Hello,

My name is Kari.

This meditation is all about choosing how we respond to something.

We can choose to respond to be okay or we can choose to respond and be angry.

So let's practice how to choose to be okay rather than be angry.

If you'd like to sit in a nice comfortable position for me,

Straighten your spine,

Rest your hands on your knees or on your lap and just get comfortable.

Close down your eyes if you haven't done so already and take a deep breath.

Bring your breath all the way down into the base of your abdomen.

Make sure that your breath is long and slow.

Find a nice comfortable pace that suits you with your breath.

Once you're settled into a rhythm that feels right for you,

Just pay attention to your body.

What does your body currently feel like?

If you're trying to choose to be okay versus to be angry about something,

Maybe anger has already started to be present in your body.

I know that we're all so very different,

But for example,

When I start to feel anger in my body when I sit with it,

It's very obvious around the back of my neck and across my shoulders.

My chest feels tight.

My stomach feels contracted.

My whole body feels more rigid in general.

I can definitely sense a presence of tension,

Unease in my body.

What does it feel like for you?

Maybe you're not even that angry right now,

But maybe there's a presence,

Just a slight shadow of anger bubbling in there.

Maybe there's a situation that's just happened that could possibly cause you to be angry.

And we don't want to be angry.

We don't want to waste our energy being angry.

Maybe the person that we're angry with is not worth the time.

Maybe the situation that we could be angry about is not worth the emotional stress and time that it would take for us to feel angry.

Feel your body as you listen to me.

Keep taking your long,

Slow,

Deep breaths.

There's absolutely nothing to be ashamed about when we get angry.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with feeling angry.

Anger is a natural source of energy that comes through us to us for a specific reason.

Generally when we're angry about something,

It's because something's upset us.

We need a gauge.

We need to be shown sometimes that a situation isn't right.

And that's why we feel anger.

So by no means am I saying it's not okay to be angry.

Actually it's very healthy to sit with your anger sometimes and just let it go through your body.

Let the energy just work its way through and out of your body.

It's a very healthy way of processing anger.

But for this particular meditation,

We're focusing on not staying with the anger.

We're focusing on acknowledging maybe that we could have a choice to be angry about something,

But we're choosing to let it go.

We're choosing to not entertain it.

We're choosing to not allow our body to feel uncomfortable,

To feel tense and tight and uneasy because the situation or the person doesn't warrant that kind of effort.

Does that make sense?

Does it make sense as you sit here just breathing nice and slow with me?

Does it make sense that sometimes people just aren't worth being angry about?

It makes total sense to me.

It makes sense because sometimes the only person that's suffering is ourselves.

We're the ones that feel uncomfortable.

We're the ones that are having a bad day.

We're the ones that are allowing that energy to take away possibly a really good day,

A really good moment,

A really good feeling inside of our body.

So as you breathe and you sit quietly with me and you just take some time to listen to what I'm sharing with you,

What do you choose?

Do you choose to be angry over a situation or do you choose to just breathe with me and just let it go?

And as we let it go,

You'll notice that your shoulders will relax.

You'll notice that your tummy stops being so tense,

The back of your neck and across the back of your shoulders will relax.

Keep taking those long,

Slow,

Deep breaths and feel as your body softens,

Let go,

Choose.

Choose to not be angry.

Just breathe it out.

We're making the decision that it's not the time and place today to entertain the choice of being angry.

So we're choosing to just let it go.

The well-being and the overall sense of ease and peace and comfort inside of your own body is worth more than wasting your energy doing something else over somebody else or a situation that isn't worthy of your time or your energy.

Let's get an amen to that.

And so it is.

Namaste,

My friend.

Breathe easy today.

It's a good day.

It's a really good day.
