

And then if you can make your breath quieter,

Just as if it's starting to disappear into the background of your focus.

It's still nice,

Long,

Slow,

Deep breaths,

But there's more of a silence to it.

See if you can come to that place with your breath.

And in that silence,

Reach through and start to feel your heartbeat.

That pulse of life inside of your body.

And settle into the rhythm of it with your long,

Slow,

Deep breaths.

See if you can calm your heartbeat.

If it feels a little bit fast to you,

See if you can mindfully slow it down all as well.

It's time to let go.

Using your imagination,

Starting to wake up your inner sight,

I'd like you to imagine that you're standing at the bottom of 10 steps going up in your mind.

So starting to just feel as if you're taking a couple of steps forward until you stop at the bottom of these 10 steps going up.

You can peer up the staircase and at the top you'll see a door.

Might not be able to see it very clearly at this point,

But there's a door up there waiting for you to go through and I'll explain all about that when we go up there.

But for now,

I'd like you to just look down at your feet.

Make sure that you're barefoot,

So take off your socks and your shoes,

If you're wearing any in your mind,

Take off your socks and your shoes so that you can stand barefoot at the bottom of these 10 steps going up.

And now you can feel the ground that you're standing on.

Wiggle your toes and move your feet around so that you can feel the texture.

Notice the temperature of the ground that you're standing on.

Does it feel rough?

Does it feel smooth?

We're going to go up these 10 steps to the door at the top.

Starting with whichever foot feels right for you.

Allow yourself to just very casually,

Very relaxed,

Easily go up these 10 steps with me.

1,

2,

3,

Feel the steps underneath your feet so it feels like you're climbing up the staircase.

4,

5,

6,

7,

8,

9,

10.

Take a couple of steps forward so that you're directly in front of the door there.

Take a look at the door,

Pay attention to all the details if possible.

What color is your door?

How big is your door?

Is it plain or does it have carvings or panels or windows?

Just pay attention,

Sense or see as much as you can about the door.

This door is going to lead you into the attic of your mind.

It's time to do some cleaning,

Time to do some sorting out.

I'm going to count to 3.

On 1 you'll open the door,

On 2 you'll walk through the doorway,

And on 3 you'll find yourself in the attic,

Upstairs,

Metaphorically in your thinking system,

In a physical form there in front of you.

Let's go through the door.

1,

2,

3.

First of all,

Just look down at your feet and feel the ground that you're standing on here in the attic.

Just whittle your toes,

Feel the surface of the ground,

The surface of the floor.

And then look up and look left for me,

Just look over to the left and see what you see over there,

What you sense.

Taking a look in front of you,

Looking over to the right.

Looking around the space,

I'd like you to look a little bit closer.

In here there's a box of big trash bags.

Just rummage around in the attic here with me and see if you can find the box of trash bags and when you find the box,

Just pull out a bag so we have one ready for us.

Now,

In this space,

No matter what form things are in for you,

Whether it's files or books or clothing,

Old furniture,

Blankets,

Whatever it is,

Each one of these things in this attic is metaphorical,

Meaning it has other meanings to aspects of your past.

There's an area in the attic that's connected to your intimate relationships,

Close relationships,

Maybe even your lover,

That close,

Your partner,

Your girlfriend,

Your boyfriend,

Your husband.

You'll sense it,

I'd like you to just kind of go over to that area in your mind and as you start to look through the things that are there,

Place everything in the bag that's no longer needed.

Different objects that represent memories,

Maybe there's objects that represent specific behaviors that you need to change in your relationship.

Doesn't necessarily mean you're getting rid of the relationship,

But if your relationship is already ended,

What do you need to let go of still?

And imagine that these objects in front of you all have symbolic connection to that which you're letting go of.

Maybe it's the broken promise of things not turning out the way they should have that you need to let go of.

Maybe it's the fear of whatever comes next that you need to let go of.

Maybe it's all of the unpleasant memories that you don't need to carry,

The weight of that that you should just let go of for yourself so that you feel lighter and freer to move forward whenever you're ready.

Imagine that you're just dumping all the toxicity of any past or present,

You're dumping in this bag everything that you no longer want,

You're not going to do anymore,

All in this bag.

And if you need to grab another bag,

Grab another bag.

You don't even have to pay attention to the objects you're throwing in the bag if you don't want to,

You can just use the action of it so that it feels like a release.

You're letting go.

And everything you throw in these bags allow yourself to just pause and feel a little bit freer,

A little bit lighter,

Carrying less,

Carrying somebody else's stuff.

Let it go.

Carrying somebody else's wounds or somebody else's emotions or somebody else's hangups.

How about we just throw them in the bag and let them go.

Please keep breathing some good deep breaths,

Release with your breath as well as your mental or visual release with your physical breath.

Breathe in nice and deep and breathe out and let it go.

Clean up,

Clean up time.

If you're feeling like you're coming to completion,

Look around and find the window in this attic.

If you've still got more to put in your bag,

Then go ahead.

But when you're done,

Walk over to the window and open it up and let in the light.

Let in the fresh breeze.

Let in the new.

Let the breeze flow through your hair,

Over your face.

Let it flow into the room,

Into this space in your mind and start to just clean it out.

Put a whole new frequency,

A whole new energy,

A whole new space.

Let the wind blow through the window and clean out all the cobwebs.

This breeze is blowing out all into the back corners,

All the nooks and crannies and the hiding spaces.

Feel it blowing over your face so you can physically get a grip and get a sense that this breeze is here to help you cleanse away everything that doesn't serve you.

Nice,

Big,

Deep breath.

And so it is.

Feeling a sense of completion within yourself.

You can close the window if you want to,

Or you can leave it open.

Start to make your way through your attic back to the door.

You can imagine that you're bringing these big old bags with you that we can dispose of them when we get out of here.

Or you can imagine that with a flick of your finger,

All of that stuff just disappears.

Done.

Complete.

Either way,

Coming through the door,

When I click my fingers and I count to three,

You're going to find yourself at the bottom of these 10 steps once again.

One,

Two,

Three.

Take one final big,

Deep breath.

Let go.

Feel a sense of finalism,

Like completion.

And then slowly take your time to open your eyes and come back into your space.

Thanks for joining us.

Hi Cory, I wanted to thank you for your meditation. It helped me release a lot of emotions and old heaviness I’d been carrying from this year and even from the past. During it, I felt my whole body responding, and afterward it was like a fresh light came in when I opened the window. I feel clearer and lighter now. Thank you so much for guiding me through that. Love&Light
