Five rhythms meditation.

Finding the breath.

Feeling the exhale.

Feeling the inhale.

Suspending the breath briefly with the lungs full at the end of the next inhale.

And exhaling.

Releasing.

Inhaling through the nose.

Exhaling through an open relaxed mouth.

Feeling the spent air move up and out.

Touching the lips.

Letting the belly relax.

The midriff relax.

And letting there be a softness at the center of our chest,

At our heart.

Inhaling through the nose.

Relaxing softly.

Exhaling through the mouth.

The belly is soft.

The front and back of the chest,

Around the heart is soft.

There is an easy natural flow to both the inhale and the exhale.

Now letting both the inhale and the exhale be through the nose.

Feeling that there's a certain strength in that structure.

As we feel the breath coming in,

Down to the lungs,

Filling the body,

And out through the nose.

Releasing.

And with the rhythm of the breath,

Start to bring awareness to the physical body,

To the soles of the feet,

The tops of the feet,

The legs,

The pelvis,

The belly,

The midriff,

The chest,

The heart,

Upper chest,

Shoulders,

Arms,

All the way down to the fingers.

Bringing the awareness to the front and back of the neck,

The scalp,

The skull,

The space between the ears.

As if with our inhales and our exhales,

We can allow our brain to relax.

Letting the scalp release so that somehow there's more space for the plates of the skull to open.

Releasing,

Relaxing.

Opening the crown.

And then with this relaxed physical body,

We take our awareness to the space around the body.

We feel into our aura and feel it moving with our breath.

The inhale and the exhale.

Allowing even our aura to relax.

Taking our awareness to the base of our spine,

To our pubic area,

And feeling as if there's a column of light that starts at this base and traces through our body,

Coming up the center core of the torso.

First to the belly button,

Then to the heart area,

Then up through the center of the neck and the crown.

And we bring our awareness to this midline of perhaps gold light.

Whatever color comes to you.

Feeling the strength and pulse,

Purity.

We let that core of light be our stable center.

We feel the body around it.

We feel the aura expanding beyond the body,

Yet we have that center core.

The body breathes itself through the inhale and the exhale.

Allowing any structures of the mind to expand and ease,

So that the mind and body feel more merged and open.

Expanding our physical experience.

Integrating body and mind,

Totally sailing,

Rhythmically breathing,

Ready to start our journey.

Connecting with our imagination to our feeling of original energy in one tradition called the Tao,

The wholeness before form.

Merging with that wholeness,

So that we can't become as if before form.

The wilderness before the dawn,

Ineffable,

Indescribable,

Existing before form,

Before thought,

Before any division.

It's said that the human heart may know and understand unity through direct experience,

Intuition,

And feeling.

Letting our heart be open to this unity.

Feeling the heart expand with the inhale.

Contracting around that area as the lungs get smaller on the exhale.

At one with original energy before separation.

And from this place of unity,

A division of energy happens.

Yin and yang,

Being and expression,

Passive and active.

Until there is this separation,

There can be no form,

No expressing in time,

No three-dimensional world.

Maintaining the feeling of being and adding the feeling of expressing.

Just having a body is expressing.

Being and expressing.

Being and expressing.

Yin becomes the inner world of our heart,

Intuition,

Original nature.

Yang becomes the outer world of our mind,

Thoughts,

Actions,

Expressions.

Expressions of the Tao in form.

Expressions of unity in form.

Expressions of our highest consciousness at this moment in form.

And after the cycle of that expression,

There is a return to original energy,

To the formless from which it was created.

Being and doing.

Heart and mind.

Yin and yang.

All part of the Tao,

Wholeness.

And as we chose to come into this lifetime,

We came with a purpose,

Perhaps a commitment to manifest part of the Tao in action.

Love made flesh.

Entering through the first element,

Water,

Filled with original energy,

Still comfortable and at one with the great wisdom before form.

Our heart full of knowing and stillness.

At one with mystery without fear,

Without a need or desire to understand.

The greatness of water,

The ability to be still but not stagnant.

At one with the soul's purpose.

At one with our reason for taking form.

Directly experiencing the power of deep resources.

Resources connected with our energy before taking birth.

In water we cultivate this connection.

Eventually our awareness is drawn to a pattern,

A template,

A design,

A purpose,

A vision.

And as the attention is taken up more and more with that vision,

Like a seed breaking the earth in spring,

There is a transition to wood.

Vision,

Internal,

Clear,

Aligned with the soul's purpose.

Directing your creative energy to fulfill your part in evolution.

At one with evolution,

That upward spiral of progress towards full manifestation of oneness in form.

Only to lead to the return to no form.

Feeling the authority of wood,

The authority of the strong inner vision,

Birthed from the innate wisdom of water.

Feeling skills,

The ability to fulfill the inner vision in the world.

To navigate the obstacles that will be at the frontiers of our achievements.

The strength and attention to be able to stay true to your inner true north.

To the vision and template that you recognize it yourself.

With each inhale feeling the vision.

With each exhale feeling the act of fulfilling that vision.

Inhaling,

Strength,

The ability to plan,

Exhaling the action fulfilled.

From that fulfilled expression,

The energy shifts towards the fire and the heart.

To the warmth of relationship,

Sharing,

Love.

Love expanded into the three-dimensional world.

The ability to love others and to allow others to touch your heart.

Expanding the heart appropriately to touch the hearts of those in your family,

Community,

And society.

Strong and centered.

Able to love without wanting love in return.

Able to feel so full of the richness of the inner connection.

That your very presence both exudes and attracts the experience of love.

Present with each part of the inhale.

Present with each part of the exhale.

Abundant,

Fulfilled.

Figure eights of relationship.

In so many directions.

A reciprocity of sharing and of joy.

From that fullness we step towards the earth rhythm.

Like Mother Earth the archetype,

You are at peace.

Full of wisdom,

You've learned how to nourish your inner self deeply.

How to create appropriate nourishment in the world through wood.

To fulfill your own needs in society and in relationship.

You can fulfill your own innate vision.

Feel free to express and to receive love safely.

Becoming the embodiment of fulfillment.

Inhaling,

Feeling the abundance of accomplishment.

Exhaling and sharing.

Inhaling,

Fulfilled,

Abundant,

With plenty for yourself and plenty to share.

Earth is a time to share the bounty.

Inhaling,

Fulfilled.

Exhaling,

Sharing.

Having taken from the fields of your accomplishment and shared,

The energy shifts to a time of return.

A concentration towards essence.

As a fruit concentrates her energy into a seed,

You notice the shining gold center of your being and experience metal.

Metal,

The ability to extract essence.

To extract the transcendent value,

Clarity,

Power.

In all that has gone before,

You radiate like a diamond from the distillation of a lifetime of experience.

Discarding what is not pure.

Holding on to the transcendent essence.

Discarding what has served its purpose.

Holding on to the precious essence that transcends the physical form.

Inhaling to concentrate and merge with the Tao.

Exhaling to release.

Inhaling and feeling that concentration.

Exhaling and releasing.

Towards the end of metal,

We continue to shift back towards merging with original nature,

With the openness of space before form,

Before yin and yang,

To wholeness,

To oneness.

Letting the breath bring the feeling of that integration.

The feeling of strength,

The physical form and clarity.

And also the ability to open up and be at one.

Noticing the space around the physical body.

Feeling into that space.

Letting that space at the periphery of our aura merge with the wholeness of being before form.

So that for a couple of breaths,

We are both all and no thing.

Returning to the Tao.

Treasuring the essence and releasing.

And now being present with the inhale and the exhale.

Feeling the full cycle of the five rhythms the source before form,

Yin and yang,

The choice to come into form.

Your ability to call on the virtues of each of the elements at any time as you travel the rhythms.

Feeling the fullness of the cycle for a life,

A project,

A relationship.

Noticing the air energy at the center line of the body.

Feeling the body breathe itself.

Feeling the center line,

The body,

The aura,

Bringing more attention to the breath,

Deepening the inhale and deepening the exhale.

Retaining a spacious wisdom that exists before the breath.

And using these next breaths to stabilize the vibration of the body.

Both present and connected to an energy before form.

Stabilizing your strength,

Keeping the connection.

Sealing this experience inwardly.

Feeling the soles of the feet,

The feet,

The legs,

Pelvis,

The belly,

The chest,

The arms,

The neck,

The head,

The eyes,

The aura.

Letting the eyes open partway looking down and then letting the eyes open fully.
